Usually, I do a monthly review blog post before writing about the next month’s goals. However, June was the least exciting month I’ve had in forever. All I did was relax, watch Off Campus on repeat, read a lot and get some new glasses. I’m hoping that July isn’t too exciting either, as I’m in my budgeting era. Here are my 10 goals for July 2026.
JULY PLANS
- An overnight stay in Sheffield
- Super League’s Magic Weekend (I’m not going, but my dad and I spend the weekend watching it at home together)
- Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup Final: England v Australia
- Spending a couple of nights in Chester with my parents AKA a shopping trip
- A day trip to Bradford for my first stop on the Jersey Boys UK tour
10 GOALS FOR JULY 2026
Now that June is done, let’s jump right in with my 10 goals for July 2026!
Read 6 books
I’m still really into reading, and I’ve been reading a tonne on my commutes and work breaks. I don’t always read before bed, especially if I’ve been at work. However, I’d like to get back into that habit in July.
Stick to blog content plan
As I don’t have many plans this month, I want to get back into a proper routine with my blog. That means writing up posts in advance when I can, and using the nights when I’ve been at work to write. It means I can use my days off for job searching, business stuff or being lazy. It’s not like I have much else going on, so whilst I’m on my Grey’s Anatomy rewatch, I can get writing some blog posts!
Start posting to Instagram again
Whilst I’d love to make money being an influencer, I don’t love relying on social media for content. I’m a reader myself and enjoy writing, which is why I have a blog in the first place. However, if I ever want to grow my ‘brand’, I need to be more visible on social media.
Declutter the spare bedroom finally
This needs to get done this month. If I ever want my own place, I need less stuff to move. The spare room is also my office, so it is full to the brim with stationery, books, and general tat mostly. If I can get rid of the stuff that I don’t need anymore first, then I can reorganise everything else! Seeing some of the floor would be a vast improvement!
Work on a fitness routine
I need to start focusing on looking after myself a little better. I’ve had so much back pain lately, so after a visit to the doctor, I realised that I need to start working out again, lifting weights, stretching and doing a bit more cardio. I’ve signed up for an annual pass to Steezy, a dance class platform, so I’m excited to try some classes in a tonne of different dance styles. I need to dust off my dumbbells to get some upper body toning in, as well as stretching a little more. Whilst I doubt I’ll get in the splits, I need more mobility in my back and hips for sure.
Get back in the kitchen
Sounds like something that a Neanderthal man would say, doesn’t it? In my case, I want to get back into cooking healthier meals, as well as baking once or twice this month. That means cooking extra portions of meals the night before a work shift, relying less on takeaways, and planning my food shops a little better. It’s too hot to spend hours in the kitchen at this time of year, but if I meal prep properly, I’ll only have to cook two to three meals per week!
Stick to pre-planned budget
I’ve been a bit of a high spender in recent months, but with only a few plans over the summer, I’m hoping to save more than usual. Other than the six days out of town that I have planned, I’d love to have most work days as no-spend days. That means taking a large packed lunch, lots of snacks and extra drinks. There isn’t anything I really need! I’ve budgeted £581 for all of my non-essential expenses, but that does cover work trains/buses, too. My Chester trip will be funded by a sinking fund, but I’m hoping I don’t spend all £300 of it!
Get back into bullet journalling + paper planning
I’m sick of spending so much time on my laptop, and need some screen-free time in July. One of my hobbies has always been journalling and planning, which I’ve let slide in 2026. It’s always a relaxing activity, and I’d love to spend my Sunday evenings at my desk, catching up with it whilst watching YouTube videos. Give me all the colourful stationery and paper planners!
Utilise days off much better
Right now, I’m working three days a week at the Post Office. Usually, there’s plenty of overtime during the summer, but none of us at my workplace have kids, which means just working my contracted hours. Of course, that could change, but for now, that means I have four days a week to myself. Whilst I don’t plan on working every single day of the week, it would be great to dedicate at least one day a week to my blog as well as an additional day for my freelance business. That would still leave me two days a week to relax on! I know it won’t work like that every single week, with plans and such, but it’s an aim.
A low-spend month (other than trips)
I’m writing this post on the way back from Sheffield, and a visit to Meadowhall is my kryptonite. Despite it not being as good as it used to be, I still manage to spend more than I had planned there. Now that I’m back, I don’t want to do any unnecessary spending if I can help it. My Chester trip will be funded by a savings pot, so I probably won’t include those in my monthly expenses. However, I don’t want to spend any more money on clothing, beauty products, or stationery!
And that’s a wrap on my 10 goals for July 2026, and I’m excited to have a bit of a mid-year reset. 2026 hasn’t shaped up in the way that I wanted it to, but there are still six months left to make changes and live life to the fullest!
