Matte lipsticks have been everywhere lately and I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and try some out. I never thought I'd wear lipstick again after years of having to wear a coral shade for every single dance show or competition. Since I was about 15, I've steered clear of them, thinking they're mostly for old ladies.

However, when I started blogging, and in particular reading other people's blogs, I realised that my fear of lipstick was one I had to overcome. Since then, they've been the make-up item that I've collected the most and experimented with the most too.

In the past few months, I've seen a whole host of bloggers reviewing these Rimmel Only 1 Matte lipsticks sent to them so after seeing the full range online, I decided to take a trip to my local Boots and have a nosy at the shades in person. There are nine shades in total and at £6.99 each, you could buy them all! Even better, they're on a BOGOF offer in Boots right now! The two shades I chose were High Flyer and The Matte Factor.

The first shade here is High Flyer; it's a pinky nude which tend to be my go-to daily colour for work (not too showy but showy enough!). This to me is the most universal shade of the range. I think it's one that every skin colour will suit and it will also suit a lot of different make-up looks.

The second shade is called The Matte Factor; it's a deep red but with a shade of pink underlying. I'll be saving this shade for special occasions I think as it is a deep shade for me. Because it has pink undertones, I think it will also suit a lot of skintones.

Having tried a couple of matte lipglosses, I've found them to be incredibly drying. These have a creamy texture which I was surprised by. They didn't last all day which didn't surprise me as I wasn't expecting them too! I can't pick a favourite between these two and am tempted to buy the whole collection when my no-spend January is up!

Have you tried the Only 1 Matte range? Do you have a favourite shade yet? Leave me a comment below!

  1. I haven't tried this range yet although I've seen them everywhere! I do love Rimmel lipsticks and I think they last really well for the price - I don't really expect any lipstick to last all day but maybe I'm trying the wrong ones!

  2. I haven't tried these myself yet but I love the look of high flyer, it looks like a perfect nude for myself! It's ideal how they are creamy too because I hate matte formulas that are too drying and crumble away. I need to go and check these out soon!

  13. Blogging has really encouraged me to branch out and try out new makeup that I'd never even considered before as well! Can't say I blame you for wanting to give lippie a break after having to wear coral for years on end though! The Matte Factor has to be my favourite of the colours that you picked out, it really works well with your skin tone!

  14. I love a good lipstick, but I'm scared of lighter colours. Weirdly I know I suit dark colours, but the lighter colours always make me feel like I look weird. I think I need to get into 'something new' again.

I'd love to see you wearing it!

  15. I love a good lipstick and have seen these everywhere but for some reason they are still something which I have not tried. Maybe next time I see these I will pick some up. I love the look of these I know I like the darker colours so this is something which I am going to look for.
