I think summer is officially over! This gloomy weather already has me feeling ready for cosy, autumnal vibes. Hopefully, the August weather will improve slightly, even to just jacket weather! With that being said, I originally thought July was a rubbish month. Then I sat down and reflected, it wasn’t so bad. I didn;t have tonnes of plans but I did some fun stuff. Here’s my July 2023 in review.
ERAS TOUR TICKETS
I managed to grab tickets for my friend Rachel and me for one of the August dates of the Eras Tour at Wembley. I was hoping to grab some for a June date but it was like a bloodbath. Now the real challenge begins as I now have to book a hotel! I’ve been checking the Premier Inn website daily. If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know that I’m a massive Swiftie and have been since the very beginning. The Eras Tour will be epic, I just know it”
SPEAK NOW (TAYLOR’S VERSION)
I’ve listened to Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) so much that I genuinely thought it had been released in June. I just had to go and check it on Google! You can read my reviews part 1 and part 2 because it was definitely a trip down memory lane. It’s probably my second favourite re-recording behind Fearless but better than Red for me. It’s got some of my favourite songs on there (Enchanted, Innocent, Haunted, Last Kiss) but I Can See You is easily the best Vault track!
BARBIE
Okay so growing up, I was never really a Barbie girl. I’m sure I had some but I was more of a Polly Pocket/Betty Spaghetti girlie. However, the movie moved me. I was expecting it to be mostly silly but it was actualy really profound in places. I won’t add any spoilers but America Ferrera’s speech on being a woman nearly had me standing up with my hand on my heart. Amen!
WOMEN’S WORLD CUP
My producitivty levels have been greatley affected by the Women’s World Cup but I’m fine with it. To begin with, I was writing for my blog in the morning during the matches before working on client stuff in the afternoon in my home office. However, I’m now playing catch up because of the sheer amount of games. Instead, I’m sat on the sofa all day long watching previous games and attempting to do client work at the same time. My own blog stuff can wait until nighttime.
TWO THEATRE PRESS NIGHTS
Theatre trips out of Hull have been put on the backburner in 2023 because travel in the UK is just so expensive/unreliable right now. That means that it’s mostly press nights in Hull and July gave us two. First up was The Bodyguard, which was good but not a favourite. As always, the cast were incredible, it was just the story that was severly lacking for me. Last week, I saw Matthew Bourne’s Romeo & Juliet and that was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. In fairness, Bourne can do no wrong in my eyes but this was spectacular from start to finish.
And that’s a wrap on my July 2023 in review. These posts tend to be short and sweet but my life is really not that interesting. Most days, I do my work and watch TV, that’s about it! I’m not a social butterfly and I’m such a homebody too. I’m aware that I probably spend too much time at home though!
Looking forward to August, I basically have zero plans. I’m on holiday in September so August is my month to focus. I will be working lots, working out more, and watching as much sport as humanly possible. Judging by the weather, I won’t be getting outside much! I plan to work in a coffee shop at least once a fortnight for a change of scenery though. I need to set my goals for the month first though.
