Is 2023 just sailing by or is it just me? I originally thought July was a bit rubbish but I accomplished more than I thought. Let’s get stuck in with my 10 goals for August 2023 but first, recap my July goals.
JULY GOALS
Get Eras Tour tickets
DONE! It was possibly the most stressful thing I’ve ever done in my life but I got the tickets! We couldn’t get anything for the June dates so we’re off to Wembley in August. Now just to book the hotel in August and train tickets closer to the time!
Hit my income goal
Unfortunately, work has been really slow so I was way off. However, it’s also lit a fire under my butt to make this freelancing thing work. I’ve been looking around for a range of opportunities so hopefully, I can start increasing my income soon enough.
20 no-spend days
DONE! I hit 21 no-spend days, probably because money was tight and I only bought the essentials as well as my dreaded big dental bill (3 appointments, 2 hours work, £267!). However, August/September will probably be a little more spendy!
Ramp up 12-week year challenge
I really wish I’d have stuck to this but July had me feeling a bit down in the dumps. I’m hoping to push through August but unofficially. I’ll start a new challenge when I’m back from my holiday in September.
Make one digital product
Another fail. I know it’s something I want and need to do but it’s a lot of effort. For now, I need to spend that time writing for clients and my blogs.
Track time and word count daily
DONE. I’ve been doing this successfully on client work and my own blog writing (word count only). It’s really interesting to see how much you get done when you look back at the end of the month.
Read 8 books
A massive fail. I only managed to get through two books in July, probably because I didn’t read most nights before bed. This is a habit that I’m really trying to focus on again in August.
Do a big toiletries/beauty shop
DONE. I needed to stock up on so much stuff and I’d say I got 90% of what I needed. Everywhere seems to be out of hyaluronic acid for some reason and I’ve fully run out now! There are still a couple of bits that I need but overall, I won’t need to shop for anything for a couple of months.
Make a running list of blog post ideas
DONE. I’ve collated all of my blog post ideas onto Asana and now, I just need to categorise them and start writing them up as blog posts!
Get through TV on Sky+ box
DONE. I’m taking this as a win even though I didn’t get through as much as I wanted but the next goal is to blame! I got through three series and I’m halfway through another one.
Watch as many World Cup games as I can!
DONE. Somehow, I managed to watch 26 full games out of 38, nearly 70%. That’s a lot of football but I’m so invested in this World Cup!
JULY RECAP
7 – TV series watched (Chicago PD s6-8, SVU s15, 9-1-1 Lone Star s1-2, Secrets of Success)

AUGUST GOALS
Now that July is done and dusted, let’s take a look at my 10 goals for August 2023. I’m excited for a month of work, health, and organising my life!
Get a Jonas Brothers ticket
I’ve been a JoBros fangirl since 2007 and I’ve yet to see them live. Whilst I do want to save to move out, I really want to spend my money on experiences too. Theatre and live music count as that so seeing one of my favourite bands is worth the money to me! However, because I’d rather see more, I get the cheaper tickets with the crappy view!
Focus on client work during the day
My schedule has been a bit all over the place lately, which is why I’ve not been as productive. I’ve time blocked my calendar for the next month to focus on work tasks during the day and my own blogs in the evening. Fingers crossed this works well for me!
Stick to content plans for the month
As I said above, blogging in the evening is an experiment I’m trying. That means I have to stay focused and stick to my content plans. I definitely work best when I have a plan in place. Now I just have to draft up those ideas and get them posted!
Work out of the house twice
One thing about working from home means I’ve become a real hermit. For the most part, when I work out of the house, I do tend to get stuff done. There’s something about the hushed conversations that help me to just get on with my work. However, during the summer holidays, they can be a little more chaotic. Thank god for headphones!
Do a YouTube workout every day
One thing I need to do is to get more active. I’ve been saying this for months but I’ve just got so lazy. A quick 10-20 minute workout shouldn’t be that challenging and I just need to get fit again! I’ve made a playlist of some I want to try too.
Read 6 books
So 8 was far too many but I still want to push myself. I’ve got hundreds of books on my Kindle just sat there unread. I adore reading chick lit during the summer because it just feels right before I start on cosy reads in the autumn.
Experiment with new recipes
I’ve recently got my mojo back for cooking and we’ve just been given my nanna’s old heat fryer (basically a cheap version of an air fryer). I’m excited to see if it’s actually worth it so I’m on the hunt for new recipes!
Have an HSM movie marathon
This seems like such a silly goal but I love watching the HSM movies during the summer. It reminds me of having sleepovers with my friends before going back to school. They’re so full of nostalgia to me and yes, I still know every lyric and dance move. And yes, I’ll be dancing and singing along!
Stick to Sunday resets
Another thing that I’ve let go of lately is my organisation. To get back on track, I really want to get back to proper Sunday resets. I love getting my shit together on a Sunday and feeling refreshed and prepared for a new week.
Book beauty appointments for September
Something else that’s not been a priority for me but should be is self-care. That includes beauty treatments. Some days, I’ve barely even cleansed my face properly so I want to get back into my full skincare routine, morning and night. When I’ve got used to that again, I need to get dermaplaning and a proper haircut. If I schedule them in advance, I know I’ll go!
And that’s a wrap on my 10 goals for August 2023. August is definitely a month of focus for me as I really want to get back on track with work and my health. Here’s to a great end of the summer!
