I’m a sucker for a review post, especially at this time of the year. There’s something so therapeutic about reviewing everything before setting up for a new year. I’ve a lot to get through so let’s get into my 21 goals for 2021 review.
BLOG
Blog consistently
DONE. This is my 45th blog post of the year, which is just under one a week. That’s more consistent than I’ve ever been before but I definitely go through phases with blogging. I want to get more consistent and have stuff scheduled in advance a bit more.
Write an eBook
I’ve started it and not touched it for months. During the Chrimbo Limbo, I’ve managed to sort out my chapter outline so it’s a work in progress. It’s not in relation to this blog but maybe I’ll write one around this blog at some point!
Work with 6 brands on paid opps
Definitely didn’t do this as I mostly worked on getting into the swing of writing regularly. In 2022, I’m hoping to focus more on working with brands so you never know. Maybe I’ll carry this goal forward?
Set up a newsletter
Another goal that I didn’t achieve. However, I’m not sure I want to set one up. My business mailing list hasn’t been a great success with it taking more time to schedule it and not a lot of reward. I’d rather concentrate on my blog itself.
Update old posts with photos/SEO
DONE-ISH. When you’re nearing eight years on this blog, that’s a lot of content to go through. I’ve tried to do it in reverse order, focusing on SEO as that’s most important. I’ve got up to 2019’s content now so still a long way to go!
Design my media kit
Another one yet to achieve. Because I haven’t been pitching to work with brands, I didn’t see the point in spending time on a media kit. I will be in 2022 as I look to diversify my income and up my blogging game.
Up my Pinterest/Tailwind game
I cancelled my Tailwind subscription so guess how this went?
BUSINESS
Do 2020/21 tax return early
DONE AND PAID! I filed it in April and paid in November. Hoping to keep that tradition alive and pay early every year!
Write an eBook
It’s just one of those goals that I’ve just never got round to doing. I know if I sit down and write it, it won’t take me too long. However, I’ll need to hire someone to design it for me so that’s something to save towards.
Blog once a week
When I took some time away from Instagram, I took a step back from my blog content too. Turns out I posted enough for about one a fortnight but I like to think they were quality posts. Time to brainstorm some new ideas!
Set up a newsletter
DONE. I set it up in September time I think and tried to send once a week. However, it doesn’t seem to be worth the effort right now. Maybe I’ll pick it back up at some point but not for right now.
Be more present in memberships
DONE. I culled the memberships I was in and kept the bare minimum. That way, I’ve gotten to know other members better and have found so many business pals this year. It’s great to share the ups and downs of being a business owner with people who understand!
MONEY
Save £10k through savings challenges
Nowhere near this target so we go again in 2022. I will buy a bloody house sooner rather than later!
Complete a no-spend year
Whilst there is no such thing as a no-spend year, I have cut back my spending. I’ll be looking to reduce it even more next year too. I have pretty much everything I could ever need!
Do a #21in2021 clothes challenge
Bought 101 items of clothing in 2021, oops. However, many of these were replacements and layering items. I also started shopping on Vinted quite a bit!
PERSONAL
Read 120 books
I’ve read around half of that total because I got out of the habit of reading before bed. I even reduced it to 80 to make it more attainable. Still didn’t work!
Bake once a week
Once a week was maybe a bit of a stretch. However, I’ve tried lots of different recipes and need to start tracking them! Hello new bullet journal!
Maintain a regular fitness routine
Hahaha, let’s move on.
Visit 10 new places in the UK
In a global pandemic, this was always going to be a struggle. Other than a holiday to the Peak District, the only other places I’ve travelled to this year are two day trips to Sheffield and an overnight stay in London. We’ll try again in 2022.
Journal daily
DONE. Again, I’ve not done it every single day, especially on weekends, but I’ve tried to do it as much as I can. All I write are three things I’m grateful for every morning, an affirmation and a paragraph on my thoughts for the day ahead. Nothing too complicated but it’s a nice way to set up the day.
Use up 50 empties (Project Pan)
DONE.. I think I’m nearing 45 but it wouldn’t surprise me if I missed a bunch. I’m taking it as a win! I’ve barely bought any beauty products this year, apart from necessities, yet still have tonnes in my stash.
There you have it, my 21 goals for 2021 review and the last blog post of 2021! I cannot wait for the New Year so look out for tomorrow’s post all about my 2022 goals. How was 2021 for you? Leave a comment below with your highlight. In 2022, I’ll be trying to share more on Instagram so give me a follow on there!
