How are we nearly at the halfway point of 2024? No, it’s not halfway just yet because that’s the end of June/beginning of July. Anyway, here’s my May 2024 in review.
APPLYING FOR WORK
In May, I’ve had just two job pre-interviews (didn’t get any further) and I cancelled one this week after extensive research on the company (their Glassdoor reviews were horrendous). I’ve seen so many people online struggling for work and a few friends are at risk of redundancy too so it’s getting even tougher out there.
THE FALL GUY
Seriously, Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt have insane chemistry. However, I’m pretty sure both of them have amazing chemistry with anyone on screen because they’re both great actors. I laughed so much during this film that once again, someone tutted at me for laughing too loudly. I’ll admit I do laugh loudly but only when something is insanely funny! I’d give this 4/5 stars.
TRIP TO BRADFORD TO SEE WICKED
For Mother’s Day this year, I got my mum and I tickets to see Wicked in Bradford as that’s the closest the tour was coming to Hull. It was lovely to get out of town but I’m more used to going it alone! Wicked was amazing, from the cast to the costumes, the set to the choreography. The only downside was some of the sound. We were in some of the highest seats but could barely hear Glinda or Fiyero, both in terms of volume and annunciation.
WSL SEASON ENDING
It was a bit of a naff season as an Arsenal fan. Yes, we won the Conti Cup but we only finished third in the league and we should’ve scored probably double the amount of goals we did across the season. We have an incredible team of individuals and team spirit but for some reason, it’s just not clicking on the pitch that much.
MIEDEMA LEAVING ARSENAL
The main reason that this season sucked is that my favourite player of all time, the GOAT herself, Vivianne Miedema, is leaving Arsenal. When I say leaving, I actually mean that the club hasn’t issued her a new contract. Basically, she clashes with the manager because she’s got ideas and is trying to push us to the next level. The manager can’t find a spot to play her in. She’s that good, you find a spot for her. A season of a crap scoring conversion rate can be solved by playing the club’s all-time top goalscorer more! She’s stayed with us when she could’ve gone elsewhere, we owe her at least one more year.
SUMMER OF CRICKET
Hooray, another sport to watch and get obsessed with again before the Olympics. I’m more into women’s cricket but with the T20 World Cup starting and the return of The Hundred, I might watch the men if they’re on. I enjoyed the women’s series against Pakistan though!
That’s everything for my May 2024 in review. It wasn’t my best but I got through it. Here’s hoping June is significantly better and my life starts to improve (mostly work-wise).
