TV is one of my favourite hobbies. In fact, I spend most evenings sitting in bed watching it, whether it’s streaming or old-fashioned DVD box sets. Over the summer, I’ve watched quite a bit so I thought I’d share. Here’s what I’ve watched in July and August.
TV/SKY+
Law + Order: SVU s1-3, 18 + 19
Watching SVU from the very beginning has been addictive quite frankly! I love the later seasons (Carisi is my favourite character) but the older ones are classic. Munch and Stabler are amazing characters; whilst it’s a serious show, there can be some really funny moments (usually from Munch). It’s also amazing that everyone else has left the show (and often come back) and Benson is still there, bossing it!
DVD
Grey’s Anatomy s11-15
I finally made my way through my annual binge of Grey’s with just season 16 left to go. Why I watch it every year, I don’t know, because it makes me way too emotional. I do prefer the original cast but some of the later storylines are so powerful and relevant in today’s world.
One Tree Hill s1-2
I am living for the 00s nostalgia lately. I’ve whizzed through the first two seasons in record time (just over a week) and have just started season 3. It;s crazy to think that growing up, I thought Lucas was the perfect guy when it’s Nathan who’s a much better person.
NOW TV
Grey’s Anatomy s17
I had to watch season 17 before 16 because it was going on Now TV pretty quickly. I loved how it was a dramatisation of the Covid pandemic but it felt real. You could tell the writers had done their research properly as well as incorporating themes like Black Lives Matter into the show. I’m glad that Shonda and the team aren’t afraid to go there. Some fans complained but I really appreciated the real-life aspects.
The Hills: New Beginnings s2
I always say I hate reality TV and I do. However, The Hills always holds a special place in my heart. New Beginnings is cringey as hell but bloody hilarious. All the same people are just as immature as they once were and it makes for great television. I’m hoping for a season 3 next year!
ITV HUB
Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team s11
My other favourite reality show has been on ITV Hub again (it’s rare we get to see it over here) and I had to watch it. I love the talent and commitment the women have and it actually turned me into a Dallas Cowboys fan when I first saw it a couple of years ago. I get so invested in the women’s journeys!
As you can see, what I’ve watched in July and August was mostly continuing the box sets I’ve been watching most of the year. They’re some of my absolute faves so I’ll be watching them again in 2022 too!
Anything on my list of what I’ve watched in July and August something you love? Send me a tweet telling me which is your favourite!
