With summer well and truly here (this heatwave is kicking my butt), it’s time to do another quarterly wardrobe update. It’s well known that I’m more of an autumn/winter girlie, which means that I need a few new pieces for summer. Here’s what’s on my summer 2026 capsule wardrobe wishlist.
Elasticated waist trousers + shorts
Whilst I’m always looking to elevate my style, one thing I will not compromise on is comfort. The easiest way for me to do this is to only wear bottom-half items with elasticated or drawstring waists. Gone are my days of wearing tight fits, so I’m thrilled that loose-fitting clothing is on trend again! I’m in the market for shorts in particular, but I’m so fussy about the length of them. I’ve got my eye on these unisex Uniqlo pairs in both dark wash denim and black, but I love the shades of pink, grey, khaki and beige in the latter pair, too!
Lace trim vests
Maybe it’s the ‘Off Campus’ effect, but I need some cute, fitted tops or vests. Most of my wardrobe is filled with baggy slogan T-shirts, which I love, but it would be great to have some other options. Whilst I don’t go ‘out out’ anymore, it’s hot out there, and I’d like to keep cool too! I’m trying to shop online a little less, but I do have a trip to Sheffield and Chester coming up. Hopefully, I’ll find some cute tops on my trips, instead of having to make multiple online hauls.
A lightweight sporty jacket
All of my jackets are padded or waterproof, because I love practicality. However, they’re too thick to wear during the summer, plus they’re not exactly ‘cool’ jackets. I love the new polka dot lightweight jackets, I’m just not sure that they’re my style. It’s another ‘try on in store’ item, as I’m not continuously spending a ton of money only to return the item quickly.
White pleather sneakers
These have been on my wishlist for around a year now, and I’m struggling to find the perfect pair. They need to be lightweight with a comfy sole, and made from white p/leather that I can clean easily. I think I’ve found a pair of trusted Hotter trainers, but I’m not 100% sold on them yet. I’ve tried the cool girl trainers with the flat sole, but my plantar fasciitis does not enjoy the pain in my instep!
A skort
This is a newer venture for me, as I live in trousers. However, I bought a black exercise skort from H&M for the Eras Tour two years ago, and it fits really well. I think I’d like to try a different style, and Uniqlo have a bunch on their website. Again, I think I’d prefer to go into a store, so I guess I’ll have to head over to Manchester for a day trip sooner rather than later!
And that’s everything for my summer 2026 capsule wardrobe wishlist. I don’t like to add in too many new pieces every season, because I mostly live in loungewear or my work uniform! However, it would be nice to have some cute outfits to wear during the summer.
