Crikey, how are we nearly in May already? This year is flying by and I feel like I’ve accomplished nothing! With that being said, here’s my short and sweet April 2024 in review.
The job hunt part 2
Not a tonne of progress has been made since last month on the job front. I’ve been on four interviews this week alone (with one more to come) and hopefully will be hearing back soon from them. I’m not sure I’ve found my perfect role just yet as ideally, I’m looking for something with a lot of writing/content marketing and a bit of other marketing tasks. Most marketing jobs seem to be very social media-focused, which I can do but it’s not my forte.
Matthew Bourne’s Edward Scissorhands press night
If there’s one type of dance production that I’m guaranteed to enjoy, it’s a Matthew Bourne ballet. They’re anything but traditional, which I love, but there’s always a hint of classical ballet in there, with the orchestral music. Edward Scissorhands is a phenomenal production, from the dancers to the staging. It’s a very big budget for a touring show!
Plugging along
I know it’s technically spring but does anyone else not feel quite springy yet? The weather looks to improving so I’m hoping that improves my mood slightly. I feel like I’m just going through the motions with work and life right now but I need that to change! May will be a month of change, it has to be!
Seeing Challengers at the cinema
I hadn’t used my Odeon Limitless pass all month until the very last day of April. Today, I went to see Challengers and it was quite an odd film. The three leads obviously gave amazing performances but I thought the script was a bit weak and I wasn’t overly keen on the way the film was cut. I like chronology and it was jumping back and forth too much for me. The music was also too loud over some of the dialogue. Maybe I’m just not into ‘new cinema’.
The Tortured Poets Department
I’ll precede this by saying that I’ve been a Swiftie since I first heard Love Story on UK radio (and then went to HMV to buy her debut album). However, TTPD isn’t my favourite album. I’ve listened to it around five times now and whilst some songs stand out, many sound the same. It sounds daft but it’s almost too wordy and there are too many songs.
And that’s a wrap on my April 2024 in review. It wasn’t the most groundbreaking month but it happened nonetheless. I hope May is a bit more exciting and that I have more of my shit together.
