If there’s one thing I know how to do, it’s plan properly. I’m incredibly thorough at planning just about everything so this guide is a long time coming. This is the ultimate guide to planning your life so I’m excited for you to read it.
DAILY
The idea with daily planning is to keep it short, simple and sweet. My daily planning is writing my to-do list the night before, double-checking my Asana for blog/business content and tracking my habits on my app. I also write a gratitude list every morning but other than that, it’s not planning that takes too long.
WEEKLY
My weekly reset and planning routine has become somewhat sacred to me! There’s something that gets me into focus mode on a Sunday by setting up the following week. It also means that I can spend my Sunday evening relaxing too. My weekly planning consists of reviewing and setting my weekly budget, setting up my diary/calendar (both on paper and on Google) and reviewing and setting my mini weekly goals. I also go back on Asana and check off the tasks on my weekly planning and weekly reset tabs. I’ve also been bullet journalling for quite some time and would love to start including it in my Sunday evening wind-down.
MONTHLY
My monthly planning isn’t too dissimilar to my weekly planning, just on a slightly bigger scale. Again, I review my budget from last month and set up next month’s and I review and set my goals too. My weekly planning tends to be a breakdown of my monthly goals/planning so it’s probably the most important bit of planning I do. I set up my Google Calendar for the month too, with important dates, scheduled fun stuff and time-blocking work.
The largest part of my monthly reset routine is my content. It’s easier to plan it out in advance than just choose a post per day. However, I also need to write more content in advance, which is why I’m adding a writing day every week.
ANNUALLY
This is probably my favourite planning to do and I try to stretch it out over a couple of weeks pre- and post-New Year. I’m a sucker for all the content online around that time of year so I spend my time planning my own year whilst watching YouTubers plan theirs too. I spend a few days setting up my bullet journal as I find it relaxing. Mine’s not as elaborate as some but planning is personal and mine works for me.
A task that I spend a lot of time on is setting my annual goals. Firstly, I review the past year and the annual goals I set too. Next, I brain dump some ideas for annual goals. Ideally, I’d sit on them for at least a week. Sometimes, I’ll start goal-setting before Christmas, have time off and then pick it back up just before the New Year. Slowly, I’ll whittle down my goals and reword them to make them achievable but still a stretch.
I also like to sit down and do a rough plan for the year. I’m that person who will sit down with my calendar and diaries and pencil in my plans. Mostly, it’s theatre trips and sporting events but it’s nice to have an idea of what plans I have every month.
WHAT DO I PLAN?
Yes, I’m a planning freak and it’s probably overboard but if I don’t write it down, I will forget it. Here’s a longlist of everything I plan. I will say that I don’t do this every single day or week, sometimes I do forget.
- client work
- blog posts publishing calendar
- blog post writing time
- routines + resets
- travel
- theatre
- sport events
- social plans
- self-care
- meals + workouts
I did say it was the ultimate guide to planning your life so I wanted to be as detailed as I could. I’m happy to split each category in a separate post if you’d want to read that!
