As I’m wrapping up June, I wanted to share another monthly spending post with you all. I love consuming money content, so I’ve started writing my own too. Here’s a look at my June 2026 spending diaries.
CLOTHING
BUDGET = £150.00, ACTUAL = £222.38
This is definitely more than I’d have liked (despite £27.95 being a gift for my dad), but I did spend a day in Meadowhall. In fact, that was where I spent most of it! My total included four pieces of Arsenal merch, a ‘Women’s cricket is a vibe’ T-shirt, and a bunch of pyjamas from M&S and Primark. I’ve discovered that I have zero summer PJs, so I was in desperate need of shorts and vests!
COFFEE SHOPS
BUDGET = £60.00, ACTUAL = £46.19
This is the lowest this total has been for a while, but that’s because I’ve been trying to get a later train to work and making my own hot drinks at home to take in a flask. I bought £30 worth of gift cards, but also part-paid with cash to use up some other vouchers.
EATING OUT
BUDGET = £80.00, ACTUAL = £80.99
I think I can survive 99p over budget! This covered five meals out, three of which were on my trip to Sheffield earlier in the month, and one when I went to the doctors/opticians. The final one was a chicken and chips bowl when my parents and I went to the cricket at Headingley.
LOCAL TRANSPORT
BUDGET = £120.00, ACTUAL = £112.10
I’m glad I was finally around the right budget figure for local trains and buses for work! However, the cost of getting to and from work is getting expensive, so it’s something that I’m definitely reconsidering for three shifts a week.
GROCERIES
BUDGET = £35.00, ACTUAL = £31.39
This is me either buying groceries when I’ve been out of town or whenever I’m on shift. Sometimes I’ll need to buy another bottle of water, or some days, you just need some chocolate! I also work near an M&S food, and sometimes, I buy myself some snacks for the way home.
BOOKS
BUDGET = £100.00, ACTUAL = £86.33
For 22 books, I think this is an amazing total! They were either from The Works, Amazon, World of Books or TGJones (thank you staff discount), an average of just under £4 per book. I’m trying to build out my physical shelves, because I cannot rely on Kindle Unlimited. It also means that if I try a book and enjoy it, I can get the paperbacks!
BEAUTY APPOINTMENTS
BUDGET = £32.00, ACTUAL = £32.00
This is my regular nails appointment every three to four weeks. This time, I got a purple/green holographic chrome powder on my nails. However, it’s peeled off gradually over the past couple of weeks, so I doubt I’ll get it again!
HEALTH + BEAUTY
BUDGET = £50.00, ACTUAL = £45.75
I’m thrilled that I managed to get this figure under budget. Despite doing a Project Pan this year, I have an addiction to recycling my empties in Boots. This covered three orders, two of which I made online. I don’t like ordering from Boots online usually, as often their products leak! However, there were a couple of Tenner Tuesdays that I made use of in June.
STATIONERY
BUDGET = £0.00, ACTUAL = £20.50
I went to Meadowhall, so naturally, I had to go in Flying Tiger. It’s my weakness for sure, so I’m glad we don’t have a store in Hull. I’m well stocked up, so technically, I don’t need it. However, I like pretty notebooks, and want to get back into paper planning to reduce my screen time.
THEATRE TICKETS
BUDGET = £30.00, ACTUAL = £30.00
In June, I bought two tickets for next year at Sheffield Lyceum. One’s for the Jersey Boys tour, and one’s for Northern Ballet’s Wuthering Heights. Jersey Boys is one of my favourite musicals and Northern Ballet are my favourite ballet company. I bought two £15 tickets, which is super cheap!
TRAINS
BUDGET = £91.00, ACTUAL = £14.80
I managed to get a £10 off coupon for Northern Rail, which meant my July train fare for my Sheffield trip was just £14.80. I’d originally planned on buying all of my July and August train fares, but I just never got around to booking them.
AMAZON
BUDGET = £0.00, ACTUAL = £145.94
I fell for the Prime Day sales, but managed to stock up on all of my tablets for the next few months, as well as my eczema cream. It’s incredibly hard to find anywhere, and I’d already run out of my current bottle. However, most of this fund is me buying 14 seasons of Law and Order: SVU. They were selling the earlier seasons for £4.99 on Prime Video, and I bought them all! It’s my favourite TV show, so I’ll get my money’s worth for sure!
MISCELLANEOUS
BUDGET = £100, ACTUAL = £101.30
This was meant to be a category that wasn’t needed, but I ended up needing new glasses after my eye test. It also covers buying four cards on Thortful and an emergency run to Boots for heat patches.
BUSINESS ONE-OFFS
BUDGET = £14.99, ACTUAL = £14.99
I had to renew my CBS domain when I moved it back over to WordPress from Squarespace. Originally, I moved it to Squarespace for a fresh start, but I’m sick of paying for two monthly hosting plans. Now I’ve cut my monthly business costs by £20.
TOTAL BUDGET = 862.99, ACTUAL SPENT = £984.66
£121.67 OVER BUDGET
Obviously, I’m very disappointed to be over budget in my June 2026 spending diaries. However, I’m blaming this mostly on my Amazon purchases, as they were all unplanned! I never remember when Prime Day is, so whilst I’m trying to spend less on there, it’s the cheapest place for many items.
