Regular readers of my blog will know that I’m a planning girlie. I’ve been that way since I got my first planner at secondary school but obviously, it’s evolved a little more since. Now, I have multiple diaries to keep my life in order. It might seem excessive but it’s a hobby and it keeps me sane. Here’s my planner line-up for 2024 and how I intend to use each tool.
BUSY B SPIRAL DIARY
I always try to go for a basic week-to-view diary to tie everything together and this is my 2024 pick. It’s the one that I fill out before Christmas with all potential plans for the new year. I tend to write everything in pencil before planning out fully in my monthly resets. I really love the layout with the week on one side and a blank page for a general weekly to-do list. To make it pretty, I have a bunch of stickers to use too. Who doesn’t like pretty colours and stickers?
BUSY B DAY-A-PAGE DIARY
This is something new that I’m introducing in 2024. I’ve previously written daily to-do lists on a notepad to rip off every day. Instead, I’ll write my list in this every evening for the following day. It’ll be more visual when it comes to reviewing my week/month to see what I’ve actually done. Now I’ll be able to see exactly what I’m doing every day. Small wins add up! I’ll still fill out important events and plans ahead of time though. However, the idea is to just open this every day to see what my tasks are.
BUSY B FAMILY DIARY
So I don’t have a family but this makes a great content planner when you have multiple websites/businesses. In this diary, you get space for four people/areas a day plus a general weekly view too. Because I have four websites, I have space to see everything in one place and also jot down general plans again. Again, I will use pencil mostly because I change my content plans constantly!
SMALL HANDBAG DIARY
I bought a cheap pocket diary from The Works that I’ll carry with me whenever I leave the house. This won’t be the neat and pretty diary. It’s designed to be used on the go. If I’m working out of the house or travelling, it’s the perfect size to slip in my handbag or rucksack and I can use it as a quick reference if I don’t have my laptop.
GREY GOALS JOURNAL
This is what I use to write my monthly, quarterly and annual goals. I started it last year and enjoy having a written version as well as one on Notion. It’s just a simple lined notebook but it’s all I need to track my goals. I’m hoping it will last for a few years because I’ve only used about 20 pages so far!
TEAL YEARLY COLLECTIONS JOURNAL
Now this is something I started a few years ago and now set one up every year. It’s basically where I track everything that I don’t want to write down. It covers housework, health, self-care, and entertainment and I try to update it about once a week. I jot down the TV I’ve watched, how up-to-date I am on specific shows, how many pages I’ve read per day, how many hours I slept, and what housework gets done when.
BLACK GRATITUDE JOURNAL
This is another journal I started in 2023 and it will be used for 5 years. I’ve kept it simple because I needed to set the bullet journal up for 5 years. There’s nothing worse than having to repeat layouts constantly! All I do is write down three things I’m grateful for every morning and then it’s done for the day. I’ll admit I haven’t used it every single day in 2023 so there are a few gaps!
PAPERCHASE LINED NOTEBOOKS
I have four of these in a different colour to represent each of my websites. It might seem excessive but it’s a great way for me to brainstorm my ideas in one place. Nothing gets mixed up because all of my websites are so different! When they’re filled up, I honestly don’t know what I’ll do. RIP Paperchase, you’ll be missed sorely by me. I have a running list of ideas for each website as well as notes on each idea.
GOOGLE CALENDAR
I usually plan with Google Calendar first before everything else in my weekly planning routine, purely because you can move stuff around without having to use a rubber or Tippex! I have everything colour-coded because it’s so much easier visually at first glance. Having it on weekly view just makes the most sense to me and I can plan out further in advance than just this year.
NOTION
My Notion template that I got from Jenna Hong (she’s one of my fave YouTubers) is the most functional I’ve found for me. For now, I’m using it for goal-setting, and blog content calendars, as well as resets, routines, and reviews. I’ll admit it’s been a learning curve because I’ve found it a little overwhelming at times. However, I’ve got it working for me right now for what I need. I need to spend some time delving into it properly though. I’ve seen many people rave over how it works for them but sometimes, it feels like it’s too much for me! In 2024, I want to play around with it as much as I can!
ASANA
I’ve tried to migrate everything over to Notion but instead, I’ve decided to keep some stuff on Asana. I’ll be using it for business planning and content as well as client work. I think I prefer the interface of Asana and I’ve just gotten used to it over the years. Eventually, I’d love to move everything to Notion but for now, I like having work and life separate.
And that’s my planner line-up for 2024. I’m sure it’ll change loosely throughout the year. However, I want to keep it as much as I can. Planning is part of my routine! I love to be organised and it’s important to my mental health. In fact, I’m the organised friend always! That’s the first word that they would use to describe me too.
