I would say that I watch a lot of TV in the winter but I do all year round. After the last installment, I’m excited that some of my favourite shows are back on TV. From Strictly to the One Chicago shows, this time of year is perfect for me! Let’s crack on with what I’ve watched in October (and September too).
TV/SKY+
Strictly Come Dancing series 19
I know we say it every year but how is everyone so good this year already? Before the series started, I was already team Tom and team Dan because they’re my favourites but I’m already obsessed with AJ, Judi, John (and Johannes, of course) and Rose. However, other than Robert (he’s a twat), I love every contestant! Don’t forget I live tweet along with the show every week too!
Law and Order: SVU seasons 4, 5, 7, 9 and 12
I’m loving the nostalgia of the old episodes as well as the Benson-Stabler dynamic too. It’s nice to watch the later series at the same time to see how much has changed! Benson is still as kick-ass as ever though! One of my all-time bingeworthy TV shows.
Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist season 2
Such an underrated show. Sure, it’s very cheesy in parts but everyone on the show is crazy talented. I’m still unsure if I’m team Max or team Simon as I love them both! Mandy Moore’s choreogrpahy is senstational throughout too.
DVD
One Tree Hill seasons 3-5
I’m still living for the 00s nostalgia, especially going into the darker nights. There’s something about US teen shows that are the ultimate comfort for me. It’s probably because I’ve seen all of my favourites 100 times because I like the familiarity. One Tree Hill is one of the only teen shows that works well after they graduate from high school. Most other shows go down the pan!
Gilmore Girls seasons 1
It wouldn’t be autumn without a Gilmore Girls rewatch, would it? I know that it’s a little dated and some of the dialogue is problematic but it’s still a feel-good show. I can’t believe that I only saw it properly for the first time a couple of years ago because I love it now!
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
Another autumn/winter must watch are the Harry Potter films. Again, she who must not be named is a terrible human being (as are some of the cast) but the movies are still a delight. I usually watch them in September and then at Christmas again but I might space them out this year instead.
NOW TV
Law and Order: SVU season 22
Holy smokes, that finale! I might be one of the few who’s not keen on Rollins/Carisi and Benson/Stabler getting involved romantically. I like that this show doesn’t focus on the love lives of the characters very much. Also Carisi and Benson are far too good for the other two anyway.
Law and Order: Organized Crime season 1
I’m not sure how I feel about Organized Crime. I like that Stabler is back but he’s more dark and twisty than he used to be. I do like that the series followed one storyline throughout so we got to know the characters involved better. Hopefully I can start season 2 soon!
ITV HUB
Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team seasons 12+13
ITV Hub really needs to show more seasons of MTT because I’m getting sick of seeing the same three seasons constantly (11-13). However, season 13 is probably my favourite because it’s my favourite rookie class. They’re all either incredible dancers or amazing ambassadors, both bringing something to the team. I’m way too invested in this show.
MY5
Law and Order: SVU season 21
I actually enjoy watching the newer seasons, probably because Carisi is one of my absolute fave male characters on any TV show ever. Season 21 sees the introduction of a new officer, Kat, who I loved from the get go. It’s always great to see more kick-ass female characters!
OTHER
Chicago Fire season 10/Chicago PD season 9/Chicago Med season 7
Autumn is the best time of year because all of my US dramas start up again. The #OneChicago shows were up first for me because they’re my number one love. I’m really excited to see new couples form and hopefully they don’t split anymore up either. I might have to start another rewatch of the older seasons again too.
Law and Order: SVU season 23
I’m not sure this is going to be my favourite season because the new cast additions aren’t great. They’ve got rid of two of my favourites (much needed diversity too) and replaced them with people I’m not too fond of. However, the storylines are still superb. How do they keep coming up with them after all these years?
Grey’s Anatomy season 18
I’m really excited for a new season of Grey’s, especially with all of the returning faces. I get the feeling this could be the last season too but you never know. I’m mostly excited for the return of Addison because let’s face it, she’s a surgical goddess. I’m still unsure of who I want Meredith to date though!
Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team season 16
My favourite TV show is back finally and I’m loving this group of women already. They’ve had to change up the format compared to older seasons and I much prefer it. There’s a lot more focus on the dancing itself, which is the main reason I watch the show!
Phew, that was a long read! I love doing these round-up posts because I get to share some of my favourite shows with you! If you enjoyed what I’ve watched in October, keep up with everything I watch over on Twitter.
