Next Christmas Wishlist

Since I've gotten a bit older, my appreciation of Next has grown. My mum used to dress me head-to-toe in Next at a young age but when you get to your teenage years, you think you're too cool for Next. For the past year or so, I've found myself buying more and more from the store. I feel my personal style has evolved recently to a more simple, sophisticated look (well, most of the time anyway!). Next sell the best staple pieces that I've found on the high street; I constantly wear their boyfriend jeans as they are sold in different lengths and it's so hard for me to find good-fitting petite jeans. I do find their sizes are generous so I'd recommend trying the clothes on in store first! Anyways, onto the actual post! Next are running a blog competition with your ultimate wishlist and 5 winners will get one item each off their own! How cool is that? So here's mine:

I've put a wide range of items on here as I think these best describe my personal style. First up is this gorgeous pink peplum jumper. I wear jumpers quite a lot at the moment; I find they're perfect for uni with my boyfriend jeans and this is a bit more dressy. I've got a lovely pink and mint green bib necklace that would look so cute with this. Next up is this black metallic vest. I've got so many cute skirts and no cute tops to match them with! This would be perfect for a Christmas night out paired with a leather skirt, strappy heels and a leather jacket.

On a Sunday for work because I'm in charge, I get to wear whatever I want; however, because it's work I still like to dress smartly. Both this white and pink shirt will look great with skinny trousers or a pencil skirt. Of course we all have a Christmas party/meal to attend and this navy dress would be perfect for that. It's smart and sexy without being too over-the-top. You could even wear it with a blazer over it and wear it to the office!

Next up are these black skinny jeans. I've been after some for ages and these legging-fit ones would be ideal for tucking into my biker boots or Chelsea boots. These grey boyfriend jeans will be perfect for spring/summer with pumps and a jumper for when it's slightly warmer outside! They will also go perfectly with these nude brogues. A couple of years ago, I lived in brogues constantly but I always wore dark colours like black and brown. A nude pair are just a bit more girly and summery.

Even though I've got my winter coat for this year, I did just throw away my khaki parka last month and need a replacement! This one looks like my ideal coat. Warm, comfy, lots of pockets. I like to have a casual coat for daytime and a dressy one for night occasions. When it gets to the warmer months and I don't need a coat, I love a snazzy jacket. If you've read my blog previously, you know I usually opt for a leather jacket but the print on this biker jacket is so stylish! To make it stand out as much as possible, I'd wear with an all black or monochrome outfit so it pops.

My Sale Shopping Haul

So everyone's been talking about Black Friday/Cyber Monday and which blogger doesn't love shopping? However, most clothes shops have had offers on for the past week and have continued to do so today too. So as usual I like to have scour through through the sales and this time I picked up a few bargains!

Forever 21

They have free shipping on order over £21 and loads of items for £10!

I love the print/material on this top. It's like a jazzed up t-shirt so I can dress it up and layer a statement necklace over the top of it too.

Again, the print on these skirts makes them look so much more expensive! I really wanted the light pink one but it had sold out in my size. I bought both blues instead!

I love the colour red and I love the outfit on the model too. I'll be wearing this jumper with everything: jeans, skirts.

George at Asda

George has 20% off all women's clothing and footwear and free delivery to store. The best thing is that you can pick a day when you want it to be there for.

My boyfriend loves polo neck jumpers and I've seen one like this for him in Next so I bought the female version of it! I like that it's a high neck but not suffocating like polo necks are to me. This jumper I will wear with skinny jeans and trousers mostly.

New Look

There's 25% off everything as well as extra offers on partywear and gifts.

Recently I went to Meadowhall and tried on the skort to this top. It fit hideously but I love the print so I bought the top to it instead!

These shorts look so comfortable and silky almost like pyjamas! I'll wear these with heels and a nice top for a meal out.

Pull and Bear

I got an email with a 20% code off and free delivery!

I've been after some pale blue skinnies for a while now and I have these in all of the other denim washes and they fit perfectly! These jeans will look best like in the photo: casual with a stripey top and sneakers.

I've got a huge hole in my wardrobe for basic t-shirts. This burgundy tee will be great for uni when I can't be bothered to put much effort into my outfit!

Did you grab any bargains? Leave a comment below!

The 1989 Tag

I'm having a blogging break right now as I've got a hectic schedule and am struggling to fit everything in so blogging has to take a back seat. However, going through my Bloglovin' feed this morning, I can across this tag on my fellow name sharer's blog, Sian Marie's. As a huuuuuge Taylor Swift fan, I knew I had to do this too!

1. WELCOME TO NEW YORK: If you could live in any city, which would it be and why?

Has to be New York ironically! I love the buzz about the place. I've never been there but I just know I'd love it.

2. BLANK SPACE: What is someone that everyone thinks is true about you but is actually false?
Probably my age. I look younger than I am and people seem to think that means I'm weak or a pushover. Trust me, I'm not.

3. STYLE: What is one item in your closet that makes you feel unstoppable?
Either a well-fitted dress or my leather jackets. Badass.

4. OUT OF THE WOODS: What is one thing that you're afraid of?

5. ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS STAY: Who is someone you wish was still in your life?
I wouldn't say I have anyone that fits that criteria. I have the friends and family that I need. I guess I wish I saw them all a bit more!

6. SHAKE IT OFF: What is something you've had to shake off?
This bloody cold to start with! But seriously, I get stressed very easily so that's something I need to shake off!

7. I WISH YOU WOULD: What is something you'd like to happen right now?
I'd like to have all my uni work finished so I can be with my boyfriend in the moment rather than thinking about what else I have to do.

8. BAD BLOOD: Have you ever had someone stab you in the back?
Not recently, no as I only have positive people in my life; at school, this happened on a weekly basis.

9. WILDEST DREAMS: What would you like to be remembered for?
Genuinely I have no idea on this one!

10. HOW YOU GET THE GIRL: What is your favourite pick-up line?
I just love pick-up lines. Granted they don't work, but I still love that people use them and genuinely think that they work! I love any Harry Potter reference.

11. THIS LOVE: What is something you got back that you never thought you would?
Trust. Before I met my current boyfriend, I struggled to trust any guy but with Tom, I trust him with my life.

12. I KNOW PLACES: Where is one place you always feel safe?
I hate to copy Sian Marie's answer but the only place I feel safe is in my boyfriend's arms. There, no-one can hurt me and nothing can come between us.

13. CLEAN: What is an important lesson you have learnt in life, and how did you learn it?
I'm learning it right now. I need to appreciate what I have right now before I lose it all.

#52WeeksOfHappiness: Week 3

The past week has been a fairly busy week once again! My life currently consists of university work, performing arts rehearsals and squeezing in some time to see Tom!

Monday was spent catching up on work, rehearsals on the night and then staying at Tom's for the night. I'm trying really hard to find a balance between work and a social life but it's so darn hard!

Tuesday, I continued with my Christmas shopping. I can't explain what I bought as I know my best friend reads my blog, but yes Amy, I have bought your present and I hope you'll love it!

Wednesday consisted of me dancing around for a couple of hours and yet again doing more work!

Thursday, I finally went to the gym for the first time in a couple of weeks. I've put on a bit of weight recently so my aim by Christmas is to be trim again but more importantly, I want to be physically fit. I recently bought a whole load of new fitness gear so it needs an outing! My favourite place to shop for fitness clothing is Forever 21. Super chic and super cheap!

Friday was my day off and I really didn't feel too good but I still persevered and got on with my work!

As usual my weekends were spent at work; however unlike every other Saturday night, as Tom was on a night out, I spent the night watching Strictly/game shows with my dad and playing quizzes online. I really know how to party!

Once again, this week is all work and no play! I can't wait until Christmas!!!

What I'm Loving This Week #4

If you saw my post earlier which was meant for yesterday, you'll see I've had a crazy busy week!

1. Dance

Thanks to the Performing Arts society, I've fallen in love with dance again. I quit going to formal classes at about 14 so I could focus on my school work and because I wasn't enjoying it anymore. Now it's actually a stress reliever as for a few hours a week, I get to forget about all of my assignments and work and just focus on something I know I am good at.

2. My eBay Chelsea boots

Image from eBay
I've been after some tan Chelsea boots for quite a while and haven't been able to find any! After seeing this post on Beth's blog, I bought the pair featured! I've only just started wearing them this week and will admit, they're not the comfiest pair of shoes ever but if you wear them with thick socks, you can't tell as much!

3.  Sleep

I've been going to bed at about half 10 every night because I've been getting up before 8am every morning during the week. On Saturday night at Tom's I even managed to fall asleep at about half 9!

4. Taylor Swift's 1989 album

Since it arrived through my letterbox, I've had it on non-stop. I wasn't a huge fan of it at first but it's definitely a grower. I still prefer the slower songs as I think there's more attention to lyrics there. I'd give it an 8/10.

#52WeeksOfHappiness: Week 2

Once again, I've been super busy this week with uni as I've had a presentation to complete as well as a group project to start! So much work, not enough time!

Monday wasn't the best start way to start the week. I was in bed most of the day ill and only left to go to my Performing Arts rehearsals as I hadn't gone the week before. Turns out I'd missed quite a bit but I managed to catch up pretty quickly. We're finally getting to do a bit of ballet too which is amazing!

Tuesday was the one day I ended up doing work at home so I had books all over my bed trying to make sense out of my group projects!

Wednesday was the time to finalise our presentation finally and then I had 3 hours of dance. By the end of it, I was so knackered and my back was killing. The reason of this is because I have to roll over a girl's back with my legs in the splits. It's hard to describe but this is what I mean!

I spent most of Thursday at uni as I had lectures and meetings for my other group project! Then I had to meet up with my presentation group to go through all the fine details. After that I went home to write up my speech on cue cards and try to relax for the night!

Friday was the day of our presentation. The fire alarm managed to go off just after our presentation! Our tutor was saying a load of negatives about our presentation and then gave us 67/100 which is a high 2:1! I was pleasantly surprised. Afterwards, I got to see Tom and just have a chill night before working all weekend!

I'm glad that I have one presentation out of the way now as I have 3 essays, an oral assessment and another presentation all in before Christmas! Stressing!!!!!

What I'm Loving This Week #3

I've been mixing uni work with Tom having a week off work so it's been an array of things that have kept me occupied this week!

1. Dexter

We have just finished season six and once again it ended on a cliffhanger! Only two more seasons left and we'll have to find another TV show to obsess over!

2. Dresses

These are the four dresses I've bought this week! The first one is from my local Gap outlet that I mentioned in my post yesterday. This is going to be my Christmas dress for this year! The second one is from Forever 21 and I'm still unsure whether to send it back or not! The last two are both from Dorothy Perkins. I bought the blue one in store after trying them both on and then went home and bought the pinky coloured one online!

3. Agenda Organisation

I've been so obsessed with to-do lists and getting organised this week. I've had so much to do so having every little task written down is the only way for me to stay sane! Would you guys like a follow-up post on this?

4. Sloths

I think I may have been a sloth in a previous life. That is all.

#52WeeksOfHappiness: Week 1

I've seen this feature on various blogs at the moment and thought it was the perfect way to round every week off. It's sort of a week in review post mixed with the things I'm grateful for.

This week has been a slight bit hectic. My boyfriend, Tom, has had the week off work (he works in a school kitchen) and I've had so much university work to do! However, Monday was Worldwide Taylor Swift Day to celebrate the launch of her new album, 1989. However, I didn't receive it until Tuesday but I've listened to it so much since then! I did buy the deluxe edition so I get 3 extra songs too!

I spent Tuesday shopping with Tom. We had a lovely meal out and had a great day. It's not often we get to spend a full day together so it was a delightful change!

Wednesday was spent at rehearsals at university. I'm part of the Hull Uni Performing Arts society and we have rehearsals every Monday and Wednesday. This year, I'm lucky to have been picked to choreograph a small group number. Mine is Hit Me With Your Best Shot from Rock of Ages. I've choreographed it similarly to the scene in the film but with a twist. I have the Catherine Zeta Jones characters on one side and the Russell Brands on the other. I've named it Propers vs Rockers!

Thursday I spent doing uni work. I've got a huge group project coming up on Friday in which we have to present about a business. Our business is the Ritz-Carlton so we've had to do hell of a lot of research! However, we organised a group meeting in the library and managed to get the majority of it done in under three hours!

I spent Friday having a chill-out day with Tom. We did end up popping out for a bit to our local Gap outlet where I bought the most perfect dress for Christmas (pictures will be uploaded tomorrow); I did try the wrong size on but the shop assistant was so helpful and found me the right size!

Saturday and Sunday for me are spent at work but every Saturday night, I spend at Tom's house. It's usually the only time we get to spend quality time together. After getting through the Harry Potter films in the past couple of weeks again, we've returned to watch Dexter. In the past week, we've managed to finish a full season! Next up, Season 7!

The rest of today has been spent picking up my Dorothy Perkins order, organising my agenda for next week and figuring out when I'm going to start planning for Christmas!

Next week is pretty much uni work all the way. I feel like I've got so much to do and not enough time to do it in!

My Fashion Staples: Jackets/Coats

I would consider myself a classic dresser. I like to stick to timeless pieces and tend to go for plain clothes and colours. Over the years, I've worn my fair share of awful pieces and have finally discovered how to dress for my body type. I'm tiny but I do have long legs and slightly larger boobs so it's basically trial and error. I hate those guides that tell you that you can only wear one type of style of dress because of your body shape. If you try something on and you love it and it makes you feel good, bloody buy it!

Now I will admit, I do have far too many clothes in my wardrobe and wear the same few but I like to buy pieces that I can mix and match and wear any time! I'm going to start a weekly feature on my blog featuring my fashion staples. Please note these are what I consider to be my key fashion pieces; it doesn't mean that everyone should own them. They're just the items that I've found myself wearing time and time again.

Week One: Jackets and Coats

1. A leather jacket

Jackets (from left): Zara, H&M, Forever 21 and Matalan
Classic black would be the first place to start. I wear mine with all sorts of outfits- jeans and a t-shirt, a minidress; a leather jacket will rock up any outfit. As well as owning one in black, I also have them in electric blue, burgundy and light pink.

2. An army jacket

Jacket from H&M
This is perfect for those days when it's not too cold and you want to keep it casual. My favourite look is to wear it over a t-shirt and jeans and pair it with sneakers. Mine has two huge pockets aswell which is perfect for my iPod in one and my phone in the other!

3. A blazer

Blazers (from left): New Look, Debenhams and Zara
A blazer instantly smartens up any look. I definitely think one is essential for interviews and uni presentations. When I put mine on, I just feel ready to face whatever I need to face! The classic one is black but I also own one in a light grey jersey fabric and a navy and green tartan one!

4. A warm neutral-coloured everyday coat

Coat from 915 @ New Look
By this, I mean something warm and cosy. It doesn't have to be the most fashionable jacket just as long as it goes with everything and keeps you from getting cold!

5. A beige mac

Coat from George @ Asda
When I'm wearing this, it always makes me feel oh so Parisian! I tend to wear this with an all black outfit for some reason. Either that or I wear it with a party dress. I have a shorter version which goes just over my hips but I'm looking to get a longer length one next autumn!

6. A thick wool coat

Coats (from left): River Island and New Look
This comes into my wardrobe daily when it gets to winter. I'm such a cold bum so I pretty much live in these two coats throughout December and January. The reason I love these two is because they feel quite dressy.

What I'm Loving This Week #2

This week has been a slight bit crazy with loads of uni work to get done in such a short space of time! I've had very little time to relax but I have managed to have a little bit of fun!

1. Total Divas

I am blaming my boyfriend for this addiction! I've liked watching wrestling since I was younger but haven't watched it in years. E! have produced this show and now I'm hooked!

2. Blake Lively's Pregnancy Fashion

She's always been one of my style icons anyway (I'm a huge Gossip Girl fan) but she literally is glowing and I just love how she's showing off her bump!

3. Countdown to Christmas

This week I am super excited to get list making for Christmas and start my shopping!

4. Dorothy Perkins shoes

Yesterday when picking up my New Look order, I popped into Dotty P and walked away with two pairs of pumps for only £13.40! I bought some pink ones for £5 and these tan ones for £12 but they had 30% off!

Street Style: Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is a goddess. If you don't agree, you would be wrong. I'm only kidding, you can have your own opinion but I love her. Since the very beginning and first album, I have seen her evolve from a country music newbie to a pop princess superstar. As well as her music evolution, we've also seen her style change since then and boy has she been looking good lately! I do love her red-carpet style; however I think she looks best in her everyday style. This year, she's been looking even more stylish and here's a closer look:

Now Taylor Swift is not one to wear black often but when she does, she does it effortlessly. Up first is Taylor wearing a black jumpsuit with strappy black heels. This would be perfect to wear in the summer for drinks with the girls. It looks dressed up without being too dressed up, if you get what I mean! Next up is another jumpsuit but this time it's a trouser suit paired with a black blazer. She looks like she's on her way to a meeting which is the perfect place for this outfit. It looks stylish but work-appropriate. Finally is Taylor in a black Erin Fetherston dress. Taylor first rocked this dress back in 2012 (see here). I love the brocade detail pattern on the dress; it keeps it from looking like any other little black dress. And of course, she pairs it with sparkly stilettos and that super cute burgundy bag!

Next up is one of Taylor's signature looks: dresses. They're the ultimate girly item and she knows how to rock a fair few of them! My personal favourites are the stripey dress in the top right corner; it looks sexy yet sophisticated (look at those legs) and the navy shirt dress (bottom row, second photo in). I love how it literally just looks like she could have just thrown in it five minutes before she ran out of the door. Oh so chic!

Shorts are her go-to item for her stage shows; however I love how she's wearing them out and about too. There's genuinely not a look here that I don't love! The best thing is any girl can easily be inspired by them and probably has similar pieces hanging in their wardrobe right now! I know I have! Black denim shorts, check. Grey cosy sweater, check. Black ankle booties, check. White long-sleeved tee, check. Oh so simple, but oh so stylish!

As of late, Taylor has been into co-ords and skater skirts but these are my ultimate favourite skirt looks of hers. I love the sheer overlay dress in photo three; it takes the outfit to a whole new level. And the H&M two-piece in photo 4 is cheap and chic. My favourite has to be look number 5. I'm not usually a fan of white but the cut-outs and the cut of this co-ord are simply stunning. I love the pop of colour with the turquoise shoes and red lips too!

Now we're firmly in autumn, I thought it apt to include some trouser outfits now it's a bit nippy! My favourite here are the stripey jumper and burgundy jeans in number 1, the light blue shirt and black pants in the top right corner and the colourblock sweater (middle, bottom row). I recently bought this jumper from Next which is a great, cheaper substitute! I'm someone who lives in jeans but now I'm inspired to find new, cuter ways of wearing them!

This post was inspired by the fact that Taylor's new album, 1989, is out on Monday. Pre-order it here like I did months ago!

What I'm Loving This Week #1

I'm starting a new weekly feature on my blog featuring the things I've been loving over the past week. This could be absolutely everything so be prepared for a random mixture!

1. The Vampire Diaries

I've been a fan since the beginning but found myself not watching the series on TV from mid season 2. I can just never be bothered to wait for the next episode on TV so I just buy the box sets instead. I'm just coming to the end of Season 4 and am once again hooked! I must say I prefer Elena as a human rather than a vampire but still she's fab. I am more of a Stefan girl though; he's sweet and sensitive as well as handsome, all of which I love in a man!

2. Maryland Cookies

I love chocolate. Thanks to my dad for buying 3 packets of them!

3. Homeware

My parents and I are planning on moving house soon so I've been obsessively looking at how to design my next bedroom. Currently mine is a bright shade of pink but I'm thinking I'll have something a bit more grown-up and elegant when we move. I'm thinking neutrals or grey and monochrome. However I love this gorgeous duvet!

4. Stripes

I seem to wear stripes all the time. I've got an array of stripey tops and jumpers currently hanging in my wardrobe. I tend to wear one with a pair of jeans and flats. They're so easy to dress up and down aswell. My fashion go-to item of the moment.

My Skincare Routine

For years and years, I've tried to find a skincare routine that doesn't irritate your skin. Having sensitive skin and eczema make it really hard to use a lot of products. Most products I find are too harsh and leave my skin itchy and blotchy. I've been to my doctors several times and they've given me so many prescriptions to try but they've all been too harsh too! Finally I think I have found a selection of products that are lightweight and here they are:

My Products

I don't always buy these products from the links provided as I look out for the best offers available. It can range from Boots, Superdrug, Wilko's, Savers, anywhere really! I also buy them in bulk so I tend to have at least 2 extra of each in my cupboard!

My Day-time Routine

As soon as I wake up, I use cotton wool to wipe my face. I find it gets rid of all the dirt on my face first. I then leave it about half an hour before continuing.

Next I use cotton wool pads to smooth the cleanser over my face and neck. After rinsing with warm water, I smooth toner over my skin. After leaving it to sink in, I moisturise,

My Night-time Routine

Firstly I take my day's make-up off with these wipes. Then I use my miscellar water to get off any make-up that might be left on my skin. Finally I use this spot-zapping gel so it can sink in overnight.

As you can see, I've tried to limit myself to using as few products at possible. Every couple of days, I use Nivea Daily Essentials Facial Scrub and that's about it. I also try to have a day a week when I don't wear any make-up; this tends to be when I have a day at home!

What are your skincare routines? Any recommended products for eczema sufferers? Comment below!
