June felt busy in places, yet it was quieter than I can remember. I tried to focus on work and fun, but usually work gets in the way! Here’s a look at my June 2025 in review.
A MONTH OF SELF-REFLECTION
I don’t know if it’s because it’s the middle of the month or if I’m having some sort of thirties crisis, but right now, I feel a little stuck. Maybe it’s me not coping with the heat, or being halfway through 32. I know you shouldn’t, but I have comparisonitis because I’m not where I thought I would be at 22. That’s why I plan on using the next six months of 2025 to figure out what I want in life!
THREE THEATRE DAY TRIPS
In June, I went on three theatre day trips out of town. First, I saw Mary Poppins in Bradford, Northern Ballet’s Romeo and Juliet in Leeds and finished off with Kinky Boots in Sheffield last week. All three were excellent and very different to say the least! The Mary Poppins tour is so high-quality for a tour; usually, it’s done on the cheap, but this one isn’t. Romeo and Juliet was held in my favourite theatre, Leeds Playhouse, and Northern Ballet are the best of the best. It’s the second time I’ve seen Kinky Boots this year after seeing it in Leeds in May.
SEEING THE SIX UK TOUR IN HULL
Unfortunately, there wasn’t a press night for Six in Hull this year. However, because there wasn’t one last year either, I pre-booked a ticket months ago! I will say that I don’t think I’ll ever tire of seeing this show. It’s so fun, the songs are great, and I love that it brings new fans in all the time. Not sure I’d recommend it to such a young audience, though (younger than teenagers)!
FINDING A NEW CO-WORKING SPACE
So it’s been on my list for a while to find somewhere out of the house to work from on occasion. However, the price of some co-working spaces is astronomical for a bit of desk space, so I’ve found an alternative: the library! Initially, I didn’t know you could work from there because the Wifi never connects when I go to take out books. However, the reference library has desk space to work from AND the Wifi works! So instead of spending tonnes of money in coffee shops, a trip to the library is on the cards!
AMERICA’S SWEETHEARTS RETURNED TO NETFLIX
If you know anything about me, it’s that I’m a huge fan of the DCC. I’ve been a fan for quite some time, discovering their Making the Team show a number of years ago. You all know I’m a massive sports fan, but I’m also a former dancer. The DCC are incredible young women, arguably much better than the NFL team they represent. I love getting to know the BTS of the cheerleaders’ lives on America’s Sweethearts, but I still wish to see more dancing! If anyone ever wants to discuss the show in detail (likes, loves, hates), I’m here to chit chat! I know every cheerleader’s name from nearly every season. It would probably be my specialist subject on Mastermind nowadays!
And that’s a wrap on my June 2025 in review. It’s one of those months where I feel like I’ve just floated through. I’ve not really accomplished a great deal, but it’s okay to have a quieter month, especially in the lead up to summer. I actually have very few plans for the summer, as I tend to ramp up client work and blogging. Hopefully, I’ll be able to hit the mid-year reset button and use July as the new January!
