Happy New Year everyone! I’m ready for all the New Year, New Me content so today is when it all begins. What better place to start than with my 25 goals for 2025?
BLOG
Write 365 blog posts in 365 days
This is a huge goal but 2025 is the year that I take my blogs to a whole other level. I’ve been saying for years that I need to dedicate more time to it. This goal counts across my three blogs. This one will be the main one, with three posts per week with two on each of my others. I’m not including my business blog as that’s a separate entity.
Have a content batching session every week
In order to keep on track, I want to block out one day every week. Ideally, it will be a weekday and preferably a Wednesday. It’ll break up the week nicely! However, if I’m away on a theatre day trip, I’ll use the Friday instead. If all else fails, Sunday it is!
BUSINESS
Try a co-working space
Because I have a big income goal this year (keeping that personal), I want to invest in a space outside of my house to work. Don’t get me wrong, I love a coffee shop but I sometimes miss the hubbub of office working. I love working from home but it’s turned me into a hermit and a recluse. There are a few options in Hull so I want to view them all and make a pro/con list.
Have a content batching session every month
Similar to that of my blog, taking time every month to plan out my blog posts and social media content helps keep it all flowing smoothly. I did this in the early days of my business but haven’t over the past year or so. I’ll try to use the last day of every month to plan next month’s content and then every Monday morning to double-check that week’s content.
Maximise capacity of clients
Capacity is such a personal thing to every freelancer, depending on lifestyle, seasons and just about everything else. At certain times of the year, I have more availability than others, such as the summer. However, I like to take more time off around Christmas and usually take a few days off around my birthday in January. I also have a busy May going out of town for theatre trips so planning my business around my life should help!
Go on a solo business retreat
Now I don’t mean one where you pay like £3k for a weekend away. Ideally, I want to stay in a flat for a few days mid-year to plan the next six months. I’ll do the first six months at home and hopefully, save enough to do the mid-year one away somewhere. It won’t be anywhere fancy but somewhere I love in the UK (maybe Manchester, Chester or somewhere I’ve never been before). I don’t want it to be somewhere too interesting or I’ll spend all my time exploring, rather than working on my business.
FINANCIAL
Set up a monthly savings routine
Rather than setting myself a specific yearly savings goal, I’m instead focusing on smaller goals. One of those is setting up a routine that I follow every month. From paying into various savings pots and accounts to Fiver Fridays, I want to save smaller amounts more regularly.
Pay off all credit cards
This is a big aim for me as I’ve spent too much on credit in 2024. I’d love to pay off both of my cards as well as my Sparks Pay account and use it a little more cautiously. I pay a direct debit every month but I’d love to overpay!
Buy a car
This is dependent on another goal further down. Where we currently live, I miss having a car to just drive around. Planning your day around buses is a ballache! If I do get a car, it won’t be anything new or flashy. A car is something that gets you from A to B, nothing more!
HEALTH + WELLNESS
Stick to a beauty appointment schedule
This might seem like a very random goal. Since turning 30, I’ve been taking my health and wellness much more seriously. Part of that is beauty. From a regular skincare routine to drinking plenty of water, keeping up with my appointments is crucial. I’m talking gel nails, dermaplaning/facials, haircuts and massage. I’d love to add in a head spa treatment every so often too.
Try 75 Soft before attempting 75 Hard
I’ve tried and failed about three times with this but I want to start my year off focusing on consistency. The idea is to complete my own version of 75 Soft, build up a regular workout routine (that’s the hardest part for me) and then go big on 75 Hard. I’m not as strict when it comes to rules but I need to push myself physically!
Join a gym
So if I complete the challenges and hopefully have a car, I’d like to rejoin a gym. I’ve no idea which one as I’ve been to just about every single one in Hull. I don’t live near one, which is why I really need a car before even thinking about this goal.
Try a new recipe every month
I really found my love of cooking in 2024, trying more new foods and recipes than ever before. I’m someone who only really likes cooking for myself though so I always have leftovers! If you know me, you’ll know I mostly cook Asian-inspired dishes so I’d love to expand my recipe repertoire!
Make some friends
This is a very vague goal but whilst I’m not lonely, I also don’t really hang out with other people very much. Again, it would be great to have a car to get around. I guess the main issue is that not having a car makes evening plans difficult. That means I need to make freelancer friends for daytime plans or beg for a lift home at night!
PERSONAL
Read 80 books
I managed over 52 books in 2024 so the next step is for more than one a week. I’ve previously read 120 in one year but I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself. 80 seems manageable if I have some more focused reading time.
Stick to quarterly capsule wardrobes
Capsule wardrobes are always a work in progress but I want to be a little stricter with it. By this, I mean tracking my outfits on the Stylebook app, choosing fewer items every season and being more cautious about adding new pieces. I’ve been doing capsules probably since Covid but you can always switch it up.
Restrict myself to buying only 25 new clothes items
As I said above, I want to be more thoughtful about the new items I bring into my wardrobe. I’m restricting myself to adding just 25 new items but will allow myself to not count any second-hand items, either from charity shops or Vinted. I’ll still be mindful that I absolutely adore each piece though.
Go on a book-buying ban
I’m not sure how long this will last but I doubt it will last for the entire year. It’s always hard when new books get released. Maybe I’ll only buy books at the end of every month? I could treat myself to a maximum number of Kindle books or have a small haul at The Works. I plan on visiting the library every month too!
Have a solo date day every month
I might be a hermit but I do enjoy leaving the house sometimes. My idea of a date day is a theatre trip out of town or a visit to the cinema. It doesn’t always have to be a spending spree, just some time out of the house and off my laptop is the main reason! Perhaps I’ll try something new!
Bake every month
I used to love baking but haven’t done so in such a long time. I’ve always been a Jane’s Patisserie recipe user and she’s never done me wrong! I tend to bake brownies or cookies but I’d love to try something else.
Watch 52 musical films
This seems a random goal to have but I’ve got a very large collection of musical DVDs that need watching! In an ideal world, I’ll watch one every Sunday night but I might have to play catch-up some weeks. My plan of action is to watch alphabetically because I can’t be bothered to think of another system! I’ll go through my DVDs first and then onto Netflix/Disney+.
Get out of Hull every month
I love my hometown but I get bored easily here. By getting out of town, I can go and do more stuff. Let’s face it, most of these day trips will be to the theatre but we occasionally go shopping out of town too. I feel like I’ve explored every single place in Hull and need something new.
Try a new eatery every month
This could tie in with getting out of town but equally, there are a handful of Hull eateries that I’m yet to try. I mostly like to try cafes because I’m usually out and about during the day. We’re talking cheap eats here by the way, so toasties and paninis are more my bag.
Do a Project Pan year with toiletries/make-up
I’d go as far as saying this is one of my top 3 goals on my 25 goals for 2025 list. After paring down my toiletry collection during Covid, I’ve slowly grown my collection. So much so that I bought a set of four plastic drawers to store everything in. That’s not including the ones that are currently out and being used. The rule is to use what you have before buying something new. It also has to be a replacement for that item, not a random item.
Move out of my parent’s house
This will be an annual goal until it happens. A stable income will mean I can finally achieve this. I’m manifesting all of my eggs in this basket for 2025!
That’s all 25 goals for 2025 in one post. It might seem like a lot but lots of these are what I consider fun goals. I also love to have things to work towards. Do I ever achieve all of them? No. Does it give me something to work towards? Absolutely.
