Originally, I thought I hadn’t watched a great deal throughout August but I actually have! More than last month anyway! In fairness, I seem to watch a lot more than the average person but it’s my favourite hobby. Without further ado, let’s get stuck in with what I watched in August 2023.
CHICAGO PD SEASON 9
It’s taken me a while to get through Chicago PD (4 months in fact) but I’m very nearly through it. I’m also halfway through season 10 right now because I finally had the mental capacity to watch Jesse Lee Soffer’s last couple of episodes. I actually really enjoyed season 9 though. The storylines seemed to be better than some of the other later seasons, especially the Escano storyline. Torres is a great addition to the team too.
THE HILLS SEASONS 1-6
I was really in the mood for some light-hearted, easy TV in August and that’s why I managed to get through all six seasons of The Hills. It’s one of the only reality TV shows that I actually like but seasons 5B and 6 were a struggle. Lauren Conrad is one of my favourite people on the planet so when she, and Whitney earlier, left, it just wasn’t the same. I’ve always loved that it featured their workplaces yet when Lauren and Whitney left, it was all about partying and relationships. Kristin is also not my favourite addition to the show; she just comes across as a horrible person! Lauren might have been too boring for reality TV but she was likeable!
LAW & ORDER: SVU SEASON 16
Hooray, I’m up to the Carisi seasons! He and Barba are my favourite male characters from the show. There are some really great episodes in season 16, looking at really relevant crimes happening right now. Amaro’s ending is sad but honestly, he was brought in to replace Stabler but it’s just not the same. I’ve always liked Stabler just not as a romantic interest for Benson. Controversial but she’s too good for him!
DALLAS COWBOYS CHEERLEADERS: MAKING THE TEAM SEASON 6
My favourite reality TV show is back on screens in the UK. I saw someone on Instagram watching it, asked what channel it was on and got no reply. After some digging, I found that it’s been on MTV from the beginning. Usually, it’s on ITVBe! However, it’s not on any of MTV’s catch-up channels so I only got to watch it from season 6.
HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 1, 2 + 3
I needed a cheesy musical to watch and my first thoughts were to watch the High School Musical films! The original plan was to watch them in one day/night but instead, I watched one a night for three nights. I tried my hardest not to sing and dance along but alas, it didn’t happen. And yes, I still know every word and every step because as a former dancer and musical theatre kid, you just don’t forget some stuff!
And that’s it for my post on what I watched in August 2023. These wrap-up posts are always shorter than my other posts but I just they can provide you with inspo to watch a show listed. I might start sharing my watchlists on Instagram too on a weekly basis.
