Matte lipsticks have been everywhere lately and I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon and try some out. I never thought I’d wear lipstick again after years of having to wear a coral shade for every single dance show or competition. Since I was about 15, I’ve steered clear of them, thinking they’re mostly for old ladies.

However, when I started blogging, and in particular reading other people’s blogs, I realised that my fear of lipstick was one I had to overcome. Since then, they’ve been the make-up item that I’ve collected the most and experimented with the most too.

In the past few months, I’ve seen a whole host of bloggers reviewing these Rimmel Only 1 Matte lipsticks sent to them so after seeing the full range online, I decided to take a trip to my local Boots and have a nosy at the shades in person. There are nine shades in total and at £6.99 each, you could buy them all! Even better, they’re on a BOGOF offer in Boots right now! The two shades I chose were High Flyer and The Matte Factor.

The first shade here is High Flyer; it’s a pinky nude which tend to be my go-to daily colour for work (not too showy but showy enough!). This to me is the most universal shade of the range. I think it’s one that every skin colour will suit and it will also suit a lot of different make-up looks.

The second shade is called The Matte Factor; it’s a deep red but with a shade of pink underlying. I’ll be saving this shade for special occasions I think as it is a deep shade for me. Because it has pink undertones, I think it will also suit a lot of skintones.

Having tried a couple of matte lipglosses, I’ve found them to be incredibly drying. These have a creamy texture which I was surprised by. They didn’t last all day which didn’t surprise me as I wasn’t expecting them too! I can’t pick a favourite between these two and am tempted to buy the whole collection when my no-spend January is up!
