Now the end is near and so I face the final curtain. Just a bit of Sinatra there to start off my annual review! 2022 was a trying year to say the least and not my finest. This 22 goals for 2022 review will definitely reflect that! Let’s jump straight in, shall we?
MONEY
Save £10k
Let’s start off with a massive fail! I didn’t even save 10% of this, due to having a rollercoaster year in my business. It can’t get much worse than this so 2023 is going to be my year!
Diversify income
Another no. Whilst I did gain more clients, I did a lot less side hustling than last year and that’s reflected in my income. Another goal to move over to a new year.
22 in 2022 clothes items
I’m not sure why I ever thought I could restrict my spending quite this much. I think I’m at 87 purchases for the year, with most of them brand-new items. It’s something I want to work on in 2023 but rather than set myself a goal, just be pickier with new clothes!
BLOG
Finish eBook
Oh look, another no-go. I decided to prioritise client work and this blog during the year because that’s where I wanted to focus my efforts. I might have a rethink about what I want to do with my eBook in 2023!
Keep updating old posts
I’m pretty sure I updated a handful of them but didn’t commit to it. I need to sit down, make a list and decide how many to update a month.
Work on each blog once a week
With my blogs, I went through so many peaks and troughs. I’ve not been super consistent but I have been posting more than I have done previously. With my two other blogs, I posted a bit on one and nothing on the other.
BUSINESS
Do 21/22 tax return early
It’s due on 31st January 2023 and I’ve still not paid it. It shall be paid at the last minute because January 2023 is all about my 30th birthday.
Track my time daily on Toggl
This is another goal that I fell in and out of. I started off strongly and used it every time I got a new client. However, it’s another commitment I’m transferring to 2023 because I want to work out how much time/income I get from each client.
Work in a coffee shop once a fortnight
Whilst I didn’t do this every week, I did try to get this done monthly. There’s something refreshing about a change of scenery to remotivate yourself. I do get self-conscious when working out of the house (it’s older people who tend to be the rudest) but it’s something I’m working on.
HEALTH + WELLBEING
Focus on my health more
Whilst I don’t think I did much of this, I did notice certain things more. I have changed my diet quite a bit, eating more vegetables, trying new recipes, and noticing certain food triggers. Again, it’s always going to be a work in progress!
Journal + habit tracker app daily
Another one where I went through phases where I journaled daily and updated my habit tracker app. Then I’d stop for a while, pick it back up and start the cycle again.
Use up 50 empties
I think I’m at about 30 for the year, which isn’t too bad. One area I slacked off in was skincare this year so it’s a habit I want to focus on in 2023.
Take a trip every month (at least for one day)
Result! I got out of Hull twelve times in 2022, sometimes for a couple of days, others just for the day. In 2023, I’d like to travel to a few new places if I can.
ORGANISATION
Cement morning + evening routines
I’ve always been big on routines but I’ve also come to appreciate that you don’t always have the same amount of time. Recently, I took a workshop from Thalia and she recommends setting up a menu. From this, I listed all of the tasks I’d love to do in a full morning routine but now I just pick a couple a day. I have some non-negotiables in both (a glass of water and stretching in the morning, reading in the evening) but now I feel more motivated.
Keep up to date with weekly/monthly reviews
Why is it that I start off the year super strong and dedicated and then we get to spring and I give up? 2023 is all about routines for me so I’ve decided to incorporate reviews into my Sunday and monthly resets.
Create four capsule wardrobes
Hooray, something was completed! I did only do three capsules in 2022 because I extended my autumn wardrobe through to the end of the year. I’m setting up my winter 2023 wardrobe right now, which will run from January to March.
PERSONAL
Read all seven Harry Potter books again
As you’ll see, 2022 wasn’t my best year for reading. I don’t think I even picked up a physical book, everything was on my Kindle.
Go through my musicals DVD collection
Another one that fell by the wayside. 2022 was the year of the TV box set for me, rather than films. However, I did have a High School Musical day and watched a handful of other musicals too.
Read 80 books
I changed my goal multiple times and have read 25 for the year. I’ve not read that little since about 2019! 2023 is the year I become a book girly once again so let’s connect on Goodreads!
Work on taking small, sustainable steps
I’m unsure of how I thought this could be measurable but I think I’ve made progress. I’ve used reusable cotton pads daily, carried around my reusable water bottle and travel mug consistently, and reduced my meat intake. Quorn pieces are a lifesaver for me!
Continue with Duolingo (French)
Yes, a completed goal! I’ve completed at least one lesson a day in 2022. This is a goal I’m sticking with in 2023 but I’d like to track my progress more.
See 30 shows
I managed to see 24 shows but haven’t seen anything since late October, thanks to train strikes in the UK and this cold/flu thing going around too. I’ve upped my goal significantly for 2023 because I want to make more time for travel.
And that’s a wrap on my 22 goals for 2022 review. I love reviewing the year usually but when you only complete three out of 22, it can be a bit disheartening. 2023 is going to be a big year for me because I’m determined to make it a success!
If you enjoyed my 22 goals for 2022 review, my 23 goals for 2023 will be coming in the next couple of days. Follow me on Twitter and Instagram to see how I get along with my goals on a regular basis. I’ll still be uploading my 10 monthly goals every month too!
