I go through such peaks and troughs with reading so that’s the reason that this quarterly review is being uploaded at least a month late. Summer tends to be the time when I read the most but this year, I’m feeling a bit too stressed to read as much as usual. Anyway, here’s an update about what I read in Q2 2023.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ READS
Five-star reads were very hard to come by in Q2! In fact, there’s only one book on this list, the Cheat Sheet! Best friends to lovers is such a fun book trope that is probably overdone but honestly, I love it! Most of my favourite chick-lit stories have been a friends-to-relationship storyline. The characters in this one are so relatable and funny and it’s got some really obvious chemistry, even if the characters aren’t sure themselves!
The Cheat Sheet – Sarah Adams
⭐⭐⭐⭐ READS
Oh lookie here, more chick lit (and the odd non-fiction book thrown in). I’ve found them so much easier to read lately as opposed to non-fiction. Duckling was an unexpected read as I was expecting chick lit but it was far from it. I don’t read a lot of emotional stories but this was a really intriguing story.
Atomic Habits has been on my TBR list for aaaaages and I finally got around to reading it. I thought there were plenty of tips and tricks in there to try out but it wasn’t as groundbreaking as others say it is.
Just Date and See – Portia MacIntosh
Tools of Engagement – Tessa Bailey
Atomic Habits – James Clear
Duckling – Eve Ainsworth
Plan a Future That Sets You Free – Lara Spadetto
Out of the Habit – Anika J. Green
7 Steps from Burnout to Happiness – Karren Romero
⭐⭐⭐ READS
Jen Sincero is an author that I see loads of people talking about but honestly, her Making Money book didn’t inspire me that much. Maybe it’s because I’ve read a fair few money books over the past couple of years but there wasn’t any new information to me in her book.
Morning Makeover was something I wanted to read because my morning routine is a bit all over the place (mostly because of the Women’s World Cup). However, just like Making Money, I didn’t really learn anything new from it!
Morning Makeover – Damon Zahariades
You Are a Badass at Making Money – Jen Sincero
⭐⭐ READS
This book was just bad. It’s one of the few books that I’ve actually written a review for on GoodReads. The main female character isn’t perfect but wow, the male one is an awful human being. Tessa, this is not your finest book. I much prefer romance books where the characters are actually likable!
Love Her or Lose Her – Tessa Bailey
And that’s your lot on what I read in Q2 2023. I would do in-depth book reviews but honestly, I forget about them as soon as I’ve finished reading them. It’s probably because I read right before falling asleep!
