Thanks to the Women’s World Cup, I haven’t watched quite as much TV as I usually do in a calendar month. However, that’s not to say I didn’t watch anything! Here’s a quick recap of what I watched in July 2023.
Chicago PD s6-8
I’m near the end! I’ve had season 10 sat on my Sky+ box for months and I finally get to start it. However, it means I’m closer to seeing Halstead leave and I’m not prepared for that. As I type this in August, I’ve just finished season 9 so I can start it as soon as possible! I’ll admit the earlier seasons are my favourites before they started changing the cast nearly every season.
SVU s15
This is one of the biggest seasons in the show’s history with two of the original characters leaving. Munch and Cragen are definitely missed but I do enjoy the later seasons more. Season 15 was another one with tonnes of guest stars too, which is always a fun game when you forget they were in an episode. To be fair, nearly every actor has been in an episode of SVU at some point in their career!
9-1-1 Lone Star s1-2
One of the best shows, full of heart, drama, and comedy: everything I love in a TV series. The cast really does make this show. I really do hope they’re as close in real life as they appear to be on the show! Unfortunately, I don’t have Disney+ anymore so I’ll have to figure something out to watch the later seasons.
Secrets of Success
This was a random documentary on Sky that caught my eye and it was pretty good. I love hearing about famous peoples’ real-life stories and this was all about successful leaders in sport. From cricket to football, F1 to rugby union, it was really interesting to see what makes them great leaders and how they manage their teams.
Barbie
So it’s not often I go to the cinema (once a year max) but I had to go to the Barbie movie! The cinema wasn’t too busy thankfully but I’m not sure the parents of the younger children there realised that it isn’t a kid’s movie. I thought it was a rollercoaster of emotions. Some parts were funny, some parts made me angry (patriarchy), and some made me nostalgic. America Ferrera’s speech made me want to stand up with my hand to my heart!
Women’s World Cup
I managed to get through 26 games in July out of a possible 38. It’s safe to say it’s taken over my life! However, with the tournament coming to the business end, I might get a little bit of free time back! Of course, I’m supporting England but as an Arsenal supporter, I want our players to do well also!
That’s what I watched in July 2023. I told you it would be short and sweet but they’re always a fun recap for me to do. Check out my other TV blog posts here. Give me a follow on Twitter and Instagram to see if I go on any more cinema trips soon.
