September is nearly here and I am ready for it. Summer is not my season and I’m feeling the autumn vibes right now. However, I’m trying to hold off on starting autumn officially (i.e. watching Gilmore Girls) until I’m back from my holiday to the Lakes on the 19th September. However, let’s have a look at my August 2023 in review.
THE WOMEN’S WORLD CUP IS OVER
Whilst I’m very sad it’s over and obviously disappointed that England didn’t win the final, I’m glad I get my days back to actually do work! The Lionesses are such an inspiration to everyone. I’ve been loving the community around the World Cup, the Lionesses, and just women’s football in general. Sure, there are always going to be haters. But actually, that just means it brings everyone inside the community closer together. If you love men’s football and you’re not into women’s football, shut up about your opinions too.
BEING IN A FUNK
I’ve been in such a funk this month. I’m at that point where money is my main focus in life. That’s why I’ve been applying for full-time roles again, mostly outside of Hull. I need my independence again to just feel like a fully functioning adult. I’m just so sick of not having any money, chasing unpaid invoices, and living day-to-day not knowing what I can afford in life. Ideally, I’d like to be renting my own place and have a full-time income by the end of the year. I’m sick of where I live (the village, not necessarily my parents) and I want to be in control of my life.
LOW-SPEND MONTH
This wasn’t exactly planned but when you have less money coming in, you’re sort of forced to spend less too! However, it’s made me realise that I often really don’t need certain things, as opposed to wanting them. Whilst I did have two potential freelance opportunities (a trial blog post and an interview), neither of them were successful so I’m back to the drawing board.
GETTING BACK INTO SUNDAY RESETS
When I tell you that Sunday resets have changed my life, I’m not even kidding. Getting your shit together on a Sunday makes Mondays so much more easier. No longer am I spending my Monday mornings organising my life, tidying up, or feeling unmotivated. By doing all of those sorts of tasks on a Sunday again properly, I wake up on a Monday morning, get ready, and head straight to my desk. My week is organised, my meals/workouts are planned in advance, my spaces are clear and clean, and I feel relaxed after a bit of self-care the night before. Seriously, if you feel frazzled, use your Sundays (if you can) as a reset day and you’ll head into the week feeling so much better!
And that’s a wrap on my August 2023 in review. Another short and sweet post because quite frankly, August just wasn’t my month. I’m not looking forward to reviewing my goals later this week either!
