I know we’re halfway through the next month, but I enjoy sharing these posts. My August media wasn’t as varied as it might have been in the past, but I like what I like! Here’s my August 2026 media wrap-up, featuring books, TV shows and music I’ve been loving.
BOOKS
I’m still on my sports romance kick, so I managed to get through six of them in August. I finished off Lauren Asher’s Dirty Air series, only for it to be announced now that it’s being made into a TV show! I’ll have to reread it closer to the time, because I finally found an F1 romance that was actually good!
I read two rugby union romances, one amazing and one less so. However, I want more rugby league romances instead!
After that, I finally got round to reading Love Song by Elle Kennedy, but it wasn’t my favourite of hers. Whilst I enjoyed the storyline, it didn’t exactly grip me, and it had one of my least favourite tropes (unexpected pregnancy) too.
Next, I had to read something non-fiction, and since I’m doing a massive reset and declutter in the lead-up to Christmas, I finally read Courtney Carver’s Project 333. It had some useful information, but I do agree with lots of the reviews: it could’ve been an evergreen blog post instead of a book.
I finished out the month by reading Chelsea Curto’s Cross Check, the sixth book in the DC Stars series. This book has been pushed back multiple times for reasons unknown, yet it still wasn’t perfect. Other than the fact that it’s littered with spelling mistakes, it’s about 500 pages too long. I’m just not sure the leads were the perfect couple either; I liked them both separately, just not together. I know opposites are meant to attract, but certainly not in this case. I hope book seven is an improvement, because I’ve enjoyed the series so far before this one!
Books read in August 2026:
- Collided – Lauren Asher
- Wicked – Lauren Asher
- Redeemed – Lauren Asher
- Blindsided by You – Caroline Corvin
- Hooked on You – Lina Francis
- Love Song – Elle Kennedy
- Project 333 – Courtney Carver
- Cross Check – Chelsea Curto
TV SHOWS
I feel like I didn’t get through a lot of TV in August, mostly because I spent every night one week watching the European Athletics Championships. We’re also back into the football season, as well as rugby league’s season winding down, so I really only watch box sets Monday to Wednesday.
I finished watching Law and Order SVU season 3, but wanted to watch something more lightweight afterwards. That’s why I went to Dance Moms, because it’s iconic but easy to watch. I’ve had it on in the background on my days off work, but now I’ve found myself quoting lines from the show on a daily basis. I need more people in my life who get it, though!
I also managed to get through the third season of Grey’s Anatomy, which is one of the best seasons. It ends with Cristina’s non-wedding to Burke, and it’s an incredible ending to see her relief. I’m having a break from the show, though, as I’ve started rewatching something else, but I’ll be back in a couple of months. I find it hard to watch too many seasons in a row because I don’t give it my full focus, so it’s like I skip a few episodes in my brain!
TV shows watched in August 2026:
- Grey’s Anatomy season 3
- Dance Moms seasons 1-2
- Law and Order SVU season 3
- European Athletics Championships
- The start of the Premier League season – Arsenal matches only!
MUSIC
It’s been a month of new country music releases, including Dan + Shay, Little Big Town and Carly Pearce. I’ve had Carly’s record on repeat more than the others, and it’s a good one. I’m not sure it’ll beat 29 as my all-time favourite, but it’s a really great album.
Other than that, I’m slowly getting through my Glee Cast playlist and am nearing the end. I can guarantee that they will be my top-played artist in my Spotify Wrapped in December. As much as the last two seasons are a little naff in terms of storylines and episodes, some of the covers are amazing. Let’s face it, most of the covers on the show are better than the originals. Yes, I went there.
Music listened to in August 2026:
- Honest Woman – Carly Pearce
- Young – Dan + Shay
- It’s a Dying Art – Little Big Town
- Glee cast playlist still
And that’s everything for my August 2026 media wrap-up. I’ve had less free time than usual, so it feels like I’ve barely gone through anything. However, I’ve been trying to prioritise reading instead of telly, which is working out wonders!
