Spring is here, winter is done, and the weather is (slowly) starting to improve. March wasn’t the worst month ever but it certainly wasn’t the best. I feel like I focused on the bare minimum and sometimes, that’s okay with me. I’m now feeling like my mood has improved and that spring is going to be my time to shine. Anyway, let’s get on with my 10 goals for April 2023 and recap March first.
MARCH GOALS
Before we go into my 10 goals for April 2023, let’s first reflect on my March goals and see how I got on.
Stick to time-blocking and themed days
Whilst themed days work for me, time-blocking is far too restrictive. I didn’t stick with themed days too much but it’s something I’m definitely going to look into more going into Q2.
Go on a solo cinema date
DONE. I went to see What’s Love Got to Do With It and had a lovely time. It’s not often that I go to the cinema but I’d like to change that!
Track my daily word count
Another fail. It’s just a lot of effort to note everything!
Do some spring cleaning
DONE. I’ll be doing more cleaning this weekend but I’ve at least gotten started on it. My list for this weekend is rather long but I’m getting stuck in!
Get outdoors three times a week
I didn’t get outdoors three times a week but I did twice a week! Anything’s an improvement. Although, I haven’t left my house since last Saturday. Oops.
Read 4 books
DONE. I managed to read SEVEN books! Three were shorter non-fiction books and then I discovered Olivia Spring. I got through four of her books in one series! They were like catnip to me.
Get back to posting on my business channels
My business content is non-existent right now but I’m bringing it back in April. I lost focus and now I have to find it again. Here’s to April!
Start planning for Q2
DONE. I was very organised ad Q2 is mostly planned out already! I’ve plotted out my blog content for the next three months and my general planning has been done too. Now I just need to write up my blog post plans as well as book my travel plans!
Focus on daily priorities + healthy habits
DONE. Whilst I haven’t had the healthiest month ever, I have been focusing on healthy habits that work for me: intermittent fasting, upping my fruit/veg intake, and redoing my morning routine. I’ve also been making a to-do list every night for the following day!
Restart Project Me
A big fat no. However, I’m going to rethink my health and fitness routine and try to set up a new programme for myself.

APRIL GOALS
March is totally over now and we’re moving into Q2. Here’s a look at my 10 goals for April 2023!
Complete a 30-day Yoga with Adriene challenge
Exercise is something that I have a very fickle relationship with. I used to be a proper gym bunny but cancelled it during the pandemic and have barely worked out since. Because I’ve got so lazy, my energy levels are at an all-time low. Doing a yoga challenge will hopefully give me some much-needed movement and will inspire me to make working out a priority again.
Write five blog posts a week
This seems like a lot but it is between three websites. I’m hoping to write 3 on this blog, 1 on The Realistic Minimalist, and 1 on my business website. Since last month, I really got into writing for myself again, exploring new topics, and writing when I wanted to. It’s a big aim for myself but at least I do have it all planned out this time!
Book travel for Q2
I’ve got a trip to London in May and a couple of day trips but I’ve not booked anything for them yet (other than some rescheduled theatre tickets). Whilst I don’t plan on doing as much travel as I anticipated in 2023, I still want to get out and about every quarter. London hotels and trains are so pricey right now so I’ll probably just go for one or two nights.
Read 4 books
Seeing as I managed to get through 7 in March, I’m keeping my goal at one book a week. Again, I’ll try reading a mix of fiction and non-fiction so I don’t get too bored. However, I’ve really got into my reading bug again so maybe I’ll increase my goal in May.
Try a new coffee shop
This has been on my list before but I always seem to go to the same places. I’d always rather go to an independent eatery but I tend to go to cafes to work out of the house. Many either don’t have Wifi or they give you dirty looks for having a laptop (maybe it’s a Hull thing). However, I’m off to Sheffield in a couple of weeks so I’m on the lookout for a decent eatery with Wifi there. Recommendations welcome!
Post 4 weekly photo dumps to Instagram
I posted my first photo dump since January last week and whilst my life isn’t exciting, I enjoyed sharing it. Ideally, I’d like to keep up with this throughout 2023. In the meantime, I’ll have to make my life more interesting because currently, I take very few photos of my mundane, everyday life.
Low-spend month
Other than travel (both booking for Q2 and my Sheffield trip) and beauty treatments (2x nail appointments and a massage), I want to have a low-spend month. There’s nothing currently that I really need. I’m sure I’ll spend something but I’d like to match February’s low-spend.
Cement my morning routine
I’ve been trialling a new morning routine where I sync my FitBit, connect my headphones and then don’t touch my phone again until I’m ready to start my work day. This focus time has been incredible so far. I give myself 60 to 90 minutes to get ready for the day, do my skincare routine, pop on some make-up, get dressed, and do a bit of housework. My brain has thanked me by being able to focus on work as it’s not over-stimulated first thing.
Get 1 new client
Business has been a bit slow so far in 2023 so I definitely need a kick up the bum to make it more sustainable. If I put effort back into my website and social media, I should be able to gain more work. Spring is my time to take my business to the next level, increase my income, and get closer to capacity.
Explore Notion
I spent yesterday doing some playing around on Notion. Whilst it looks very complicated, I want to persevere with it. It looks very aesthically pleasing to me because it looks so simple! I’ve got a few YouTube videos I want to watch to find out how to make best use of it. Then, I’ll probably just get a template and adapt it because I’m too lazy!
And that completes my 10 goals for April 2023! I enjoy writing these monthly goals posts because it helps me to stay accountable. Don’t forget to keep up-to-date with my goings-on on both Twitter and Instagram.
