I know we’re already well into the month but I’m a little behind on content, especially if you read my Q3 in review. There’s been a lot going on so I’m hoping everything will go back to normal soon. Here’s a look a my 10 goals for October 2024.
Get back into Sunday resets (and all routines, really)
If there’s anything that I’ve fallen off with during the summer, it’s my routines. Maybe it’s because I’ve had a lot going on personally. Maybe it’s just because summer feels more ‘go with the flow’. September time might not be back-to-school time for me anymore but it still feels like a good time to reset. Now autumn is fully here, it’s now October and it’s also Q3, I need to get back on track with everything.
That means going back to my Sunday reset routine (but being flexible so sometimes doing it on a Friday or Saturday) amongst other routines. My morning routine is a hot mess right now, which doesn’t set me up to have a great day either! October is all about resetting for me!
Read 6 books
As I said in my Q3 review yesterday, I’ve really been on my reading game lately. However, over the past couple of days, I think I might have some readers’ burnout. That’s why I’m just aiming to read six books in October so at least I’ve read something. One and a half books per week is definitely manageable, as long as I read before bed and during my breaks.
Work out of the house at least twice
This is another goal that’s fallen by the wayside lately. I used to work out of the house regularly but I’ve had a fair bit of travel and then couldn’t get back into a routine of working from a coffee shop. That’s why I’m aiming for just twice in October. Once a fortnight again seems doable because I tend to have a high spend day when I work from town. I’ll treat myself to lunch out, maybe wander around the shops, top up my toiletry collection, and buy myself a new book (or a few). That’s why I’m limiting myself to just two trips!
Meal prep twice a week
Another routine that I’ve fallen out of is meal planning and prepping as well as just healthy eating in general. I’ve often skipped dinner/lunch and just had a meal at teatime instead. That’s definitely not healthy. Prior to that at the start of summer, I’d gotten into a routine of cooking a very large meal on a Sunday night and having enough to last me for Monday/Tuesday. Then I’d cook again on Wednesday with leftovers for Thursday/Friday.
Aim for 5k steps a day
This doesn’t seem like a lot and I know that 10k is a better goal. However, most days, I don’t even leave the house! Aiming for 5k steps a day means I’ll at least try to move more than I have been doing. I can often do this just around the house but I’d also love to just get out of the house more.
Use my standing desk twice a week
I bought it to stand at so I might as well do just that! In fairness, I’ve barely even sat at my desk in the last month or so and instead, have either sat on the sofa or occasionally at the dining table. It’s taken a bit of adjusting to but you do get used to standing and typing. I’d say I don’t do the work that requires the most focus but it’s great for admin and extra business tasks.
Have a low-spend month
Again, my finances have gotten a little out of control during the summer and September. Autumn is the best time to rein that in. I’ve looked at my plans for October, November and December and budgeted for those plans. I have a few day trips out of town as well as one overnight stay. Other than that, it’s my usual monthly spending. I’m planning on going to London for my birthday in January so I want to save up for that instead.
Have a dedicated business day every week
This is for blog posts, social media, and admin/accounts. Hopefully, if I can get some pre-planning done, it can be half a day every week. However, I’m giving myself a full day early on to get back into another routine. I’ve barely posted on my social media (business or blog) in 2024 and it’s definitely affecting a lot of things. I’ve no idea how much I’ll post but it should be more than recently!
Update CBS services page
Leading on from my own marketing, my own website is a mess for my business. I attempted to update it a while ago and made a right mess of it. The main page to focus on is my services page. Even if the rest of it is a mess, potential clients will still know about my various content/blog packages and be able to contact me. First of all, I need to make a plan!
Stick to pre-planned blog content
This is another goal that requires planning. However, I’ve mostly done this for October. It’ll have to change slightly as I’m about a week behind. That’s okay though as most posts don’t have a definite deadline. In fact, many can be moved around, apart from theatre reviews!
Hopefully, for November, I’ll be able to review these 10 goals for October 2024 and add my usual stat pack back in. October looks set to be another mixed bag, with my grandad’s funeral. However, I’ve tried to make some fun plans around it so I don’t feel too sad all the time.
