BLOGTOBER DAY 8 | MY HOLY GRAIL

Around Christmas time, I bulk bought a lot of make-up. By a lot, I mean three big make-up bags full and a tonne of palettes. I made the decision to stop using the stuff I always use and test the new stuff daily. However, when you love a specific product, you can't help but gravitate back towards it!

I've tried so many products and so many brands over the years but going cruelty-free over the past year or so, made me realise that many of my favourite products were not CF. It's taken some adjustment but I've finally found products that I really love. I reach for these products daily. I have to admit, some of these brands have been a little skeptical over their CF status but they have all released CF statements so I use them for now.

If I could use just these products for the rest of my life, I would. And you can tell from saying that, they'll probably get discontinued next week...

FACE

Primer | Revolution Ultra Face Base Primer, £5.00 and LA Girl Pro Prep HD High Definition Smoothing Face Primer, £6.00

I like a gel primer; it just seems to glide on better and makes my make-up stay longer. I really like the texture both of these and they're a great price: bonus! The Revolution one is often out of stock in my local Superdrug so I stock up when I can! I've recently ran out of the LA Girl one but have yet to restock it. I'm trying to get through my mountains of new stuff before I start re-buying my faves!

Foundation No7 Essentially Natural Foundation in Warm Ivory, £10.00 and Revolution Fast Base Foundation Stick in F6, £5.00

I've had the Essentially Natural foundation for a couple of years now and it's a really light coverage, almost like a tinted moisturiser. It's great for everyday use for work and you can always add a second layer for more coverage. The Revolution one is a new buy for me and I'll be honest, I didn't like it at first. I found it to heavy during the summer but now it's colder, it's a much thicker coverage for those days when your skin is not looking too good!

Concealer Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Cool Medium 2, £4.19 and Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer in C5, £4.00

Pretty much every beauty blogger's holy grail concealer is this Collection one! I find myself switching between shades 1 and 2 (1 in the winter, 2 in the summer) depending on if my skin is slightly tanned or not. I look like Casper for 95% of the year but sometimes shade 1 is a little too light! The Revolution one is a new discovery one and I've found myself reaching for this when I use their foundation.

Powder Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Power Powder in Cool Medium 2, £4.19

I don't always use powder as I have dry skin but when I do, this is my favourite. It's lightweight and it never budges! I've never been able to find another shade as close to my skintone as this one so it's another product I buy in bulk when it's on offer!

Highlighter | LA Girl Velvet Hi-Lite Contour Stick in Luminous, £4.00

I tend not to use much highlighter during the week because I go for subtlety at work. This shade is a light golden shade which really complements my skintone. You can tell you're wearing it but it doesn't blind you!

Contour Freedom Make-Up London Pro Contour Shaped Stick in Fair 01, £5.00

I've re-discovered my love of contour lately but I like products that make my life easier. This contour stick is one of them. It glides on and then smudges in quickly too! I can't be bothered to use a full palette very often so this is so handy for me!

Setting SprayNYX Professional Make-Up Matte Finish Long-Lasting Setting Spray, £7.00

The most important step of my make-up routine is my setting spray. I hate that sometimes I'm in too much of a rush and forget it! This NYX one is definitely the best one I've ever found; nothing else compares to it!

EYES

Eye PrimerNYX Professional Make-Up HD Eye Shadow Base, £6.00 and Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original, £17.50

Urban Decay is my idea of high-end. It's probably not for most but I don't earn a lot of money, I've just spent a year doing my Masters and most high-end brands aren't CF. I've gone through so many tubes of the NYX primer and never thought I'd find anything as good but for three times the price, the UD one doesn't get used quite as much!

Nude EyeshadowMUA Matte Eyeshadow in Fudge, £1.00

I always use a nude shadow when I'm doing my eyes. Mostly I just wear this, eyeliner and mascara because it's quick and doesn't require much effort. For £1, it's a steal this MUA shade. It's a great colour for my lids; it's nude but just slightly darker than my eyelids. It's another item that's rarely in stock so it's another bulk buy!

Mascara No7 Extreme Length Mascara, £13.00, Essence Cosmetics Maximum Definition Mascara, £2.80 and Barry M Feature Length Mascara, £4.99

I have about 10 mascaras on rotation. I keep them for longer than the recommended six months because I use teach one probably once a fortnight. If they start going clumpy or smelling funky, in the bin they go! These three are all my favourites, I simply couldn't choose just one! The No7 one is the newest in my collection but I only ever get it when it's on some kind of offer. The Essence one might be my fave because of the price! Their whole range is so underrated too.

Eyeliner Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Zero and Whiskey, £15.50Barry M Bold Waterproof Eyeliner in Black, £3.99 and Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in Rose Glow, £12.00

I used pencil kohl eyeliner for the longest time before using a waterproof pencil and I've never looked back since! My UD one was a bargain because it's a two-in-one but I'm struggling to find a new one! The Pixi one I actually got in a set of three last year with a black and lighter brown shade and they just glide on. I only really wear blacks and browns for eyeliner so it's nice to add a pop of colour occasionally!

LIPS

Lip Primer | NYX Professional Make-Up Lip Primer, £6.50

I struggle with wearing stuff on my lips. I constantly have chapped lips and I'm prone to biting the skin off (gross, I know) so after a thick layer of lip balm, this is the primer I go for every time. NYX seem to really do great base layer products for all areas of the face!

Lipstick | Essence Cosmetics Long-Lasting Lipstick in Natural Beauty 07, £2.30 and Kiko Milano Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick in Mauve 315, £6.90

I tend to be quite dull during the week with lip colours. Working in an office full of men means I stick to natural colours as opposed to bright/deep shades. Essence are one of my fave brands to try new lip colours because they're so cheap but great quality. Kiko have such a wide range of colours but I always get the same shades: nudes, deep red and deep pinks. Plus they have an amazing magnetic closing which means the lid never falls off!

Matte Lips | NYX Professional Make-Up Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes, £6.00, The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid in 030 Crete Carnation and No7 Matte Lip Crayon in Raspberry Wine, £9.00

Matte lips are my staple for work and I gravitate to these three products every day. I literally do just rotate them, which is silly because I have tonnes of other lip products! The NYX and Body Shop shades are very similar but the No 7 crayon is a deeper pink. I got it free in a gift set for an offer and then went out and got the full size product not long after!

As you can see, many of these products are from the same brands. I prefer drugstore brands because they're such good value for money! Even if I had all the money in the world, I still wouldn't buy just high-end! Being cruelty-free is really important to me. I find that Superdrug is way better than Boots for this although Boots are getting more and more CF brands on board which is great news!
