July was one of those months when I didn’t have that many plans, and it allowed me some time to finally relax. However, I did take a couple of trips out of town and tried to get off my laptop during those trips! Here’s a look back at my July 2026 in review.
AN OVERNIGHT TRIP TO SHEFFIELD
I planned this trip due to a rescheduling previously, and saw Summer Holiday at The Crucible. I’ve chosen not to review it, as it just wasn’t my cup of tea. During my trip, I spent some time in Meadowhall and spent the evening watching England win their semi-final in the T20 Cricket World Cup. Yes, there have been other sports on, other than the men’s football. The downside to this trip was that I spent far more money than planned (nearly £250 total) and I’m not entirely sure what I have to show for it all!
RUGBY LEAGUE’S MAGIC WEEKEND
Once I got back from Sheffield, it was time for the annual Magic Weekend viewing. My dad and I spent two days on the sofa watching rugby league and binge-eating. Both of us were very good and didn’t snack as much as we usually do, but we did have Chinese food for tea on both nights. My team, Hull FC, didn’t win, but most of the games were fairly entertaining. It’s always nice to just turn my brain off for the weekend.
A WEEK-LONG HOLIDAY
I had eight days off work starting from my Sheffield trip. However, that meant I had four full days at home. It was so nice to just relax and do nothing. I did some tidying and decluttering, I watched a tonne of SVU episodes, and I did plenty of content planning. I’d planned on doing so much more, but sometimes, it’s nice to do nothing!
THREE DAYS IN CHESTER
Following my holiday, I did one shift at work and then headed to Chester for three days with my parents. For this trip, I used a savings pot to cover any shopping, and managed to underspend for a change. I’m happy with the items I grabbed in Chester and Cheshire Oaks, including a new pair of trainers for work and three books. I could’ve spent a lot more, but I’m trying to be pickier with what I’m spending my money on!
STARTING PROJECT 50
I’ve been on Project 50 for just a couple of days now. I’ve been so lazy as of late that I need to get a handle on my health and well-being. That includes getting back into my daily healthy habits, covering everything from sleep to hobbies as well as nutrition and exercise. Whilst I haven’t been perfect so far, it’s about progress. I won’t be doing it like 75 Hard, where you’re meant to start the entire project over if you miss just one habit!
A DAY TRIP TO BRADFORD
Yesterday, I spent the day out in Bradford to see Jersey Boys for my first time on the new UK tour. I’ve already got a couple of dates booked too, as it’s one of my favourite shows. I was only in Bradford for around five hours, as I decided to spend a couple of hours in Hull before my train, doing some blog work. As for the musical, it’s a classic, and the new touring cast is exceptional. I’ve always loved the storytelling of the group, as well as including all the top hits.
And that’s a wrap on my July 2026 in review. I’m excited for a new month as always, so here’s to August.
