#BLOGMAS DAY 3: THE WATCH-LIST: NOVEMBER 2017

If you caught this post last month, it's a new series I've started where I share with you all the TV and films I've been watching lately.

Musicals

Annie Get Your Gun
I had this on whilst writing some articles so I wasn’t giving it my full attention. I do adore some of the songs in this musical but it wasn’t my favourite. It just wasn’t very captivating which I normally find musicals to be!

Bugsy Malone
An absolute classic musical! I think I’d come home from a crap day at work or uni and this film always cheers me up. It’s complete nonsense and the acting is pretty rubbish but the songs are amazing and it brings back some great memories of performing when I was younger and at uni the first time round! Who doesn’t love Fat Sam’s Grand Slam?

Burlesque
This film has become a firm favourite of mine over the years. I wasn’t really into it the first time round but since then, I’ve grown quite fond of it. Maybe it’s the songs or maybe it’s Cam Gigandet’s beautiful face? There’s no denying that Christina Aguilera can belt out a tune! My one wish is for Kristen Bell and Julianne Hough to feature in it more!

Cabaret
I can’t believe that I’ve never seen this film, I really wish I’d have watched it sooner because I as hooked on it. I already knew most of the songs from it due to my musical theatre background but I didn’t know a huge lot about the plot. I will always be a Judy Garland girl but I really enjoyed Liza Minnelli’s performance; she really embodied the character and has a different style of talent to her mother.

TV Shows

The City seasons 1-2
If you know anything about me, you’ll know that I’m a huge fan of The Hills and Lauren Conrad. I’m also a Whitney Port fan which is why I like watching The City. Unfortunately, it’s not quite the same calibre as The Hills but it’s watchable, nonetheless. I personally wish it focused more on Whitney in her job, not her love life; that’s why I prefer The Hills (LC and Whitney at Teen Vogue is my fave!) but it’s still a good show to put on whilst you’re trying to do work!

Arrow season 3
I’ve only recently got into watching Arrow, just before I moved to uni. I’ve been a lover of The Flash since the beginning so I thought it was about time I gave Arrow a go! I think my favourite character so far is Felicity; she’s beautiful, incredibly smart and puts Oliver in his place! So far, I love all the action scenes and really hope that Oliver and Felicity will just stop messing about and become a proper couple!

Chicago Fire season 3
Most of you will know how obsessed I am about this TV show. After watching seasons 1-2 last month, it’s now time for season 3. This is the series that makes me emotional because Peter Mills leaves. He was one of my favourites from the beginning, along with Gabby Dawson, so I get a little teary when he leaves! I say a little teary, I mean an emotional wreck.

Dynasty
Now I'd never watched the original series as I'm a little young but I've really been enjoying this new Netflix series. It's a bit like Gossip Girl, based on a family with a lot of money. The characters aren't particularly relatable but it's not the worst show I've ever seen!

Other Films

She's The Man
My favourite film without doubt. Amanda Bynes should’ve won an Oscar for her role as Viola/Sebastian! It was also the first time I’d ever seen Channing Tatum on screen and that’s when I fell in love. He’s handsome AND funny? A rare breed! I then went on to watch pretty much every film he’s ever been in! This is also the film that I’ve been known to quote approximately a million times a year. “Girls with asses like mine do not talk to boys with faces like yours.” I can go on and on, I know the film off by heart.

(500) Days of Summer
I’m not crazy for many sappy romantic films (unless they’re Nicholas Sparks ones!) so I love the twist in this film. It’s so great to see the guy falling for the girl who doesn’t quite reciprocate his feelings! Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel are fine talents and I’ve always wished they were an actual couple.

This Means War
Ah, Tom Hardy or Chris Pine? I clearly watch this film for the amazing storyline and impeccable acting. Just kidding, I watch it to see the faces of these two fine actors. In all fairness, those two along with Reese Witherspoon, are decent actors but this film doesn’t really showcase that. However, it is really funny and they’re both very good-looking.

The Devil Wears Prada
After watching it for the first time last month, I just can’t stop watching it!

The Riot Club
I had planned to watch this film in advance but ended up making plans on the night it was on Film4. I arrived home and tuned in and I’d only missed the first 20 minutes or so. I was horrified by this film. I mean, does this actually happen at Oxbridge secret societies? They beat innocent people up? I mean, I know it’s just a film but I found it so shocking as it is inspired by true stories. Despite that, the film does feature some incredible British talent: Douglas Booth, Sam Claflin, Holliday Grainger, Max Irons, Jessica Brown Findlay, Natalie Dormer and Freddie Fox to name just a few. However, the film left me with an icky feeling.
