Spring has sprung and life feels a little different lately. March was a troubling month for me, with all three grandparents in hospital at various points in the month. To say it threw me for a loop is an understatement! However, all three are now at home and recovering so that’s a positive! Saying that I’m ready to put March behind me and get on with my 10 goals for April 2022.
MARCH GOALS
No-spend month
I wouldn’t say it was a no-spend month but it was as low-spend a month as it could be. Every quarter, I’ve decided to get dermaplaning and a haircut plus my fortnightly gel nail appointments. Other than that, I only bought a new rucksack and booked a solo day to London in June.
Write 1000 words a day for fun
I didn’t get anywhere near this as I had a topsy-turvy month with client work. Because I’d been writing all day, I really couldn’t be bothered afterwards for myself. I’d like to make it more of a priority so that means organising my days a little better.
Make blogging a priority
Considering I only managed four blog posts in March, three on this blog and one on my new blog, I’d say that was a no. Like I said above, it’s hard when you write for others for a living!
Walk 5000 steps a day
17/30 but I wasn’t far off on another 5 days so most days, I reached it. However, I didn’t leave the house as much as I probably should. See further down for how I’m combatting this in April.
Continue with my 90-day plan
Despite slacking off a little last week, I’ve been on the right track. However, I’ve been taking it a little slowly so want to ramp up now that it’s halfway through. I might do a progress report this week and share it on my blog.
Hit my income goal
Whilst I didn’t reach it exactly, I did have my highest-earning month of business so far. That was despite losing a client from April onwards and two other clients not having much work for me right now. I’m trying to be positive for Q2!
Set up spring capsule wardrobe
DONE! I had a big clearout and rejigged my entire wardrobe. Now I’ve got a capsule wardrobe of 37 items (tops, sweatshirts and bottoms) and I feel great about it. There are a couple of additions to make but I’ll slowly get those pieces.
Upload to eBay
A big fat no. It just seems like a lot of hassle right now when everything is currently listed on Vinted. Maybe another month I’ll upload them but for right now, I have too much to do!
Get ready for my April London trip
I’m not sure exactly what I meant by ‘get ready’ but my accommodation and travel are booked, a couple of shows are booked and I’m setting myself a budget for when I’m there. I’ve bought myself a new rucksack so all I need to do now is plan my outfits!
Organise travel plans for the rest of the year
Whilst I’ve got a few plans pencilled in, I’ve only booked one trip for June. Again, I’ve been researching hotels for my travels but am holding off booking anything until after my London trip.
MARCH RECAP
5 – Number of TV series watched
2 – Number of theatre trips (The Addams Family and Dreamgirls)
3 – Number of blog posts written
2 – Number of empties
2 – Number of books read
940 – Number of pages read
APRIL GOALS
Now let’s move on to my 10 goals for April 2022. You’ll find they’re similar to March’s in some ways but I’ve added some personal ones in there too.
Read for 30 minutes every night
I’m trying to carve out some more time to read before bed, which means 10 pm is my cut-off time for everything else. That gives me 30 minutes before sleepy time to get those pages in!
Write 1 client blog post every weekday (or 5 a week)
Consistency is key so one piece a day is definitely manageable. My main problem in the past has been that I can be motivated one day and get three pieces done but then I’ll go two days without doing a thing. I need more income so I better get to it!
Write 1000 words for ‘fun’ daily
Whilst I love writing for clients, I want to get back to why I started writing in the first place: for fun! Now I technically have 4 websites (one for business, this one, my minimalism blog and my soon-to-come money blog), I need to dedicate some time to each of them. My dream is to hire a ‘blog manager’ where I can just write and someone else can format and schedule them!
Follow Blogilates calendar for the month
So far we’re on day 4 and I’ve only done day 1 (damn bloody cold) so hopefully day 5 will be an improvement. I need to commit to putting my health and fitness first and foremost.
No-spend month
March was a low-spend month and I want to continue that moving into April. I’ve budgeted for a handful of spending but other than that, it’s frugal living!
Stay on budget for London trip
As I said above, I’ve got a budget for the month, which includes my London trip. I don’t want to be overly cautious and not enjoy myself but equally, I don’t want to splurge on unnecessary stuff. I’ll be trying to walk a bit more instead of getting the Tube everywhere, exploring the outdoors instead of shopping for 5 days and buying a bunch of snacks to limit meals out.
Finalise plans for the rest of 2022
I’ve pencilled in a few dates and theatre trips for the rest of the year but I’d like to cement those plans. There are so many places I’d like to explore across the UK but to get anywhere on the train from Hull costs a fortune! The aim is to get to a couple of new places so at least I’ve tried!
Create a schedule for blog content
As I said earlier, I want to start writing for fun again. Creating a schedule should allow that but sometimes, I just give myself too much to do. Aiming for a couple of blog posts a week per blog seems doable, working around press nights for this blog anyway.
Leave the house every weekday
When you work from home, it’s so easier to become a hermit. I should know, I am. However, I know I need to get way more fresh air. A ten-minute walk every day should be more than enough so that’s only a walk around the village. Now to get dressed every day to go for a walk is another matter.
Look after myself better
As you can see, self-care is important to me this month. Sleeping enough, eating healthier, moving my body more and putting myself first all contribute to a better me. Who doesn’t want to live their best life all the time?
And that completes my 10 goals for April 2022 post. I’m excited to start Q2 off strongly and also start prioritising what matters to me more, like myself! Here’s an amazing April! Catch me sharing my life on Twitter and Instagram.
