February has brought some big changes to my life but equally, I’ve not been very good at balancing those changes with everything else in my life. Here’s a closer look at my February 2025 in review.
STACKING UP BEAUTY APPOINTMENTS
In February alone, I’ve been for my usual nail appointments every 3 weeks as well as a head spa and dermaplaning. The head spa was a good experience but since then, my scalp has been pretty itchy and my eczema has flared up. I doubt I’ll be doing that again! I went back to my usual dermaplaning lady and she always does such an amazing job. She’s super knowledgeable and understands my skin concerns. Also, she never tries to sell me a treatment just to make more money.
STARTING A NEW FREELANCE ROLE
I’ve been working in content marketing for so long now but I’m actually venturing into the world of journalism. I’m a fully qualified sports journalist with an MA in Sports Journalism as well as passing my NCTJ qualification. However, this is the first time I’ll have worked in the industry, other than a few voluntary roles. I’ve joined the Serious About Rugby League team and will be working as a freelancer for them three days a week. Currently, I’m in my third week with the team. Whilst it’s hard work writing so much every day, it’s been fun so far! You can read all of my articles here too!
A NIGHT AT THE BALLET
My first press night of the year was to see the Varna International Ballet’s version of Romeo and Juliet. It’s a ballet that I’ve never seen before and only know the Shakespeare play loosely. However, I have seen this company before so I know their quality. I wouldn’t say it’s the best ballet I’ve ever seen but it was enjoyable nonetheless.
MY MANCHESTER TRIP
Last Sunday, I headed to Manchester for a couple of days. The main reason was for Carly Pearce’s concert on Monday night at the Albert Hall. Wow, what a gig. Carly had the flu and was still 50% better than most live vocals I’ve heard! I hope to see her again someday in full voice because she was fantastic. I’d been saving up a bit of money to do some clothes shopping when I got there. Hull is no good for that!
TRAVEL PLANNING FOR 2025
With starting a new freelance role, I’ve been able to plan out some more theatre trips, especially over the next few months. I’d been holding off in case I got a full-time role. Now I’m sorted for a while, I wanted to get some stuff booked in. I’ve got my theatre trips booked in until the end of May as well as my train tickets for those trips. I’m excited to get back to my favourite hobby!
GETTING BACK TO THE LIBRARY
I’ve really let my reading time slide in 2025 so far as I’ve just not felt motivated enough to read. It doesn’t help that I’ve got addicted to my phone again so instead of reading before bed, I’ve been scrolling on TikTok. To find some inspiration, I headed back to my local library and picked up seven books to read over the next couple of weeks. It doesn’t have the widest selection of newer books but they do have some good picks.
BALANCING CLIENTS, BLOG AND LIFE
I’ll admit that I’ve let just about every aspect of my life fall by the wayside in February. Since starting my new job, my brain has been fried so all I want to do on my four days off is sleep and catch up on telly. However, maybe it’s a sign that I’ve not been organised enough because three days a week of freelancing isn’t as stressful as a full-time job! I’ll be taking the opportunity in March to organise my calendar a little better and try to balance my other client work, blogging and chill time a little better.
And that’s everything for my February 2025 in review. It’s been a good month for me but I’ve not achieved as much as I’d planned. I’m happy with my new freelance role but want to organise my weeks better. Now I just need to focus on balancing it all!
