It’s time for the last instalment of my TV diaries of 2022, so to speak. I love reading these sorts of posts from other people because I find lots of new shows to watch! Today’s post is all about what I’ve watched in December, and November too. Let’s crack on as there’s a lot to get through!
DVD
Chicago Fire season 1
Apparently, I watched this in November and I legit don’t remember! I’ve not binged the One Chicago shows this year so I’ll do it all again in 2022. That’s before I start Grey’s Anatomy again. #obsessed
Gilmore Girls seasons 2 + 3
I’ve been unable to watch more because for some reason, disc 1 of season 4 keeps jumping. I now have to watch the first 4 episodes on Netflix and pray the rest of the DVD works! That’s what you get for being old-school.
Pretty Little Liars seasons 1 + 2
Now I know it’s super problematic but I still love this show. Certainly in the earlier seasons, it’s so gripping, even when you’ve watched it multiple times before. Spencer is still my favourite character because without her, the Liars would be screwed.
Into the Woods
My film of choice to celebrate Stephen Sondheim’s life was Into the Woods. I forgot how the titular song always gets stuck in your head so I was singing it for days afterwards. The film is nearly perfect, apart from James Corden.
The Muppets’ Christmas Carol
It wouldn’t be Christmas without my favourite Christmas movie. It’s become tradition that whilst my mum is at work, my dad and I watch it on Christmas Eve. We think it’s one of the best films ever made and I demand that The Muppets remake every film ever made too.
TV
Law and Order: SVU seasons 14, 16 + 20
Completeling my SVU binge was a challenge this year because 5USA and Sky Witness have a habit of showing the same seasons over and over again. There’s only three seasons I haven’t managed to watch because they’re never on telly or any streaming service! Please, get them on somewhere!
Guys and Dolls
Christmas Eve TV was rather rubbish so we ended up watching Guys and Dolls. Having seen the stage production which I prefer, the film always feels good but not great. Maybe it’s because I’m not a huge fan of Frank Sinatra! There needs to be a couple more musical numbers in it for me too.
Top of the Pops Christmas 1998
I’m obsessed with nostalgia lately, which mostly comes down to my love of late 90s and early 00s pop music. When I saw the 1998 episode of TOTP was on, I had to watch. We got Spice Girls, Boyzone, All Saints, Leann Rimes, B*Witched and Cher. Pop music heaven for me! I’ve got the 2002 episode to catch up on too.
Singin’ in the Rain
Up there in my top three favourite movie musicals of all time, Gene Kelly can do no wrong in my eyes. I’d go so much to say that it’s the perfect movie musical. If you’ve never seen it, you should, even if you don’t really like musicals. It’s such a feel-good movie!
Anything Goes: The Staged Version
The much-anticipated filmed stage version got shown on BBC2 on Boxing Day and I’m not sure how I felt about it. The dance numbers were spectacular as were the vocals but the story felt a bit flat to me. The cast were magnificent but it felt like the songs weren’t spread out enough, with too many in stages and then too much dialogue in other parts.
NETFLIX
Taylor Swift’s Reputation Tour
Before the re-release of Red, I had a full day of catching up on Taylor Swift documentaries and concerts. Whilst Reputation isn’t my favourite album (it’s my least fave), there’s no denying Miss Swift knows how to put on a show. I’ve only seen her on her Red tour and she’s improved every tour since.
Miss Americana
I’ve watched Miss Americana a handful of times and still love it. I love how it’s the first time we really get to go into Taylor’s world and proves that she’s not as dumb as people make out. I’m proud that she finally feels strong enough to speak out on certain issues, despite what her management might think.
DISNEY+
Folklore: The Long Pond Sessions
I couldn’t have a Taylor Swift day without Folklore! I’m hoping folklore/evermore are part of a trilogy, fingers crossed! There’s something about the stories behind her songs that make me an even bigger fan.
CHRISTMAS MOVIES
I won’t go into every single Christmas move that I’ve watched but I’ll add my star rating out of five. I haven’t watched as many as I normally would because I’ve been so busy! Rewatching some of my favourites as well as some new ones is how I usually go about it!
One Royal Holiday – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Cross Country Christmas – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Christmas Joy – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Write Before Christmas – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mingle All The Way – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Christmas on the Bayou – ⭐⭐⭐
A Christmas Dance Reunion – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Christmas Next Door – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Christmas Under the Stars – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
As you can see, what I’ve watched in December and November was quite a lot. I usually watch four episodes of a TV show every night so definitely go through a great deal of box sets. I’m hoping to rewatch quite a bit next year as I plan to work during the day and not on a night.
Anything on my list of what I’ve watched in December on your watchlist too? I’m always looking for new recommendations of new stuff as well as me recommending my favourite shows to others too! Follow me on Twitter and Instagram, where I’m always sharing my fave shows!
