Bloody hell, May already? April was a jam-packed month for me so I’m looking forward to a slower, more chilled-out May. I’ll be focusing on work, blogging and self-care a lot so let’s review April first and then set my 10 goals for May 2022.
APRIL GOALS
Before we go into my 10 goals for May 2022, let’s have a quick look back at April. What went well for me and what didn’t?
Read for 30 minutes every night
I was way off track on my reading in April. Life got too busy that I just fell asleep as soon as I got into bed most nights last month!
Write 1 client blog post every weekday (or 5 a week)
Another fail. It wasn’t a great month for client worth as I did lose a client. That definitely put me in a funk for a few days. May can only get better though, right?
Write 1000 words for ‘fun’ daily
Oops, this isn’t going too well. I did blog more than usual in April though so I’m taking it as a positive.
Follow Blogilates calendar for the month
I certainly didn’t focus on my health enough this month. When I went to London, I was so out of breath from all of the walking! Time to get my fitness back on track.
No-spend month
Other than my London trip, I had a pretty low-spend month. I was also sick for nearly 2 weeks with the flu so I tried to avoid online shopping too!
Stay on budget for London trip
Surprisingly, I was under budget. I didn’t have as many meals out and opted for McDonalds and KFC instead. Also, I limited the amount of takeaway hot chocolates and took a tub of instant with me. London isn’t the cheapest place in the country but you can do it on a budget and still enjoy yourself!
Finalise plans for rest of 2022
I’ve had a brief look at my calendar for the rest of the year but haven’t really got much set in stone. I think I’ll just take it a month at a time and see where my budget is for that month!
Create a schedule for blog content
Another no but I did have some time thinking about where I want my blog to go. I’ll spend some time in May brainstorming ideas and plotting them onto a content calendar.
Leave the house every weekday
Being sick for 2 weeks meant I barely left the house. When I spent 5 days in London, I spent the next couple of days at home to recover too! We’ll try again soon.
Look after myself better
Again, this took a backseat with being sick. I watched a lot of TV, ate a lot of Easter chocolate and had a lot of lie-ins. Oh well, it was probably my body’s way of telling me to chill the F out.

MAY GOALS
Setting my 10 goals for May 2022 was a bit of a challenge. I wanted to carry most of my April goals over but a new month also means a fresh start too!
No-spend month
After a spendy April, May looks set to be quiet. I’m not going out of town, I have two press nights to attend hopefully and zero other plans. I’d like to get my saving goals back on track which also means increasing my income. Let’s see if I can do it!
Follow Blogilates calendar for the month
I managed day 1 so we’re off to a good start. Whilst I might not do all of the videos each day, I want to make sure I move daily. I’ve been feeling very sluggish and energy-zapped so having a workout and stretching a bit more should help with that.
Get outside three times a week
This can be anything from a trip into town to work in a coffee shop or a walk around the village. I’m trying not to set the number too high so it’s manageable but three times seems like a fair amount.
Watch 5 musical films/DVDs
Again, I’ve got a head start and watched The Last Five Years on Sunday night. I’ve decided to start a new tradition of watching a musical every Sunday night so that will take me to 5 for May if I stick with it.
Get back into a routine + focus on habits
This is quite a vague goal but with more time this month, I want to cement my daily routines and start tracking my habits again. I’m all about celebrating small achievements so maybe I’ll do something nice for myself at some point this month, like book a theatre trip for June.
Write 1 client blog post every weekday (or 5 a week)
Another goal I’m carrying over as I want to focus on work a lot more in May. Writing for clients has taken a backseat when I was ill so I now need a massive month to make up for it!
Write for ‘fun’ daily
Instead of setting a specific word count, I’m just saying to write something daily. It can be a blog post or part of my eBook but small progress is still progress.
Blog 3 times a week
That being said, I want to create more consistency in my blog. Three blog posts a week seems doable so let’s stick with that! Now I need to brainstorm some ideas as I’ll only have two more theatre reviews in May!
Set up content calendars for May/June
In order to get consistent across my blogs, I need to have content calendars to stick to. Currently, they’re a bit all over but to get back on track with two blogs and my business website, I need some structure in there!
Spend 30 minutes a day on Duolingo
I’ve been using Duolingo since the 1st of January and have yet to miss a day. However, I haven’t been using it as much in the past month. I want to use the app a couple of times a day to make my way up the leagues and learn more French!
There you have it, my 10 goals for May 2022. I’ll be keeping note of my progress and making sure I achieve as many as possible this month! Make sure you follow me on Twitter and Instagram where I’m always chatting about my goals.
