March Goals Recap

March was such a rollercoaster of a month! I finally finished my NCTJ course but have failed my shorthand so will have to travel to sit an exam at some point. I've upped my blogging game and have finally joined in with some Twitter chats and made some lovely new blogger friends. I've had the past two weeks off but now I need to find a new job or get more hours at my current job (but my boss won't give me many!).

UK Etsy Spotlight: WendyPrints

This week, I have a shop I've only recently discovered: WendyPrints. I stumbled across Wendy's shop on Instagram and just knew I had to buy something! In the end, I bought all of this for only £12!

I did use a 25% off code but I still think I got a lot for my money and paid only £1 for shipping.

I am so into these colours. These were all seperate sheets and I actually bought two sheets of both the water stickers and the seven-day habit trackers.

These stickers I will use every week, I guarantee it. You never know when you'll need a Date Night sticker eh?

I'm so obsessed with freebie sheets and Wendy went above and beyond with these two! I love that they include a complete mix of stickers and they will all get used! And these pay day stickers? If only the numbers I write on them would be bigger!

Check out Wendy's shop here and give her a follow on Instagram here.

Lazy Day Essentials

I have a confession: I am lazy. There is nothing better for me than staying in bed all day, watching films and eating chocolate and I've done pretty much that all over Easter! As an only child, I love having time to myself to just relax and forget about the stresses of life.

Lazy days or just a night are vital to have every once in a while; everyone needs to have a day/night off to just chill out! Here are my lazy day essentials for you to have the best lazy day:

1. Comfy clothing: Pyjamas or joggers are mandatory. Sometimes I'll opt for leggings and a baggy jumper but most of the time I will go for jogging bottoms and a hoodie. It doesn't matter what you look like as long as you're comfy.

2. Hot drinks: Whether you're a tea girl or a hot chocolate girl like myself, there is no limit on how many you are allowed today.

3. Water: It's still important to keep hydrated, even when you're staying indoors for the day.

4. Junk food: Today is treat day. Order takeaway, finish those Easter eggs, bake the day before and enjoy all of the cakes. No healthy food allowed here!

5. TV boxsets/films/Netflix: You can choose whatever you want to watch, just make sure it's something you can binge-watch. I either go for a girly TV drama, musicals or chick flicks.

6. Duvet/blanket: Comfort is key as is warmth. Keep yourself as cosy as possible!

7. No make-up: If you apply a full face of make-up for a lazy day, you're doing it all wrong. Hair should be up in a messy bun or ponytail and your face should be cleansed and moisturised and that is it.

8. Mobile phone: It doesn't matter what day it is, I'm attached to my phone. On a lazy day, I try not to check it too much though so I can just detox from the world.

Tone It Up Spring Warm Up: Week 3

I was very disappointed with myself this week. I had all my workouts planned after being ill for most of the previous week and how many times did I work out? Once. I have just been so demotivated for some reason and have just decided to pig out on food and watch box sets most of the week. I have had a few little jobs to do and an extra shift at work but when I've been at home, I've been so lazy!

Wednesday was the one and only workout day for me. After a bit of a lie in, I decided to do 2 rounds of Toned Arms as well as a few The Fitness Marshall dance tutorials! As you can see from the selfie above, I was a sweaty mess after the end of that!

I'm glad to put last week behind me now and start a complete fresh this week plus I need to start burning more calories to eat all of the Easter eggs! I've already had two workout sessions today and we're not even at tea time yet! I am so ready to smash Week 4!

Life Lately #3

I am so glad that this week is over. I've had tonnes of little jobs to do which have all taken longer than I thought. I'm ready to put this week behind me and start afresh!

I've been so busy I've barely taken any photos but alas, here's the few I have uploaded!

1. The best part of Week 3 was the first thought.
2. Sunday night planning session as usual.
3. The past two weeks in my planner spread!
4. Grown up PJs featuring Minions and Perry the Platypus.
5. The one and only workout of the week was at least a fun dance workout!
6. The first half of this week in my Happy Planner.

7. A new month means the start of a new fitness challenge!
8. The pile of clothes coming to my eBay page soon!
9. After another write-off week, Week 4 will be a good one!
This week is set to be another manic week with more small jobs to be done but I'm determined to get my workouts back on track and to blog most days!

Goals for this week:

  • Exercise every day at least once (either morning or night)
  • Blog most days when I can!
  • Get my blogging schedule for April finished
  • Upload items onto my eBay ready to sell

9. How do you think your blog is doing so far? Are you satisfied? I've been a bit indifferent lately over my feelings about my blog. I've never quite posted consistently enough because life has always got in the way. I'm satisfied that I've put some work in but now I'm determined to improve it.

My Nominees

Get Fit The Fun Way

If you follow me on Instagram, you will know that I am a bit of a fitness freak! (Apart from the past couple of weeks where I've been taking it easy.) I've received quite a few messages from people I know and people I don't know asking where I get my workout ideas from.

First things first, I don't have a gym membership. Every single one of these ideas you can do at home with minimal, if any, equipment.

Second of all, I have found all of these resources myself. I have not been paid by a person or a company to promote these websites, I genuinely use them myself!

Tone It Up

My number one love. If you follow my TIU series on the blog, you will see I follow Karena and Katrina's weekly schedule online (see here for this week's) and add in any extras I feel like doing that day. Most of their workouts can be seen for free on the website along with a free printable. They have brought out DVDs and a new downloadable set of routines which I invested in but they are not a necessity. I had been following the schedules for a year before I bought anything at all!

Cassey is an amazing woman who believes that you can get fit using your own bodyweight- no equipment necessary. She delivers a monthly calendar into your email inbox at the start of every month and each day targets a different area of your body. If you're thinking bodyweight exercises are easy, think again. These routines are hard! Cassey pushes you to your limit but trust me, it will be worth it in the end. If you don't fancy following the monthly calendar, check out her YouTube channel to choose the videos you want. (My personal favourite are the Cardio Dance ones, so much fun!) She's also just released her own programme, PIIT 28, which looks like a lot of fun!

PopSugar Fitness

I've only discovered this site in the past few months but I'm obsessed with it already. Every single day, they upload numerous fitness/health articles. Many of them are workouts but there are plenty of tips and tricks about exercising, nutrition and a million other topics on the main site. There are workouts that target certain body parts, total body exercises, celebrity-inspired routines and dance party videos. My personal favourite is this one though.

The Fitness Marshall

I found The Fitness Marshall from PopSugar Fitness after looking for a dance routine YouTube channel that wasn't cheesy or easy. (As a trained dancer, I need difficulty!) And wow, these routines are hard! Well the steps aren't but the intensity and speed are! Most of the routines are around three minutes long as they are to popular songs but my god, do a few in a row and you will be dripping with sweat! And let's face it, dancing is far more fun than jogging or going on the elliptical! This one is by far my favourite so far!

Women's Health

I've been buying the magazine for about a year now and always rip out the workout routines when I've read the mag from cover to cover. However, what is better than the mag is the website, There are tonnes more routines and videos to choose from. Word of warning, the US version of he site is far better than the UK version!

Self Magazine

Similarly, another great magazine/website is Self. Earlier this year, they teamed up with Tone It Up to create the SelfxTIU month-long challenge which I plan on redoing in April! There's some great shorter-routines on there which you can do when you're short on time or add a couple of them together for a longer workout!

UK Etsy Spotlight: StickelCo

This week's Etsy Spotlight features one of my all-time favourite stores: StickelCo. In the past six months, I've made five orders with Kelly because I love the shop so much! For me, it's the colours that I love. All the pastel colours go with a range of kits that I already have!

These dots I use all the time. I use them in the sidebar of my planner as well as on a daily basis for a range of things!

Instagram stickers? Who doesn't want those? These will be perfect for reminding myself to post photos of my half week spread in my planner!

I genuinely love Kelly's shop; it's definitely in my top 3. She produces new stock all the time but still produces the old stock because it is fab!

Make sure to check out Kelly's shop here and follow her on Instagram here.

Forever 21 Wishlist

My all-time favourite shop is really smashing it out of the park right now. Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near a store (or is that fortunately because I'd never have any money!) so I spend all my money online! It doesn't help that I hate paying for postage so I HAVE to spend £50 to get it for free!

Ultimately, I shop there because of the quality for the prices. Low prices usually means low quality but I've always been impressed by the materials used!

After scrolling through the website this morning, I stumbled across so many items and thought I'd share my wishlist with you all!

Manic Mondays Be Gone

Monday mornings, does anyone actually enjoy them? In fact, does anyone like Mondays in general? If you work Mondays or are at school/college/university, that moment when you arrive home after a long day is one of the best feelings in the world. Mondays are long, stressful and often just a complete nightmare and most of the time, it's because we're so dis-organised. We wake up on Monday morning and have to choose what outfit to wear, what food to pack for lunch, what chores need to be done when we get home. The list is endless.

If we really get our act together, we could eradicate all of this stress by doing one simple thing? Doing it all on a...
Most people have the day off but most of us use it for either staying in bed or watching TV. For me, I find that once I've got everything in order on a Sunday, I have the whole of the night to myself to do whatever I want with!

Here are my top tips to having a Sunday routine:

  • Don't stay in bed until dinner. I know, I know, it's soooooo hard to have an extra long lie-in but why not do that on Saturday if you can? However, I'm not saying hello 5am but get up at the latest at 10am.
  • Get your chores done. Laundry, cleaning, changing the sheets. The more you do today, the less you have to do during the week! Whilst you're cleaning, have a quick tidy-up too; you know what they say: tidy space, tidy mind!
  • Plan your week ahead. We're talking work, meals, workouts, studying, date nights, socialising, TV to watch, blog posts to schedule, anything that you would put in your diary!
  • Meal prep. Get your lunch ready for Monday and have it packed and ready to go! Fill up your water bottles and leave them in the fridge. Put out your breakfast pots ready for the morning.
  • Lay out your outfits for the week. While you're at it, lay out your workout outfits too with your trainers, weights and yoga mat.
  • Charge your appliances. I charge my phone every day but on Sunday nights, I make sure my iPod is charged because I can't live without it!
  • Set yourself some goals for the week. Make them as huge or as small as you want them to be. Just don't make them too big or else you'll feel defeated if you don't reach them.
  • Spend quality time with friends and family. If you manage to get all of that done, you will have spare time. Use it to spend with your loved ones. Go out for lunch or ring your grandparents for a chat, whatever takes your fancy!
  • Get outside. You could incorporate this with the previous point. Grab your other half/parents/siblings and take a walk.
  • Schedule some 'me' time. This is for you to choose what will help you relax. Take a bath, paint your nails, read a book, watch a film. If you have time, do them all!
  • Do some yoga or pilates before bed. I love stretching before bed; it's a great workout without breaking up a sweat!
  • Get an early night! I like to be tucked up in bed by 10.30pm on a Sunday, all ready for an early alarm on Monday!
Just remember...

Life Lately #2

This week has been one of the worst ever. I'm pleased I've blogged more than I have done recently in the past week and my love life is on the way up (see Friday's TMI post for more details!). Other than that it has been a bad week: I've spent all week ill with a cold/flu, I had to travel to Sheffield on Tuesday, I sat two exams on Wednesday and then spent most of Thursday and Friday in bed!

Luckily today I'm gradually feeling better and I've had a productive day. I've cleaned the spare bedroom and my desk, I've planned my workouts for the next week, I've got a list of all the Twitter blogger chats using Nicole's fabulous post and now I'm writing up some blog posts. I am on a roll!

Here's a look at this weeks Instagram posts:

1. I bought a new fitness planner from a girl on Facebook; so excited to start using it next month!
2. My favourite Taylor Swift lyric. It's from the song Enchanted.
3. My latest sticker haul from Plannable Designs; Etsy spotlight post will follow soon!
4. What better way to spend the day being ill than watching such classic films?
As you can see, this week's Instagram catch up has been replaced with Life Lately; it just seems to be a bit more informal and chatty and I can add in little snippets from my life too. Also, with being ill this week, I've not taken many photos!

Tomorrow's regular post of Tone It Up Spring Warm Up (see Week 1 here) will not be posted. I'll have another post for you all but there's no point in me writing a post when I've done no workouts this past week! Instead, Week 3, to be posted on Easter Monday, will hopefully be all of Week 3's workouts planned plus extras from Week 2 that I've been able to fit in!

Goals for the week:

  • Workout every day with double workouts on the days I'm not working
  • Get involved in more Twitter chats: I took part in a couple this week and loved them!
  • Get my eBay shop back up and running and sell my old clothes and books on there!
  • Write a to-do list to use for improving my blog

Are there any posts you think I should write about? Any tips for improving my blog? Leave me a comment below or tweet me here!

The TMI Tag

I'll be honest, I had no idea what to do for today's post. I was scrolling through Bloglovin' (follow my blog here) and stumbled upon Missamrunaway's TMI tag. UK Etsy Spotlight: Beautiful Planning

The next installment features a shop I have only recently discovered: Beautiful Planning. As a smaller shop, there is not as much choice as some of the others out there but I was amazed by the colour schemes mostly and the quality!

I love a personalised note!

This is an example of a full set from Natasha's store. You can buy each sheet seperately or buy the full kit (6 sheets) for £6.25. I also love that you can order the kits for Erin Condren planners and Happy Planners so they will fit perfectly in either!

I love a glitter set!

The patterns are gorgeous!
Visit Natasha's Etsy shop here or her Instagram here. She also has a code running: get 10% off by using the code IGFRIENDS10!

Tone It Up Spring Warm Up: Week 1

If you follow me on Instagram (and if you don't, do it now!), you will know that fitness is a big part of my life thanks to Tone It Up. I've been following the programme for a while now but am only finally starting to schedule my workouts in properly.

Last week was week 1 of the Spring Warm-Up series, an 8 week series that leads up the start of the Bikini Series! I thought it would be a good idea to share my journey with you all as it is something I am passionate about.

Some of my fitness Instagram posts from the past week!

My Week in Workouts:

  • Monday: AMWO: Set The Bar + Tone HIIT Up. (I also took my measurements/weight and will do this every 2 weeks) PMWO: A couple pf Blogilates videos (Heartbeat Heaven and Slim 'n' Sculpt) + Total Body Tone Up + #30DaysPilatesBody Day 4.
  • Tuesday: AMWO: Burn It Up + 5 Minute Abs. PMWO: None.
  • Wednesday: Rest day.
  • Thursday: AMWO: Boxing HIIT Workout + Kettle Booty. PMWO: 5 videos from The Fitness Marshall's Youtube channel.
  • Friday: Rest day.
  • Saturday/Sunday: Rest days.

What went well this week:
I was really happy with my workouts at the start of the week. Even though I didn't workout over the weekend, I didn't eat as much rubbish food as I thought I was. I've tried to increase my protein intake and limit the amount of chocolate I eat. I could never cut it out completely so only having a handful is better than eating a huge share bag!

Areas for improvement next week:
I want to try to workout every single day. I have exams on Wednesday so I won't be having an AMWO that day but I hope to do a quick PMWO once I get home. Although I have next Thursday and Friday off to relax, I still want to get moving as my days off are just turning into lazy days! I also want to start walking more!

If you want to join me on this journey, the week 2 schedule (which starts today) is live on the website now!

UK Etsy Spotlight: Planner Peace UK

Next up in my UK Etsy Spotlight series (see the previous posts here) is a shop I have only discovered recently, PlannerPeaceUK. As a fairly new shop, Claire does not have hundreds of items to choose from. In fairness, I'd never expect her to as she only opened in September! In the store there are a few monthly and weekly sets, all set at an expected price compared to other shops. Some weekly sets come with 8 sheets of stickers so for £10, I think that's a bargain!

With the order I placed with Claire, I was looking for functional stickers that would complement some weekly sets that I already have and came across these:

I adore the girly colour schemes and super cute background patterns so much that I intend to buy more when I start working more hours!

As a cute little extra, I received this sampler sheet with my order. Once again, I love the variety of stickers as well as the colours!

To all of the UK sticker and planner girls out there, I urge you to check Claire's shop out! Find her Etsy shop here or follow the shop on Instagram now!

Get To Know Me: Magazines

As a very-nearly-qualified journalist (2 weeks until my NCTJ course is over!), I think it's fair to say that as much as I love to write, I equally love to read. With my course being so jam-packed, the only books I'm reading are textbooks! After my previous post about my favourite books, I decided to focus on another form of reading that is close to my heart, magazines.

Ever since I could read, I've loved magazines. I think the first one I ever got was a Tots TV mag that focused on a different animal every week. Then I discovered girly magazines and started to collect them: Sabrina the Teenage Witch, S Club Style, the Tracy Beaker mag, Girl Talk, Mizz, Angelina Ballerina, you name it, I bought it!

When I left school and started to think about my journalism dreams, I started to read fashion magazines. I found Look, More, Teen Vogue, Seventeen, Cosmo, Glamour. I stayed away from the glossy monthlies like Vogue and Tatler; we had them in the college library and I was always annoyed by the lack of articles and stories and annoyed with the amount of adverts in them!

Last year, I stopped buying the fashion and celebrity weeklies because they often print fabricated stories plus I have no idea who half of the reality stars are in them (I don't watch TOWIE, Geordie Shore or Made In Chelsea). I continued buying the fashion monthlies because I love the regular features in them and they tend to get quality cover stars too.

I also discovered fitness magazines; I've always tried to keep fit but only in the past year or so have I really started to focus on my health and well-being too. I buy these mags to give me new workout ideas, tips and advice!
