What I'm Watching

With my current busy schedule, I don't get a massive amount of time to sit down and watch TV; however when I do, I tend to sit down to the same shows!

Pretty Little Liars

I've already seen the latest episodes on Netflix but since I had yesterday and today off sick, I've started watching the first couple of series on DVD again. I'm so obsessed with it. I'm that bad, I keep doing quizzes to see which girl I'm most like (Spencer most of the time!).

Strictly Come Dancing

I've only just watched Friday's episode as I was watching rugby but I watched Saturday night's episode live and I'm hooked already! I've got no idea who I want to win yet though!

Great British Bake Off

I'm gutted it's nearing a close but it's getting even more exciting! And breaking news today, Tamal is gay (bet lots of you are gutted!).

Downton Abbey

I don't get to watch this on a Sunday night as I need to be in bed at 9 for my 5am alarm the following morning. However, I've just watched the first episode and I love it already. Let's face it, Maggie Smith makes the show!

What's In My Bag: College Edition

Tomorrow is my first day at a brand new college; I'm very excited now I'm all organised for it (I think). Tonight will be spent pampering myself, watching rugby and getting an early night. But before all of that, I've decided to bring you all along on my journey and show you what I'll be putting inside my snazzy new rucksack! I'll also be taking two water bottles every day and my packed lunch but here is everything else that will be carried on my back!

  • Extra large rucksack- It was so difficult to find a big rucksack that was large enough to fit in my laptop. I needed that but also wanted it to look stylish when I came across this purple spotty rucksack on Amazon. It has four pockets decreasing in size, two side drinks holders and a small internal pocket at the back too.
  • Laptop and charger- I'm unsure whether I'll need this on a daily basis but at least I know that it fits in!
  • A4 notebook and pencil case- I'm old-fashioned and like writing notes but I colour-coordinate my notes so just a simple black biro is not suffice!
  • Reporter pad- This is the perfect size for practising shorthand so I've been told!
  • Mini stationary set- My dad found this super cute mini stapler, hole punch and sellotape for me about a year ago.
  • Kate Spade planner and sticker pouch- My gorgeous new planner includes everything I do on a daily basis and I like to have it to hand to add in assignments, appointments and events. The sticker pouch means I can add in stickers when I'm out and about too!
  • Tram pass/train season ticket- If I don't have this, I can't make it to Sheffield!
  • Keys- I have to drive to the station to then get on the train so these are an essential also.
  • Toiletry bag- I'm not your typical girl; my toiletry bag includes ibuprofen, a mirror, Vaseline, anti-bacterial handwash and hair grips!
  • A good book- I'll be spending over 3 hours a day on the train so a good book is necessary. Some days I'll take my Kobo but at the moment I'm reading Catcher in the Rye so that will be joining me tomorrow.
  • USB stick- Even if I don't take my laptop, I know I'll be using computers at college so I'll need to back up my files especially if I need to continue the work at home.
  • Phone- Do I really need to explain why I'm taking my phone?!
  • iPod and headphones- I can't bear train journeys with no music so this is another essential for me! I've created some playlists for me to listen to as well as just regular albums and Scott Mills podcasts.
  • Purse- I don't plan on spending much money when I'm there but I always keep my driving licence on me and will be getting a card from my college as well.

Have I forgotten anything for tomorrow before it's too late? Leave me a comment below!

My Favourite Websites For Students

As a student (still!), I'm constantly online writing assignments and shopping and have found that there are certain websites that I always visit, sometimes daily! These are my essential websites for students:

I like a bargain and I also like to make money. Sell your old stuff on eBay, keep the money in your PayPal account and then after a couple of months, you can go on a shopping spree!

Similarly to eBay, I find it easier to sell old textbooks on Amazon and I also signed up to Amazon Prime which is half price when you have an NUS card.

The best place for student discount. NUS have some great discounts but Unidays' website is much easier to navigate, I think they have a wider range of discounts and they're always having special offers on too!

College Fashion
My favourite website for any advice I might need. It has articles about organisation, fashion, beauty, college life and room tips. I've been using the website for years and there's constantly new posts being uploaded.

I've only recently paid for my Netflix subscription but am addicted already. I've only really watched Pretty Little Liars on it but I plan to up my game and try some new series when I get the chance to!

Time Management Tips

One of my goals this month is to keep organised and in order to stay organised, managing your time is vital to being an organised person. People are always saying about how organised I am but I really don't feel that I am. I still leave everything until the last minute, I still cram for tests and leave my work until deadline day, I stay up late trying to finish tasks. I always start the semester or term wih a plan and rarely seem to be able to stick to it! But nevertheless, I'm more organised than most people I know so here's my top tips on how to make the most of your time:

1. Invest in a good planner

This is always my starting point. When searching for a decent planner, you need to make sure there's plenty of space to write down all of your plans and tasks, whether you prefer a day-to-view or a week-to-view (I used to use a day-to-view one but it was too bulky to carry around). Recently I bought a beautiful new Kate Spade planner; it costs me a fair bit of money but I think that I'll use it more to get my monies' worth! Once I'm back at college, I'll be writing a post about how I organise my planner but the way to get the most use from it is to write everything down! I write work shifts, blog post ideas, birthdays, social events, rugby games and workouts. If it's not written down, I'll forget to do it, end of!

2. Write to-do lists

I write a to-do lists most days; I also write a weekly one, a monthly one and a yearly one. (yes I'm a list geek!) There's nothing more satisfying than ticking off a task on your list once it's completed! The beauty of to-do lists is that you can always move items that need doing less urgent or add tasks to the list if they need doing sooner. When you're writing your lists, make sure you include when each task needs to be done by so you can prioritise one that needs doing in a week rather than the one that has a month to be completed.

3. Set aside some 'me time'

I know it sounds weird, but I always find that I use my time better if I've scheduled in some time for myself. Whether you want to schedule in blogging, watching TV or a pamper night, try to squeeze it in once a week so you can just relax for an hour or a few! Personally, I like to use my Sunday nights to get a long hot shower, paint my nails, organise my planner/outfits and get an early night!

4. Wake up earlier

This is something I haven't done in the past week but usually I find that getting up early allows me to make the most of my day. If I wake up at half 7, I can fit in a workout, have breakfast, watch an episode of a TV show and blog before it's even dinnertime. When I start college, I'll be up at 5am so I'm really hoping to squeeze in a 10 minute workout before I have to get the train to college!

5. Prepare the night before

As I've just said, getting up at 5am is going to require me to get everything ready the night before: outfit, bag, toiletries. I know I won't be awake in a morning so having all of this ready so I can literally just wake up, get changed, wash my face, brush my teeth, grab my bag and get out of the door.

September Goals

As I'm aware, we are almost a week into September but my month started off travelling, shopping and working so please forgive me! This month is an exciting month for me as I start my new course at the Sheffield College and I'm super excited! To get in the mindset, I've set myself some goals to aim for over the next couple of weeks:

1. Spend as little as possible/save as much as possible
After going to London and spending just a wee bit of money, I am basically skint. The only items I'll be spending any money on from now on is petrol and the odd Costa hot chocolate! (not including all the expenses of my course have been paid for.)

2. Get and keep organised for college

I've bought pretty much everything I need for my course now and need to start my morning and evening routines (I'll be posting them in detail in a couple of days). I need to stick to them too and make sure I keep on top of all my work!

3. Decorate my planner every Sunday

This is my new hobby/stress relief. After spending hours Youtubing and reading blogs, I have bought myself a mountain of washi tape and stickers and am now obsessed!

4. Read more classics

I'll be spending nearly 4 hours a day on a train starting next Monday and I think this will be the ideal time to take my Kobo and read some classics. I'm currently reading Catcher in the Rye and forgot how much I love it!

5. Try to workout for 10 minutes every weekday morning before college

I've sifted through every single Tone It Up workout and have found myself my favourite short workouts and can't wait to schedule some of them for every morning. I want to keep up with the weekly schedule posted on the website but I don't know how tired I'll be on a night!

6. Drink 3 litres of water a day

This will mean that I'll be peeing all the time but I need to make sure I keep hydrated when I'll be stuck indoors/on a train all day long!
