We’re nearly halfway through the year. I’m officially using June as my ‘fresh start’ month (a six-month year for June-November is perfect because nobody is functioning properly in December). May was pretty good to me, so let’s have a look back first before heading into my six-month year. Here’s my May 2026 in review.
ARSENAL ARE PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS
I mean, I couldn’t start with anything else, could I? I’ve been an Arsenal fan since the late 90s, thanks to my dad. Although I’ve seen them lift three PL titles since I was born, I only remember them vaguely. 22 years is a long wait to be champions again, but it’s worth it. And yes, I’ll be living in Arsenal merch for as long as I can.
THE OFF CAMPUS OBSESSION
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll have seen the hype around the new Amazon series, Off Campus. I read the books a year or so ago and re-read them in the lead-up to the show. I’ve just finished watching the show for the fourth time, and I am a woman possessed. I actually love most of the changes made from the book, and yes, I’m a Garrett girl (I mean, he’s number 44 alongside one of my all-time heroes, Lewis Hamilton). The show is actually making me miss college and uni a little bit!
CURATING MY BOOK COLLECTION AGAIN
As I went back to read Off Campus, I realised that whilst eBooks and Kindle Unlimited are great, I wanted to have physical copies of my favourite books. Whilst I haven’t been able to find the Off Campus box set in The Works yet (they’re restocking in the next few weeks apparently), I’ve managed to buy a bunch of books from my favourite authors. I scoured the World of Books website for eight of them, and found a couple on Amazon. Also, I grabbed a couple of new releases from The Works: Fever Dream by Elsie Silver and The Daisy Chain Flower Shop by Laurie Gilmore. I’ve yet to read them, but they’re now on my TBR!
WORKING AS MUCH OVERTIME AS I CAN GET
As much as I complain about working sometimes, I’m trying to get as many hours as I can. I want full-time work right now, and with staff holidays, sickness and personal stuff going on at work, I’ve been picking up extra shifts when they’re available. I’m just trying to think of the money!
A CHILLED BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND
I originally planned to be in Sheffield for a concert, but I ended up selling my ticket at the last-minute. Instead, I stayed at home for the three days, spent a lot of time reading, and sat next to a fan for pretty much the full 72 hours. I also got the washing basket empty too, which is a huge adult win!
And that’s all for my May 2026 in review. It’s short and sweet, but I’m excited for June to get here so I can have a bit of a refresh.
