Bloody hell, Q4 and October already? Something feels right: autumn is my favourite season and I’m feeling motivated. 2022 has been an odd year for me but I’m determined to finish it on a high. Shall we crack on with my 10 goals for October 2022 post then?
SEPTEMBER GOALS
Before we look at my 10 goals for October 2022, let’s have a look back at September. I cancelled my London trip because of the Queen’s death (didn’t want to be in central London the weekend of her funeral). Work has been slow and I feel like I’ve made little progress in every aspect of my life!
Low-spend month
DONE. My lowest-spending month since May! I had a good month for side hustles (surveys, receipts apps, round-ups and Vinted sales) for the first time in ages. Unfortunately, I ran out of a bunch of toiletries, so beauty spending was up this month as was eating out and events/travel. I worked from town a couple of days this month and overspent. Also, I paid for a couple of theatre tickets for next year and hotel/train tickets for this month!
Drink 2-3 litres of water daily
DONE. Whilst I didn’t hit two litres every day, I did most days! It’s something I actively track during the week as it also means I have to leave my desk to fill up my water bottle! On weekends, I seem to drink less so it’s something I’ll be watching from now on.
Implement content plans for business
DONE-ISH. Whilst I didn’t post to my business blog, I did post seven grid posts on Instagram in September. I took a break around the Queen’s death but definitely want to keep up with posting three times a week. Now to get the biz blog back on track!
Get a new biz client
Whilst this is a no for September, I did have a discovery call and have scheduled two more potential client calls for this week. I also managed to get an old client back on board too! Fingers crossed for a fully-booked end to 2022.
Weekly planning and review
DONE. I’ve really got into spending my weekend planning and plotting. Spending Friday nights listing my highlights and lowlights from the week has been eye-opening too. So many good things happen, from good feedback to finding a fiver in a supermarket car park!
Update my biz website
Another no. I didn’t have the brain capacity to mess around with my website this month. I’m bringing it into October with me instead!
Set up Notion
Another no. However, I’ve done a bit of research and unless I buy some templates, Notion doesn’t seem to be the project management system for me. I’ll stick to Asana for now!
Read 8 books
Another no. I finished one book but I’d love to get my reading bug back towards the end of the year. Cosy nights in bed with a book and a hot chocolate are what autumn is all about!
Follow Project 50 challenge
DONE. However, I followed it for two weeks and then put my back out. Unfortunately, I’m having to bench this challenge for now and I hope to restart it again once I feel better!
Set up autumn capsule wardrobe
DONE. It’s pretty large for a capsule wardrobe but UK autumnal weather can be bright sunshine to torrential rain! I’ve loved rediscovering some of my favourite sweatshirts and jumpers too!
SEPTEMBER RECAP

OCTOBER GOALS
I had a huge planning and goal-setting session last night as part of my monthly reset and I’m looking forward to keeping a closer eye on my progress this month. Here are my 10 goals for October 2022.
Reach income goal
With current clients having more work available and potential new clients on the way, I’ve set myself an income goal this month. I don’t do this every month but I’m hoping it helps to motivate me to keep pushing on for Q4.
Update my biz website
I’m carrying this over from my September goals because I still don’t have my new blog content prices on there. My whole website needs a bit of a revamp but step one is to at least update my services page with my new prices!
Post consistently across all blogs
This seems vague but for the most part, it means posting three times a week on my business blog and this one as well as on Instagram. I also want to post once or twice a week on my second blog. I’m going to have a content brainstorm this week and set up my content calendars for October and possibly November and December!
Write 3000 words a day
This seems like a lot of words but in theory, it’s three blog posts a day. I’ve decided this can be a mixture of client work, personal/business blog posts, social media captions and whatever else I plan to write! It will be my focus on weekdays but I won’t be as bothered if I don’t write on a weekend.
Prioritise healthy habits
This includes: using my habit tracker app every day, cooking three times a week, working out three times a week, getting out of the house five times a week and walking at least 5000 steps a day. The plan is to incorporate them into my daily routine and build on them every week.
Save 20% of every invoice
I’ve previously done this and I know it works! My tax bill is due in January but I’d like to pay it earlier as well as save in advance for next year too. It’s pretty much the worst part of being self-employed but I guess I’ll pay them like everyone else!
No-spend month
The aim is for 20 no-spend days, which gives me two spending days a week on average. I’ve already spent money on the 1st and 3rd so I’m only on 1/3 so far!
Make £100 in side hustles
September was a good month for side hustling so I want to continue it into October. I’ve got a bunch of trousers and jeans to upload to Vinted and plan to do online surveys most days. I get cashback on pretty much every transaction online and on my debit card as well as use receipt apps! We have to make money in every way possible right now!
Experiment with my schedule
I’m trying to work with each client in one batch. Some clients need more time than others and it also means I should have more time to blog too. I’ll probably get back to using Toggl too because you wouldn’t believe how much time you don’t use up when you truly focus on one task!
Read 4 books
My reading goal has changed multiple times this year and I really want to get back to some regularity. One book a week seems manageable and I want to read a mixture of fiction and non-fiction too.
And that’s a wrap on my 10 goals for October 2022 blog post. I’d love for you to keep me accountable and follow me on Instagram and Twitter!
