How are we already heading into spring? That means it’s time to start setting up for a new capsule wardrobe. I’ve highlighted twenty items that I have my eye on. That doesn’t mean I’ll add every single one of them, but they’re on my wishlist! I’m also okay with adding pieces not on my list if I simply fall in love with them! Here’s a look at the 20 items on my spring 2026 capsule wardrobe wishlist.
TOPS
Loose-fitting vests in a handful of colours
I have a few fitted vests in various colours, but next, I want to add some with a looser fit. I’d say I do prefer loose-fit clothing over tight fits, but not too baggy. However, I’ve yet to find the right fit for my upper body. Who would’ve thought that finding vests that fit properly would be so tricky? Ideally, I’ll be after ones in black and white, as well as other colours, such as red, pink and blue.
Plain, oversized tees in black + white
I’ve got plenty of T-shirts, but most of them have been worn underneath sweatshirts all autumn/winter long. Now I need a couple of tees to wear on their own. I’ve got my eye on the Uniqlo Airism range, as I already have a men’s T-shirt from the range and it’s very comfy!
An oversized shirt
All of the tops I have tend to be super casual, and it would be nice to have a dressier option, as well as something for interviews. I love oversized shirts on other women, so I want to find my own version. A crisp white shirt would be great, but I tend to find them to be too see-through. Instead, I might go for a light blue or striped version, which is more my style.
A denim shirt
It’s been years since I’ve worn a denim shirt, but they always look so cool. I love that you can wear them open as a jacket when it’s warmer outside, too. However, I’d like it to be thin enough to wear on its own. I’m thinking a mid-wash shade will be best, so it goes with my entire wardrobe.
KNITS
A colourful + beige thin-knit cardigan
So I already own a couple of cardigans (one in black and another in hot pink), but I’d love to add a couple more to my collection. I’m thinking a beige/tan one will go with everything, and maybe a bright red or blue one for a standout colour. A lot of my knitwear and sweatshirts are in neutral shades, so a pop of colour will be a great idea.
Thin-knit jumpers
As above, I could do with a couple more in my collection. I’m very fussy about knitwear because of my sensitive skin and eczema. That’s why I can’t really buy them online, because they tend to be itchy. Again, I’m thinking a tan shade, maybe a dark grey, and one in a bright colour.
BOTTOMS
Elasticated waist trousers in khaki or tan
I’m obsessed with comfort, especially with trousers. I have a few pairs of casual trousers now, but I’d like to add a pair in khaki or tan. I’ve got my eye on a pair from Uniqlo, because I already have them in black. However, I’m open to any style as long as they have an elasticated waist!
A pair of well-fitting jeans
Despite what I said above, I’d like to add a proper pair of jeans to my spring capsule. However, they’re low priority on my list. That’s because I’ve bought a bunch of pairs on Vinted over recent years, and they’re all stored away in a box. I’d like to try them on first before purchasing anything new.
OUTERWEAR
A (p)leather jacket
It’s been a number of years since I owned a (p)leather jacket, even though I used to be obsessed with them. They’re an investment piece as they really don’t go out of style. Sure, the shapes change over the years, but a classic fit lasts for years. However, I refuse to wear proper leather, but I also won’t overpay for fake leather either. A traditional black biker jacket is my preferred shape if I can find one!
A denim jacket
Another item that I’ve not had in years is a denim jacket. Back in the day, I had a biker jacket made from denim, and I wore it to death. However, I’d prefer to go with an oversized mid-wash style now. I might actually scour the men’s sections for the perfect fit.
A khaki bomber or utility jacket
I’ve got a bunch of lightweight bomber jackets, but nothing in khaki. It’s such a spring colour, but some bomber jackets now are on the heavier side. That’s why I’m unsure if I’d rather have a utility jacket instead, as they tend to be more versatile. Again, I had one a few years ago, but I’ve filled out since then!
A trench coat
Can you tell that I’m into classic style right now? A trench coat is the ultimate piece to make any outfit look instantly smarter, and I don’t have one! Once again, I used to have a shorter version, but it never fitted quite right. My main issue is the length, because at 5″3, it can be hard to find one that’s not too long.
FOOTWEAR
Everyday leather trainers in black and/or white
This has been an item on my capsule wardrobe wishlist for ages, yet I’ve still not found the perfect pair. Trainers right now seem to be too flat for my feet, and therefore give me footache when walking around in them. I’ve seen a few nice pairs, but they all have a mesh upper sole. That’s great for the gym, but no use for walking outside in the UK.
Comfy loafers or driving shoes
As long as they’re not too flat, I’d love a pair of loafers or driving shoes. Again, they’re a traditional shoe, but whenever I’ve had them in the past, they’ve been super comfy. I’ll probably stick with the usual tan colour, because they just go with everything.
A pair of tan heeled boots
Oh look, more tanned footwear. I basically need to replace all of my boots, because they’re either dead or don’t fit anymore. However, I have no dressy shoes for press nights at the theatre or for meals out with friends/family. The main thing is still comfort, though, because not having a car means lots of walking!
ACCESSORIES
A leather tote/shoulder bag
I’m building my handbag collection, and need a leather tote bag now. It needs to be big enough to hold a laptop, because that will be the main use. However, the main thing is it must be lightweight. I’ve been using rucksacks to save my back in recent years, but I’d love a posh shoulder bag on occasion.
A new baseball cap (maybe for one of my sports teams)
I don’t buy tonnes of sports merchandise, because it’s so expensive, but I’d love to show my colours in a baseball cap. Last month, I got myself a new beanie of my favourite NRL (rugby league) team, so I could go for Hull FC, Arsenal or Lewis Hamilton merch. I’ll have a look at all their gear and pick a favourite.
A pair of sunglasses
I always go for Aviators or Wayfarers, as they just fit my face best. Usually, I buy them from Primark, because I don’t see the point in paying more than a few quid for them. As long as they have UV protection stickers on them, I’m good to go.
A new FitBit strap
I’ve had a silicone strap since I got mine last Christmas. It’s looking a little bit sad, so I’d like to replace it. I’ve looked at the metal ones, but I don’t know if I’d find them uncomfortable or not. Again, I might look at the options online before buying one.
A handful of new jewellery pieces
Another collection that I’ve been trying to build is my jewellery collection. I used to love it in my teens and early 20s, but stopped wearing it throughout Covid. I’d love to add a few rings and necklaces to what I already have. I tend to go for silver as it’s easier to style.
And that’s the 20 items on my spring 2026 capsule wardrobe wishlist, which I’m excited to start shopping for. Ironically, I’m heading to Manchester for a shopping day tomorrow, so I’ll be looking in all the shops. As well as my usual M&S and Uniqlo visits, I’m going to go to as many shops as I can, because you can find some surprises when you look properly.
