The Beauty Tag

Tag time! After scrolling through Bloglovin’, I stumbled upon Juliet’s post and thought seeing as I’m discovering a love for beauty products recently, what better way than to show you all a bit of my routine and what products I like the most!

How many times do you wash your face daily? Twice most of the time. I like to use micellar water, cleanser, toner and moisturiser but sometimes on a night if I’m lazy, I just use a make-up wipe (cardinal sin, I know!)

What skin type do you have? Sensitive. I have eczema as well so it is a pain in the backside to find products that don’t react with my skin.

What is your current facial wash? I don’t use a facial wash, just the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water that everyone loves!

Do you exfoliate? Yes, usually twice a week. I use it when I’m in the shower so I don’t forget!

What brand do you use? I use Wilko Skin Therapy Sensitive Skin Facial Scrub or Nivea Daily Essential Facial Scrub.

What moisturiser do you use?  Because of my eczema, I use two moisturisers. First I apply an Asda own moisturiser for dry skin (I think it’s discontinued now) and then I apply either Boots Simply Sensitive Protecting Day Moisturiser or Boots Simply Sensitive Gentle Night Moisturiser.

Do you have freckles? Nope but people who do should embrace them for definite!

Do you use eye cream? Not yet but as soon as I turn 25, I will. I read once that’s the age you should start using it!

Do you or did you have acne prone skin? I can’t say I’ve ever had proper acne. I’ve always had odd spots but never really bad. However, because I try so many products and they react with my skin, my skin can break out because of that.

Did you ever use Pro-Activ? No, but I’m curious as to if it really is that amazing!

What foundation do you use? I’ve been using Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation in Ivory for a couple of years now and rarely use anything else. I’ve tried three different shades and Ivory seems to be the best colour for me.

How about concealer? After seeing allllll the bloggers using it, I bought Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and I can confirm I’m a fan. I also just bought Make-Up Revolution Ultra Base Corrector Palette so I’m excited to try it out.

Do you know your undertone colour? Pink? I blush easily. In theory I have no idea what this is.

What do you think of fake eyelashes? I hate them. When I used to dance, I wore them for performances but they never felt comfortable. Now I won’t touch them!

Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every three months? Yes but as I’m rotating between 4 mascaras currently, I keep them a bit longer as most of them aren’t cheap!

What brand of mascara do you use? I use an Essence long lash mascara occasionally but I mostly use No7’s Extreme Length Extended, Stay Perfect and Exceptional Definition.

Sephora or MAC? I’ve never had a product from either brand so couldn’t really comment.

Do you have a MAC Pro-card? No, see above.

What makeup tools do you use in makeup application? I’ve only just started using brushes so I just bought a few from Bodycare but I’ve got my eye on the Real Technique brushes and keep price-watching them. I also use a sponge and cotton buds.

Do you use a makeup base/primer for the eyes? I don’t. I usually use a nude eyeshadow as a base first anyway.

For the face? I use George at Asda Face Primer which I like and bonus: it hasn’t reacted with my skin so far!

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner? Pencil all the way. I can’t seem to get to grips with liquid. I’ve tried a felt eyeliner and quite liked that but I love that I can smudge pencils and create a smoky eye without too much hassle!

How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil? Not often.

Do you use mineral makeup? Not that I know of, is it any good?

How about lipgloss? I used to be obsessed with gloss during my teen years but now I rarely use it that much. Now I much prefer lipstick and tinted balms.

What is your favourite blush? I don’t use blush, I blush enough as it is!

Do you buy your makeup from eBay? I never have done and doubt I will. I have trust issues.

Do you like drugstore makeup? Considering that’s all I buy, yes! I don’t feel that I know enough about make-up to purchase high-end goods. Also I don’t want to pay tonnes of money on a product and then find it reacts with my skin!

Did you ever consider taking makeup classes? When I was younger, my godmother used to work on a beauty counter in Debenhams and taught me some tricks. Now I’d rather just watch Youtube and read blogs for help!

Are you clumsy in putting on makeup? Depends how much time I have. I normally take around 15-20 minutes in a morning before work to do my make-up and I’m fine. Anything shorter, I just put on base and mascara. Anything longer, I start to experiment too much and end up taking it off and starting again!

Name a makeup crime you hate: Too dark tan. If you’re naturally dark skinned or tan then fine. If you’re white like Casper the Ghost and I, why would you want to look like an orange Oompa Loompa?!

Do you like colourful shades of makeup or neutral ones? I tend to stick to neutrals mostly. I experiment with pinks/reds on lips.

If you could leave the house with just one makeup product, what would that product be? Concealer.

Could you ever leave the house without makeup on? I often do, like if I’m going to a fitness class or just popping to the supermarket. I don’t think I wear that much make-up in general anyway as I look a bit try-hard when I have too much on!

What do you think of makeup? I love it! I started wearing it when I was about 3/4 for dance shows/competitions and only started wearing it for school when I was about 14. I’ve always taken an interest but thanks to blogging and chatting to various bloggers on Twitter weekly, I’ve found that I’m buying more products that have been recommended and experimenting with colours more!

I tag everyone reading, especially if you’re a beauty blogger; I need recommendations for products!
