Goodbye April, hello May! May feels like a bit of a reboot. Maybe it’s the improving weather, maybe it’s just me feeling a slither of motivation! Let’s review April first before getting into my 10 goals for May 2025.
APRIL GOALS RECAP
Read 4 books
DONE. I managed to get through six books in April, mostly due to the amount of train travel. When I go to Leeds and Sheffield, I’ve decided not to take my laptop so I get in at least two hours of reading time. I’ll probably take my laptop with me when I go to Bradford as there are less shops there. However, I still want to read on the train though.
Finish Drive to Survive
FAIL. I’ve got eight episodes left so hopefully, I can finish it once and for all in May!
Get back into a routine with laundry
DONE-ISH. I’ve always tried to get some done during the week so by the time it’s the weekend, those loads are dry and I can get some more on. Now the weather is improving, the highlight of my day is getting a load out on the washing line and it drying the same day. Peak adulthood!
Set up my spring capsule wardrobe
DONE. I’ve bought myself a few new pieces for spring, from vests with an inner bra to shorts of every kind. I’m always on the lookout for more spring/summer pieces but I think I’ve got most of what I was looking for.
Continue with 75 Soft
FAIL. I think 75 days is just too big of a commitment to me! Over 3 months when sometimes, life just happens? It’s so hard when you struggle to get up early every day and move your body!
Have a low-spend month
DONE-ISH. It would’ve been if I hadn’t invested in a business course or if Maren Morris hadn’t announced UK tour dates! However, I did overspend on clothing and health + beauty (too many Boots trips) so I definitely want to rein that in.
Focus on CBS content
FAIL. I was consistent for two weeks and then because I didn’t have any content pre-planned or scheduled, I took my foot off the gas. I’ll try again next month.
File taxes (+ save up for the bill)
DONE. I filed pretty much the day after the end of the tax year. However, I haven’t put any money into my tax savings pot yet. April/May are travel-heavy months so I’ll start saving from June onwards.
Get one new client
FAIL. I was pretty excited about one part-time role that I applied for. Amazingly, I had an interview and connected with the owner but I’ve yet to hear back from her. If I can get posting consistently on my business channels, maybe I’ll get more clients through that!
Keep up with blog content plan + post 5 times a week
FAIL. I posted 13 times across my three blogs, which definitely isn’t a fail but it’s not five times a week either! However, I’m still contemplating about merging my three blogs into just this one but it would make much easier work for me!

10 GOALS FOR MAY 2025
Now that April is over and done with, here are my 10 goals for May 2025.
Read 8 books
I managed to get through six books in April so I have high hopes for May. I’m trying to finish off a couple of series plus I have Kindle Unlimited for a couple of months so want to make the most of it. I got my reading bug back in April so want to continue it into May.
Start 2023/2024 theatre scrapbook
I’ve started my 2025 theatre scrapbook but I’ve been collecting leaflets for the last year or so to make one for last year’s show and before that. I’ll probably focus on 2024 first as it’s fresher in my memory and then go backwards from there.
Start + finish 31 Days of Wellness challenge
If you read my post the other day, you’ll have seen that I’ve started a wellness challenge for May. 2025 has been a slump for me so far in my health and wellness so May feels like a bit of a fresh start. Hopefully, if the weather stays nice, I can get out for more walks too.
Make snack boxes every Sunday
I’ve seen people making these all over TikTok so wanted to make my own. Mine are definitely not super healthy because I can’t go without chocolate. However, I’ve made them so they’re under 300 calories for the day. It might seem ridiculous but I need to cut down on snacking as much as possible.
Aim for 15 no-spend days
Although I managed 16 in April, I think May will be a bit trickier. That’s why I’m giving myself some grace and aiming for a smaller number of no-spend days this month. Ideally, it’d be closer to 20 but with the plans I have coming up, I’d rather aim lower and actually achieve it!
Stick to May budget
With that being said, I don’t want to go crazy and spend too much money. However, when I go out of town, I like to be able to spend some money. That means I’ll try to be tight for the rest of the month to make up for my trips to Bradford, Sheffield and Leeds.
Set up + publish all May business content
I’ve got zero content planned or scheduled in May so I need to sit down and actually set up my content calendar. It’s something I want to focus on to hopefully get more clients. Sitting down and planning it in one session would be a great place to start.
Stick to blog content plan
Similar to my business content, I could do to sit down and write a bunch of blog posts if I can. Whilst some posts I can’t write up in advance (such as theatre reviews), many can be. I’d love to spend a day a week writing but it’s finding the spare day to do so!
Post something on Instagram + TikTok
This is very vague but I want to keep it that way! I know I need to use social media more as a blogger, it’s just that I suck at it! I’m a writer, not a photographer or video expert! However, I need to work on it if I want to take my blog to the next level. That’s why I definitely need to start planning content for it but first, I just need to post something.
Enjoy my two weeks off
As I said above, I haven’t had any real time off since Christmas. With all the issues with my grandparents’ health and my own personal stuff, most of my days off have not been my own. However, mid-May, I’m taking nearly two weeks off from my rugby league journalism role (Tuesday through to the following Saturday). Ideally, I won’t do much client work but might spend that time blogging instead.
And that’s a wrap on my 10 goals for May 2025. It’s a busy month but I’m feeling lighter than ever and am determined to make progress is just about every area of my life.
