To Read Summer 2016

to-read

"The more you read, the more things you know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."

Dr Seuss once said that and I think it's a great quote. Reading stimulates the brain and expands your imagination which is something everyone can do with.

I've loved to read for as long as I can remember; it's always been my place to go when I'm felt happy or sad or lonely or excited. Reading takes your mind elsewhere, even if it is just for 10 minutes a day.

I've such a book hoarder; I buy them and never seem to get round to reading them. Mostly I end up reading the same books over and over (Harry Potter and Lindsey Kelk's I heart... series) but it's about time I read something else! I've been having a bit of a clearout and these were a few of the books that I have yet to read but plan on doing so this summer.

The Tidy Closet: Tips From A French Woman- Marie-Anne Lecoeur

Decluttering has become one of my favourite hobbies and who has the perfect wardrobe? French women. Classic, simple and chic is the way I dress now and this book is full of pointers and advice of managing your closet and picking pieces that are right for you.

Spark Joy- Marie Kondo

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying changed my life. I got my copy for free from a charity and have used it ever since. It's really changed my mindset on material things and Spark Joy is the follow-up. It is a more in-depth look at each area of the house and how to organise certain items. If you're someone who has a lot of stuff like I had, buy these two books and you will downsize almost immediately.

What Would Audrey Do?- Pamela Keogh

For those who don't know, I'm a huge Audrey Hepburn fan. I love her grace and classiness, compared to some other Hollywood starlets. When I'm in a certain situation, I think what would Audrey Hepburn or Blair Waldorf do? This book has recently been updated and you can get the newer version here.

You First- Lea Michele

After reading Lea's first book, Brunette Ambition, I knew I had to buy her second. The first one's title just sums herself and me up in two words. The follow-up is a journal to write down all the feelings you have, kind of like a writter version of a blog I guess!

the-desire-map-danielle-laporte

The Desire Map- Danielle Laporte

Goal-setting has been something I've done personally since I was in school. I'm a firm believer that if you write them down, you will feel accountable towards them and ultimately work harder to achieve them. This book makes you reflect on who you are and what you want.

Have you read any decent books lately? Leave me a comment below with suggestions!
