It’s around 13 weeks until I see the Eras Tour and I need to get in shape. Right now, I leave my house once a week and do zero exercise. How can I expect to stand for hours at Wembley and not be out of breath/in pain? That’s why I’m doing this challenge and how I’m entering my healthy girl era.
Morning routine + habits
One routine I want to revamp is my morning routine. During autumn/winter, I enjoy a slower-paced morning, taking my time to get out of bed and ready for the day. With spring now here, my plan is to get up a bit earlier and get out of bed straight away, allowing myself one lounge morning a week (probably Sundays). Here are my morning routine habits.
- 7am alarm 5 days a week, 8am alarm 1 weekday + Sundays – I’m allowing myself one lie-in per weekday and using Sundays as my rest days
- No phone before my routine is complete
- Make the bed
- Get dressed
- Gratitude journalling – Simply jotting down three things I’m grateful for that morning
- Floss + brush teeth
- Skincare routine
- Stretch
- Drink one water bottle – I tend to drink more in the afternoon to make up for drinking less in the morning. Drinking a glass or a bottle during the first hour of the day should wake me up too!
- Make a hot chocolate and stand in the garden for a few minutes – I don’t eat breakfast so a hot chocolate is the only thing, other than water, that I eat or drink before dinner.
- Put on a load of laundry most days
- Do a YouTube workout – Just something to get my blood flowing and my energy up!
Daily habits
These are the habits I want to keep up with every day but they don’t necessarily fit into my morning or evening routine. It’s often stuff to track during the day or habits to be conscious of when making a meal or working at my desk.
- Workout or walk – I have to either leave the house to walk (whether that’s around the village, in town or running errands) or I have to workout (using a YouTube workout). Aim for 2 walks a week, 3 workouts (upper body, lower body, abs + HIIT with every session), pilates/yoga on Sundays.
- 3 litres of water a day – I already drink 2 litres a day so I want to aim for one more.
- Less snacking (straight after meals is the exception) – I eat a lot of chocolate pretty much after every meal and I snack all day long. That needs to stop!
- Up veggie + protein – This should hopefully end with snacking
- Aim for 5k steps if at home, 10k if out – 5k isn’t a lot to some but I spend a lot of time sat at home right now.
- Take vitamins twice daily (with dinner + tea)
- Intermittent fasting window 11am to 7pm
- Get 7-9 hours sleep (7.5-8.5 is ideal)
- Stand up at my desk for at least one hour every weekday afternoon – My posture sucks and I might get some extra movement into my day.
- Leave my phone in my bedroom when working in my office – It’s a massive distraction!
- Track work time + word count
Evening routine + habits
As I’ve said numerous times, my routines start with my evening routine. Getting prepared in advance makes for a smoother and simpler morning. It gives me much more time
- Write tomorrow’s to-do list – Before I close my laptop after my working day, I make a note of tasks I need to complete tomorrow.
- Inbox zero
- Wind down at 9pm – Turn off TV + laptop so I have very little screen time after that.
- Quick tidy up – That includes putting everything away on my desk, washing up, and cleaning the kitchen countertops.
- Put on pyjamas – I’m all about comfort so proper pyjamas are a necessity.
- Brush teeth
- Skincare routine
- Take probiotic tablet – I have a dodgy digestive and gut system and probiotics are a lifesaver.
- Duolingo – I’ve only missed one day since 1st January 2022 and my French is definitely improving.
- Read for 30 mins minimum
- Face mask twice a week
- Bedtime 10.30pm at the latest, 11pm on Thurs-Sat after rugby has finished
Sunday reset routine
My Sunday resets are a big deal to me. It’s my day to get my shit together before relaxing during my evening.
- Plan next week (life, blogs, work, plans, workouts) + money routine in the morning
- Meal plan + prep – Cook a couple of chicken breasts for paninis/flatbreads/wraps, cook a larger dish in the slow cooker to last me a couple of nights
- Watch a film in the evening – I have so many films on my watchlist!
- Change bedding and towels
- Extra skincare routine – face mask + foot scrub
- Housework – I try to deep clean one room a week so my monthly reset isn’t just cleaning the entire house!
- Charge all electronic devices – FitBit, Kindle, electric toothbrush + headphones
To me, it’s simply how to become the best, healthiest, happiest version of myself, improve my self-confidence and self-care, and achieve my goals. This challenge is like the 12 Week Year meets 75 Soft because I need to get my priorities sorted! This is how I’m entering my healthy girl era and I’m ready to look and feel my best for the summer and beyond that too. My body needs some energy and I need my confidence back.
That’s everything about how I’m entering my healthy girl era. I’d love it if you’d let me know if you’re doing something similar because we all need an accountability buddy. Give me a follow on Twitter, Instagram and TikTok for more updates. I promise to post more regularly.
