If you’re in need of hitting the reset button, starting a brand new challenge is the perfect way to get out of a slump. For me, I’m an all-or-nothing person so if I’m going to change my life, I need to go fully in. That’s why I’m doing the 75 soft challenge: my way. Here are my rules for the challenge.
MORNING ROUTINE
I watch a lot of morning routines on YouTube and quite frankly, most just look overwhelming to me. I’m someone who’s most productive in the morning so for the most part, I just want to get on with my day. That means a very quick routine to get my day started. I’ll do an hour or so of work and then spend a little while doing my skincare and brushing my teeth. Here are my four main habits that I want to hit every morning:
- 7am alarm 5/week, 8am alarm 2/week
- Meditate for a few minutes
- Gratitude journalling
- Make the bed
EVENING ROUTINE
I’d say my evening routine is more important to me than my morning routine. I like to wind down and I love sleep! It’s also my favourite time to read too. It might seem boring to spend the evening reading in bed but I’m 31 and I’m tired. A simple life is the life for me!
- 9pm: start winding down
- 15-minute tidy
- Duolingo for at least 10 minutes
- 10pm: no phone
- Read until I’m tired
- 10.30pm bedtime 4/week, 11pm 3/week
MOVEMENT
This is probably the main reason I wanted to do some version of 75 Soft. Whilst I doubt I could ever do the 2 workouts a day required for 75 Hard, the idea of moving my body every day is something I can do. I’ll be starting off small because I’ve not worked out properly in months, with the aim to get to an hour a day eventually. I also need to get more fresh air because I am a hermit.
- Workout Mon-Fri + Sunday
- Go for a walk 5/week
- Stretch daily
- Aim to get to 10k steps daily (eventually)
DIET
When it comes to food, I’ve experimented more and more the older I’ve gotten. If 16-year-old me could see the 31-year-old me eating the variety of foods that I eat now, she’d be mindblown! With that being said, I can always make improvements. I could snack less and incorporate more colour into my meals.
- 3 portions of fruit + veg daily minimum
- Intermittent fasting 7pm-11am
- Drink 2 litres of water daily minimum (aim for three)
- Take vitamins + probiotic tablet daily
It might seem silly but the best way to get the 75 soft challenge: my way done is to have some guidelines. Like I said, the idea is to do the challenge with your own twist so you feel motivated. Sure, you can follow the ‘set’ rules that the challenge has online but it can be unattainable for many people.
I’m giving myself a week to ease in before officially starting on the 25th March. I’ll be sharing my journey (hopefully daily) on TikTok and there’ll be progress reports on Instagram and Twitter too.
