With just one month left in the year, I’m actually starting to wind down. After years of working in retail, I now get to enjoy my Christmas. In 2023, I’m aiming to take a whole month off from client work. I’ll use that time to relax and work on my blog instead. Before I share my December goals, let’s look at November 2023 in review.
WATCHING THE ERAS TOUR MOVIE FINALLY
To say this was the best three hours of the month is an understatement. I know many Swifties don’t want to watch the movie before seeing the tour live. However, I have a rubbish memory and will forget it all by August anyway. Apart from the annoying kids coughing and spluttering all the way through, I had a marvellous time singing and bopping along. However, I have learned that I don’t know the lyrics to anything after 1989 very well! Time to get swotting up.
TAKING TIME OFF
It’s rare that I actually allow myself to take time off from my work, blog and life. However, I did spend two days out of town in York and Beverley with my parents and it was lovely. I did a lot of walking but it was great to just get out of the house and get plenty of fresh air. York is probably my favourite place in the country but especially at Christmas time. Even on a Thursday, it was still pretty busy but I’ve always loved the mixture of independent shops and bigger retailers. Plus York has my favourite place: Cocoa Joe’s.
ARSENAL WOMEN MAKING A MOVE
My favourite team are finally starting to get some sort of rhythm to their season and are unbeaten in November. We’ve seen the return of both Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema, two of the best players in the world, and the team is starting to look much more solid. I’m loving the rotation of the squad and with injuries to key players, we’re getting to see some new and younger players shine. Whilst I love the more experienced, loyal players, it’s so great to see that the future of Arsenal looks bright too!
HAVING AN INBOX DECLUTTER
If there’s anything I love, it’s a clear space. That’s why I decided to spend a lot of time last weekend unsubscribing from tonnes of emails. I’d mostly signed up to various mailing lists to do with marketing or productivity. However, during the past two weeks, I’ve realised I either don’t read them or they just want me to buy their products/services. My inbox feels a lot lighter already. I hope to enjoy not waking up to over 100 unread emails every morning!
WATCHING LOTS OF CHRISTMAS FILMS
So far, I’ve watched 15 cheesy Christmas films (here are my all-time faves). Sure, they’re not ground-breaking storylines but they’re harmless and great for background noise. In terms of new movies for 2023, I loved Mystic Christmas and Joyeux Noel. I’ve got quite a lot sat on the Sky+ box so I’m planning on watching a lot more in December, especially when I take some time off. There are two a day on Channel 5 and they’re on all day long on Great Xmas and Christmas 24! Shall I do some review blog posts like I did in 2020 (part 1 and part 2)?
GETTING PREPPED FOR 2024
It might seem silly to be planning next year already but when you want to focus on travel and theatre, you need to plan ahead! I’ve got a spreadsheet of potential trips, booked a handful of tickets already, and bought my 2024 weekly diary and calendar. It helps me so I can budget in advance, which is something I definitely pride myself on.
Wow, November 2023 in review was definitely not exciting but I had fun nonetheless! I often read other versions of monthly reviews and other people seem to have the most exciting lives. However, I enjoy the quiet life and that’s okay.
