BEAUTY | BRAND FOCUS: URBAN DECAY
If you hadn’t guessed it already: I’m a make-up addict. I collect other things too but make-up is just so pretty to look at! Urban Decay has been at the top of my wishlist for quite some time. I’ve always been a budget beauty kind of gal but this year, I’ve started to minimise my belongings and buying more quality products. I’ve decluttered my wardrobe, my desk and my skincare drawers but my make-up collection is ever-growing.
I’ve tried to sort through my collection but everytime I attempt to have a clearout, I get distracted and think ‘I’ll use this later down the line’. Once I got rid of all of my non cruelty-free products, my collection started looking a bit bare. Since then, I’ve added in pieces that I know I will use!
Since I want to add better-quality products (don’t get me wrong, I still love a bargain), Urban Decay was the first brand on my list. A while ago, I received Beached Bronzer in Sunkissed from Becca at Fashion Train after winning her giveaway. I’ll admit, I’m not crazy for bronzers. When I used to dance, I used to use one all of the time because I’m so pale and on stage, it shows. Since then, I’ve barely used one.
Nowadays my face seems to tan naturally, compared to my body which stays milk-bottle white. However, who doesn’t like to look a little tan?
The beauty is with the Beached Bronzer is it’s perfect for most skintones. I’m not sure what it would be like on incredibly light/dark skin but for most people, this shade will be just fine. It’s quite a sheer shade so it depends on how dark you want your make-up to be. You can always layer it as many times as you want to and it blends reallllly easily!
Let’s face it, the packaging is so cute and expensive-looking. I fell in love with this bronzer as soon as I laid eyes on it! This bronzer is now a staple in my make-up bag, especially during the summer! To say this was my first venture into Urban Decay, I was so impressed, I went on the lookout for more products!
After a rough day at work a couple of weeks ago, I decided to pop into Debenhams near my work to have a browse around their UD section. Once again, I gravitated towards the lipstick section.
Currently in my collection, I have a lot of reds and deep pinks due to the winter months. I need some summer shades and a bright pink is the way to go!
After browsing the selection, I did have my eye on a different shade. After the lovely sales assistant had a look for the original shade I was after but couldn’t find it, she found me a shade very similar. Sheer Vice Lipstick in Ladyflower is a gorgeous rose pink shade; it states on the packaging that it’s sheer so it’s to be expected that the colour isn’t very pigmented. However, it’s less sheer than I thought but still perfect for daytime.
Once again, the packaging is beautiful! £15 is more than I’ve ever paid for a lipstick but when they look this beautiful and the quality is so good, I reckon I can treat myself to one every so often! Its staying power is pretty decent but then again, I suppose if you’re eating or talking a lot, it might not last as long! As I like to do both, it only lasted a few hours on me!
The second item that caught my eye was the 24/7 Glide-On Double-Ended Eye Pencil in Naked (Zero and Whiskey). I’ve been a huge fan of my Barry M Bold Waterproof Eyeliner for a few weeks now but I wanted to try another brand.
As soon as I saw that it was basically two products for the price of one, I was sold immediately! Let’s face it, how many of us use our eyeliners until their very end?
I got a slight bit confused at first with the product as I didn’t realise they could be sharpened! Zero is a sharp black shade and Whiskey is a mid-brown colour. I must say I LOOOOOVE this product already! It’s so incredibly smooth to apply.
I suck at eyeliner but this literally goes on with one swipe! I know they’re not a new product but I’ve been such a kohl pencil girl for so long, I didn’t think I could change my ways! The Glide-On Eye Pencil is highly pigmented, waterproof and really creamy.
I can’t believe how long-lasting this eyeliner is either! Obviously using a great primer (here’s looking at you, NYX) really helps but this lasts all day, which I find is very hard on my eyelids for some reason! Now I’ve seen the whole range, I may well be experimenting with new colours!
Next on my wishlist from UD is one of the Naked palettes obvs but I should probably use my existing eyeshadow palettes before I even think about buying a new one!
