Now that we’re halfway through the year, it’s a great time to reflect on what’s happened so far and where you want to be at the end of the year. It’s okay to adapt and edit the goals that you set back in January, too. That’s why I’ve had a bit of a reset, so here are my 25 goals for 2025 2.0.
BLOG
Blog twice a week minimum, aim for three times a week
Originally, I wanted to blog every single day in 2025. However, I think I must’ve been high or something when I aimed for that! Now, I’m aiming for two posts a week, ideally three. I’d love to post every weekday, but right now, it’s just not feasible. Maybe in the future, who knows? Two posts a week seems reasonable for me, provided that I keep organised and write up posts in advance.
Have a content batching session every week
In an ideal world, I’d spend a full day writing blog posts and get a few done in a day. However, it’s rare that I have a full day to myself to sit down and write. However, it’s more realistic to find one morning, afternoon, or night instead. I don’t want to fix a date or time, because being freelance means my schedule changes weekly.
BUSINESS
Blog once a month, ideally once a week
I’ve really fallen off with posting blog posts on my business website. In fact, I’ve only posted three this year over there! That’s definitely not good enough, so I need to improve on that. Instead of aiming too high, I want to start with one per month. That means just six for the rest of the year. Then I can use Christmas time to reset and start again.
Have a content batching day every month
As I said above, posting blog posts has not been at the top of my agenda. Ironic for a content writer! However, I’ve also rarely posted on my socials either. If I can, I want to dedicate a full day every month to planning, writing, creating graphics and scheduling social media content. Posting two or three times a week requires more brainstorming than you might think. I find it hard to come up with social media content ideas, and it takes me even longer to mess around on Canva!
Sort out 25/26 finances on external hard-drive
This is still on my list because I want to keep up with it. Did you know that if you keep track of these sorts of things regularly, it’s less overwhelming in the end? I know, rocket science! Basically, every time I send an invoice or expense something, the invoice/receipt needs to go in its folder. It will take me less than a minute every time, yet I always put it off. So far, I’ve back-dated this to April, and it’s so easy to find things!
FINANCIAL
Set up a monthly savings routine
My biggest freelance payslip comes in mid-month, so my monthly savings routine is the day when that comes into my business bank account. I’ve been saving around £300-350 per month into my ISAs and pension, and then the rest mostly goes into sinking funds. So far, I’ve stuck with it most months!
Pay off one credit card
I’ve been trying to pay an additional £100 minimum towards my credit card every month. I’d love to pay one of them off by the end of the year, but circumstances can always change. For example, I don’t think I’ll pay off much more than the minimum this month. I’d rather put more into my house savings fund instead.
Limit book purchases
I’ve been spending more than planned on books this year, and I want to reduce that. I’ll set myself a budget every month of around £10-20, because I’m a sucker for 99p Kindle books. However, I’ve got so many books on my TBR right now, I really don’t need to buy any more books, unless it’s a new release.
Track sinking funds + fund regularly
Right now, I’ve taken my foot off the gas when it comes to funding my sinking funds. However, the focus now is on saving into my house fund as much as possible to move. I also save a small amount monthly into a beauty fund for various appointments. It’s something I need to get back on track with in the second half of 2025.
Start paying into my pension again
I’ve already achieved this goal, so now it’s about maintaining it. It’s not a lot, but I have been paying something in monthly. When you’re freelance, it’s something that can get forgotten about, but whilst I need to think about the here and now, I need to also think a little about retirement too!
Save into H2B + LISAs again
Again, I’m proud of myself for paying into both so far in 2025. It’s something that I haven’t done for a while, so I’m glad to get back to it. I’m sure I could add more (to my LISA, especially), but I’d rather pay small amounts more often, rather than pay large amounts and have to withdraw them constantly.
Set up a new income stream
I’m not sure where I’m going to find the time to do this, but I want to make some passive income. I’ve been thinking about digital products for ages, but it’s just finding something that doesn’t take an age to create but is worth spending the time to make.
HEALTH + WELLNESS
Stick to my beauty appointment schedule
This seems like an odd goal, but my 30s are all about maintenance. I’ve got a baby face and don’t look 32, so I want to keep it that way as long as possible! That means regular facials and dermaplaning, especially, as well as getting my nails done frequently, and quarterly haircuts. In fact, I need to get my next appointments booked in now!
My 6-month challenge: Feeling Free for 33
This sounds like an odd goal, but in six months time, I’ll be turning 33. I think since turning 30, I’ve never felt fully right. I’m not sure what it is, but I want to be living my life as my best self. I want to spend the next six months working on myself and becoming the woman I’ve always wanted to be.
Make some friends
This might be a little sad, but I don’t have many friends. I think it’s partially because I don’t put myself out there much, but also because I’m sort of stuck living where I do and not having my own car anymore. If I can move and find a new job, I’d love to find something fun to do out of the house to make some friends! Maybe join a dance class or something?
Focus on weekly resets again
I love my weekly resets. However, as much as I prefer to do them on a Sunday, my freelance schedule doesn’t always allow me to. However, it’s rare that I’m working Friday right through to Monday, so in theory, my weekly reset could be done on any of these four days. As long as I can plan in advance, I can select the day, which might be different every week. However, I do like to spend even just an hour getting the next week planned, updating my budget, and doing some housework.
Start + complete 75 Soft
This will be a goal until I complete the challenge. I know that 75 Hard is far too hard, but 75 Soft seems more achievable. However, I suck at working out because I’m just so lazy nowadays. I’m very good at starting the challenge, but I end up lasting just a week or two. I’d love to give it a proper go, maybe even sooner rather than later!
PERSONAL
Read 52 books
Originally, I was aiming for 80 for the year, but I’ve got off to a slow start and am now adjusting my goal. I often read more in the summer and then around Christmas time, but I’d rather just edit the goal! Now, I’m aiming to finish 52 books, which is still one a week. Doable and not impossible.
Stick to quarterly capsule wardrobes
I’ve just created my third of the year, so there’s only autumn to go now in September/October. That’s usually my favourite to create, but it’s usually the biggest one too. I’ve got a few pieces that I want to buy, plus I wear lots of layers because I’m always cold! However, I am enjoying wearing a bunch of summer clothing for the time being.
Bullet journal for fun
This is a hobby that I’ve picked up in recent years, and it’s a great way to switch off. In fact, it’s one of the few screen-free activities that I do! I’ve got my regular yearly collections journal as well as my theatre scrapbook. I’d love to try junk journaling, but I don’t really do enough during the week to collect stuff!
Monthly solo date days
This can be anything from a day out of town to a trip to town for a coffee and a library visit. Solo date days can be expensive or cheap if you pre-plan them! It’s something I try to do monthly, just to get out of the house. Working from home often means I don’t leave my house until I do the food shopping on a weekend! It’s not healthy, so I try to do something fun for myself!
Move out of my parents’ house
This is probably the biggest goal on my 25 goals for 2025 2.0 list, because I have to do this soon for my own sanity. I’m applying for full-time jobs constantly, both in marketing and retail, because I need something! I’ve got my eye on Harrogate and Sheffield as the two frontrunner locations to move to, and I’ve already got a bunch of rental properties saved on Right Move. I need to save a bit more to have a buffer for a deposit and furniture, but I’m nearly there.
Go through + sort email folders
This is an ongoing task, because there are just so many. Note to self in future: unsubscribe early on because you won’t read most of the useless emails. I’ve still got thousands and thousands to go through, so I’m praying I can get this done by the end of the year!
Do a Project Pan half-year
Another part of my life where I have too many is toiletries. I’ve decided that I won’t be buying anything unless I run out of it. I have more than enough for at least six months. The only problem is that I’m collecting my empties to take for the Boots recycling scheme, both toiletries and blister packets. I think I’ve already got about thirty total, so now I need to find storage room for them all!
Make time for hobbies for one hour a week
One key goal for me for my 25 goals for 2025 2.0 is the need to relax more. The easiest way to do this is by making time for my hobbies every single week. That excludes blogging, because I want to treat blogging like a part-time job. However, it does mean reading, bullet journaling and working out. I’ve also still got a bunch of friendship bracelet supplies from the Eras Tour last year. We’re heading to Busted v McFly in a couple of months, so I might make some for that for fun!
And that’s all of my 25 goals for 2025 2.0. I like to keep it as a mixture of fun and work-type goals, because achieving things doesn’t have to be super stressful! However, I do need to find more of a work-life balance, because I need to!
