September has been and gone, but it’s time to reflect on it. Whilst it’s been a slow month in terms of blogging, I’ve finally been able to relax a little more and figure out my life. Here’s my September 2025 in review.
A WEEK IN WHITBY
For the first time in forever, I spent an entire week away from my laptop and just enjoyed myself exploring Whitby. It’s a place that I’ve been going to since I was a kid, and it was great to go back again after not visiting for years. I went with my parents and we stayed in a lovely two-bed apartment overlooking the railway line and the River Esk. It was a low-spend week (the perks of going with your parents are that they like to pay for you), and we had some lovely meals out!
SEEING BUSTED V MCFLY TWICE
McFly are hands down my favourite band of all time. I’d say I went 70% for McFly and 30% for Busted, but both bands put on a great show. James Bourne was missed massively as he was my favourite Busted member! As an McFly fan, I wished they’d played more album tracks, but they played what the crowd wanted to hear mostly. The highlight was definitely Charlie and Danny’s acoustic set, singing 3am and Not Alone, two of my favourite Busted/McFly songs.
TINA THE MUSICAL IN SHEFFIELD
It’s a musical that I’ve never seen before, and wow, I wish I had! I wouldn’t say I’m a massive Tina Turner fan, but I do like many of her songs. In fact, there were a few more than I thought I knew, as well as a couple that I didn’t. What I didn’t know was just how hard her life had been growing up and at the start of her career. She overcame a lot to become a superstar and had such a unique style about her.
RETURNING TO MY OLD JOB
Newsflash, I’ve decided to return to the world of retail, my old job in fact. I’m heading back to the Post Office because right now, I just want some consistent income for the time being. It feels like a step back at times, but for me, it’s what I need. I might stay in this role for a while, I may move to another branch, or I might get another full-time retail job out of town. For right now, I just want to go to work a couple of days a week, work on client stuff the other days, and take at least one day off completely! I’ll be starting next week, hopefully, and we’ll just see what happens!
A DOUBLE CINEMA DAY
It’s been a while since I went to the cinema, so I decided to double-stack and see two in one day. First up was The Roses. I had no idea what to expect, but Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch were outstanding. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time I actually laughed out loud to a film as much as this one. They need to do more movies together because their dry British humour was perfection. After that, I watched the final Downton Abbey movie, which was a perfect ending to the entire show/movie franchise. My only complaint was that once again, it was the Lady Mary show, when I’d have loved to have seen more of the supporting character. I did love Barrow’s growth as a character, and that everyone did get a happy ending!
AN EXCELLENT MONTH OF SPORT
Red Roses winning the Rugby World Cup. Europe retaining the Ryder Cup. Arsenal men 2nd in the league. Arsenal women unbeaten (but should’ve had at least three wins instead of two). Hull FC missing out on the Super League play-offs but much better than last season’s disaster. Nine days of athletics World Championships (just wish we had more than five medals and not a single gold?). So much to watch, not enough time! Luckily, winter is a quieter time with just the football and women’s Cricket World Cup, and the end of the rugby league season.
STARTING MY PERSONAL CURRICULUM
I’ve seen this trend all over TikTok, and because I’m a massive nerd, it was one I had to jump on. For me, my focus will be on working on my quiz expertise. Whilst I’d love to partake in pub quizzes, I’ll settle for quiz TV shows instead! My areas of focus for quarter four are UK prime ministers, US presidents, the UK monarchy, countries, their capitals and their flags. Whilst they might not be the most interesting topics, they’re the foundations for quiz shows! I’ve even got myself a new notebook because what’s life without new stationery?
And that’s a wrap on my September 2025 in review, with lots of fun had and relaxation! October is set to be full of focus, with my new job, balancing that, clients and my blog, and locking in for the next three months with my health and fitness. That’s once I get rid of this cold, though!
