January is always an important month to me so I’m not here for the Jan slander. Other than my birthday, I’m a sucker for a fresh start and refocusing on what I want. Shall we get stuck in straight away with my 10 goals for January 2023?
You’ll notice that some of these are included in my 23 goals for 2023 post as I aim to break down my yearly goals. I’ve also not included a recap of December because it was a hot mess.
Get fresh air daily
Now I’m self-employed, I’ve become very lazy and often don’t leave the house for days. Instead of saying, I’m going to work out every day, I wanted to take baby steps and focus on movement and fresh air. Hopefully, that will inspire me to get back to my former love of exercise and keeping fit.
Try 4 new coffee shops or cafes
2023 is going to be a year of trying new things as I aim to become the best version of myself. This includes new places, which inevitably means new cafes and coffee shops. With a trip to London and Sheffield in January, it should be easier to complete. I’d just like to go to places that aren’t chains because Costa and Nando’s are just too easy! I’ll make a list for each trip as well as one for local ones. Send me any recommendations!
A low-spend month
As I said above, I have a trip to London/Sheffield but other than that, I have zero other plans. I might have a press night at the end of the month as well as meeting up with a couple of friends for some food. On top of that, I want to pay for my February travel in advance (I have trips to London and Manchester). I’ll aim to have a low-spend month just in case, rather than no-spend.
Pay my tax bill
It’s due on the 31st so this goal has to be achieved to avoid a fine! I’ll probably pay it late in the month because I want to enjoy my trip first!
Save £500
Whilst my goal for the year is to save £10k, I know that I’ll be spending during my trip a fair bit so I’ve set a lower savings goal for January. This mostly means that I need to increase my income, which I’ve also set a goal for (but I’m keeping that to myself).
Update my business services page
Right now, my business website is a bit of a hot mess. I’ve not updated it for months, and have changed my packages since then! Firstly, I have to make an action plan for my website, and editing my services page is the main priority for January.
Have weekly writing sessions
With four websites now, I need to get into a routine with writing. Currently, I’m thinking I’ll have four separate sessions, one for each website, which will be spread over the week. However, I often plan business content monthly so I might not need to include this as a weekly writing session.
Set up my winter capsule wardrobe
A new year means I always have a little declutter. I got rid of 27 items from my wardrobe the other day as well as donated a bag of clothes that I decluttered at the end of 2022. My winter capsule (sharing on my minimalism blog soon) is going to be quite large as I want to include all of my long-sleeved tops, sweatshirts, and jumpers before I decide which to get rid of.
Post 4 weekly photo dumps to Instagram
I’ve got such a love/hate relationship with Instagram now. I’m not a great photographer and in all honesty, my life is pretty boring! If I post a photo dump every week, it might reinspire me to get back on the IG horse.
Read 10 books
I’m pleased to say, I’ve already read 1 book in January! With a goal of 100 for the year, I want to start the year off strong. I’ve got lots of paperbacks to get through, and I’d like to read more chick lit again instead of predominantly non-fiction.
BONUS GOAL: Celebrate my 30th birthday!
On the 14th, I’ll be turning 30 and I am filled with lots of emotions: excitement, nerves, as well as feeling very overwhelmed. It’s hard not to compare yourself to others your age who own their own home and have started a family, but I’m where I need to be right now. I’m focusing on my business and blogs, enjoying travelling and hobbies, and embracing that there’s no such thing as a ‘perfect’ life!
That completes my 10 goals for January 2023 (note: 11)! I love breaking down my yearly goals and setting intentions every month. Are you an annual or monthly goal-setter?
