The Make-Up Story Tag

make-up-superdrug-the-english-everygirl

I love discovering new blogs and recently found Aqy's blog through Twitter and saw that she has posted this Make-Up Story Tag.

How old were you when you started wearing makeup?
With me having a childhood in dance, I started wearing make-up when I was about 3 or 4 for dance shows/competitions. It started with blue eyeshadow, black eyeliner flicks and coral lips (strong look I know)!

How did you get into makeup?
I didn't really have a choice in wearing make-up; when you grow up as a dancer, you have to wear make-up. I was much better when I got older and was trusted to apply my own though!

What are some of your favourite brands?
Rimmel has always been a brand I've loved but now I'm a newly-converted fan of MUA, Essence and Make-Up Revolution! I've never really tried any high-end brands unless they've come as a free gift with a magazine. I will pay for quality but wouldn't want to spend a lot of money and not like the product.

What does makeup mean to you?
It gives me confidence. If you feel good about how you look, it makes you feel good! I wear make-up for me, not to impress guys! My make-up style will depend on my mood. Feeling confident and sexy? I'll rock a smokey eye. Feeling fresh and alert? I'll just add a slick of mascara and a nude/pink lip.

If you could only wear 4 products on your face, what would they be?
Foundation, concealer, mascara and lipstick.

What's your favourite thing about makeup?
Trying different options. I love it when I have a spare day and can spend hours trying new looks out!

What do you think of Drugstore VS. High End makeup?
I'm sure high-end make-up is quality, it's just not in my price range. I'm perfectly happy using the cheap stuff for now!

What is one tip you would give to a beginner?
Don't go out and buy a load of designer gear. Try the cheaper brands first to see if certain colours suit you. I buy MUA lipsticks first just in case I don't like them because they're only £1! Also instead of buying seperate eyeshadows, invest in a palette. Make-Up Revolution have some great ones that start from £4!

What is one makeup trend you've never understood?
Blusher. I've always looked like a clown after applying!

What do you think of the beauty community on YouTube?
I can't say I watch many Youtube videos but I think it's a great way to get yourself out there. I only like them if the reviews are honest though as I imagine a lot of people will buy the products after watching the videos.

I tag all you lovely beauty bloggers out there to do this fun tag!

  2. I love reading tag posts! I have a mix of high end and high street make up and I agree with you - the high end stuff is great quality but I just can't justify spending so much on make up.

    1. Anything high end I have is free from a magazine! I'm on a bit of a budget lately so high-end make-up is out of the picture! x
