It’s a well-known fact that watching TV and films is one of my favourite hobbies. Often, it’s just background noise when I’m writing blog posts but over Christmas, I actively try not to and actually watch the show or film in question. Here’s what I watched in December 2023.
DCC:MTT SEASONS 3-4, 6-8 + 13
This will be a show that I rewatch until the end of time. It’s been on MTV every single morning so I’m just recording it and watching it at least twice before deleting an episode. It’s my favourite reality TV show and it’s fun to see the incredible dancing talent! I’ve seen it so many times that I know half of the routines!
THE VAMPIRE DIARIES SEASONS 6-8
I’ll admit that I can’t really remember most of the storylines from the last three seasons. In all honesty, I mostly had it on as background noise! However, it was nice to see other characters get the spotlight with Elena gone. However, Bonnie was the best character throughout the show, saving everyone multiple times. Yet she didn’t get the happy ending with Enzo that she deserved! Also, I’m not a Steroline fan, sorry! I adore them separately but not as a couple.
STRICTLY COME DANCING SERIES 21
That final was one of the best that I can remember. I was never a massive Bobby fan but he really brought his A-game to the final. I’ve been a Layton fan since day 1 and Ellie was so consistent from about the halfway point. She was a worthy winner, even if I did want Layton to win! I’m really hoping for an All-Star season because I want to see my all-time faves, particularly Danny Mac and Tom Chambers!
MAMMA MIA! I HAVE A DREAM
So it’s a well-known fact that I really don’t like Mamma Mia or ABBA. However, I love any musical theatre competition show and have watched them all! I wish they’d have auditioned for Sophie and Donna or some of the ‘older’ characters in the show. Sky’s barely even a main cast member in Mamma Mia and I genuinely think Tobias will be wasted in the show!
BODY IN THE SNOW
This was a Channel 5 documentary about the murder of Joanna Yeates. British true crime documentaries are something I have a huge fascination with. In this case, Christopher Jeffries was originally the main suspect but was completely innocent. I remember at the time him being absolutely annihilated by the British press and I say good for him for suing the papers that defamed his character! However, it doesn’t bring a young woman back and Joanna’s death and this case will forever be one that sticks with me.
KINKY BOOTS THE MUSICAL
Kinky Boots has been one of my favourite musicals since I first saw it on stage but because it’s been so long, I’d forgotten just how good the show is! Killian Donnelly and Matt Henry are a dynamic duo and I just adore their chemistry. The songs are insanely catchy and I love the representation on stage. It’s a musical that has all the right elements: amazing songs, great performances and a strong storyline. Everything just works well together!
ICE AGE 1 + 2
It turns out that according to the TV Time app, I watch the Ice Age movies every Christmas! My dad and I love them so much. I love watching kids’ films like Ice Age because whilst they’re made for kids, so many of the jokes are aimed at adults. The Ice Age films are some of the best at that!
TOY STORY 4
So I’ve seen the first three but never the fourth one. It was fun but I felt like the third one completed the story. The fourth one, whilst it was a good story, just felt like cashing in. However, it was nice to see Bo Peep get a starring role but I did miss the other toys, especially Rex because he’s my favourite!
14 HALLMARK CHRISTMAS MOVIES
I didn’t watch as many Hallmark movies in December as I did in November. In fact, I think my brain was fried from watching so many! However, I did watch some amazing ones and have included my ratings below.
- Baking Spirits Bright – ⭐⭐⭐
- Six Degrees of Santa – ⭐⭐⭐

And that’s what I watched in December 2023. Other than Christmas films and my latest box set, I feel like I didn’t watch that much! However, December is one of those months where we all have less time than usual but often sit down as a family to watch a film.
