We’re nearly in the ‘ber months, which really is my time of year. However, before I wish the year away, I want to use August as my trial month. Since I have less stuff going on, I can just enjoy my time and make the most of the nicer weather! Here are my 10 goals for August 2026.
10 GOALS FOR AUGUST 2026
Read 8 books
In August, I really want to prioritise analogue and screen-free time. That means more reading time for me! I’ve got Kindle Unlimited, but I’d love to read some of my unread paperbacks too. Maybe I’ll get rid of KU to read my ever-growing TBR on both my Kindle and bookshelves. 8 books means two per week, which is more than doable. As long as I read on my six trains per week, on my three work dinner breaks, and before bed every night, I’ll easily make my goal.
Post daily to Instagram
This is a challenge that I’ve set for myself in August. I want to resurrect my social media channels, because I’d love to have another income source. As much as I love blogging and writing, I need to be more visible on my Instagram and TikTok. Personally, I’m not a big fan of video content over blogs, but I know that’s the way of the world! My content on socials will be very simple, and hopefully, I can build from there.
Set up business website
This has to get done this month. I’ve moved my domain and hosting again from Squarespace back to WordPress, and want to build a very simple website. I might even start with a one-page website, whilst I slowly add more around it. So far, I’ve found WordPress harder to move things around on the page, and I have very little patience! I’m not a web designer, so I’m trying to use a template instead.
Have a low-spend month
I have very few plans coming up in August, other than a couple of beauty appointments and pre-booking some train tickets/hotels. I’m trying to save as much as I can, as there are big changes coming to my part-time job. I’d also love to side hustle some money, so August is all about spending less and making more.
Have 20 no-spend days
I need to get back in control of my spending, and the best way to do that is with no-spend days. My main issue right now is small amounts during work shifts. I’ll head to Costa or Cooplands during my break, or pop into M&S for snacks after a shift. Whilst I won’t be able to go cold turkey, I’ll allow myself to spend on one work day per week. Ten spare days in the month to spend seems reasonable to me!
Start/continue Project 50
I’ve tried numerous times to try some kind of well-being challenge, but this time, I need it to stick. I’ve got very few plans over the next 50 days, meaning that’s plenty of time to focus on my health. However, I’m not pressuring myself into a 75 Hard type of challenge. My main aims are to move my body more, eat more full meals with less snacking, and focus on my morning and evening routines. I won’t be starting over if I miss one habit, though. I’ll just take a note of it and try better the next day.
Workout or walk every day
One of the main reasons I want to do Project 50 is because I want to be physically fitter. My energy levels are in the toilet, despite getting plenty of sleep most nights. I usually get plenty of steps in on work days, but on my days off, I sit on the sofa or at my desk all day long, before sitting in bed all evening. On my days off, I want to get in a workout. Whether it’s an online dance class, a HIIT workout, or lifting dumbbells, I just need to get off my backside and get fit and strong again!
Continue weekly planning routine
Over the last few weeks or so, I’ve been spending my Sunday nights at my desk. Whilst catching up on YouTube, I’ve been planning my weeks out in my planners with both a daily and weekly diary. I’ve also got a yearly collections journal as well as a theatre and junk journal. I’d love to spend a couple of hours planning out my week as well as doing some of my personal curriculum work too.
Declutter autumn/winter clothes
One thing I managed to do during my week’s holiday from work was to take out all of my autumn/winter clothes and put them into storage bags. However, I didn’t declutter them. I simply folded them up and got them out of sight. Now it means there’s more hanging space in my wardrobes. With three storage bags to go through, I want to use three days to go through a bag a day and see what I like and don’t like anymore.
Use a face mask weekly
This is going to be my Sunday night treat to myself when I want to fully relax before the new week. It’ll be my sign to switch off for the evening and have an early night. I’ve got a bunch of L’Oreal ones that I bought on offer, and they need to stay on for 90 minutes! When you’re wearing one, you can barely do anything, so I’ll just have to read in bed!
And that’s a wrap for my 10 goals for August 2026. I’m excited to start a new month and see what small changes I can make. With fewer plans, it should mean that I have more free time and can spend less too!
